My son did 5000 miles around Europe on a CG125 in the summer. He’s aiming for an A2 licence so a R65 could be shared ‘a bit’. I’m after a bike that I can commute rather than a commuter. No scooters.

I work in the office 3 times a week and only need the drive / ride in once or twice a week. Drnosh – I will be tapping you up for some help…

I’ve only done one enduro event and it was The Ex. Fantastic weekend and great riding. Really well organized and included all food.

Each nation gets a Joker card. This gives them a 15% advantage to a single event. Additional cards can be bought for £5 million (in unmarked cash).

My parents are potters, and have run Crow Pottery in Co Donegal for 50 years. Both their kilns are single phase now (top loaders). I can ask what model but I know they were expensive. They have electric wheels but my dad made himself a kick wheel which was the main wheel for 20 years.
They would never fire others peoples stuff.
You’ll need / want loads of space as well (my parents have 4 separate pottery workshops).

Are there any companies which don’t do the price hikes mid term? BT helped themselves to an extra 14% and it is  not behavior I want to encourage.

Interesting… I have an Audi A4 and the CarPlay does exactly that. It’s fine for an hour then disconnects at regular intervals. Have tried different phones and cables. Really annoying…

Anyone can make a bad film with bad actors, no talent and no money. It takes a special talent to create a film soo bad with good actors and a seemingly bottomless bag of money.  That film is AI. The worst bit is the endless false ends to the film. They make you think ‘thank heavens that’s finished, and then…’. https://m.imdb.com/title/tt0212720/

I replaced my asbestos garage roof with galvanized corrugated steel panels. I did 9mm ply, 100mm mineral wool (between the joists), breathable membrane then panels. Membrane catches any condensation. Ply means when they tried to break in via the roof by unscrewing roof panels they couldn’t. I also increased the pitch.

TJ – Dogbone.  Do you drive to ride?  I don’t .  Driving to ride is the real planet killer

I drive to less than 5% of my rides. Does that count as don’t? (I could lie for internet points). But go to any trail center and the e-bikes have driven there as well.

They (e-bikes) do trash our local trails and the batteries are an ecological hand grade but sure crack on.

I’ve started doing the Panda’s oil changes. Very easy but I can borrow a friends axle stands and trolly jack.

Never go under a car just held up by a single jack.

We had a gerbil called Ramon. A girl.

Named after the penguin in Happy Feet. She was grumpy as hell but wonderful.

My son was always car mad but in the summer he rode 5000 miles around Europe on a Honda CG125. He’d taken inspiration from my dad’s trip to Greece on a BSA Bantam in the late 50’s.

All organised and paid for by him.

He’ll do what he always does. Rock up at the last minute totally unprepared, make up some claptrap, say something he shouldn’t, get sacked. All while cashing the cheques. Woke left get blamed and he makes more money.

Thanks for all the advice. I’ll get him to see what others are using at college and ask in Engineering Department what would be needed.

He’s just started his first year so I don’t think it’ll be anything too taxing at the moment. He has access to Uni computers but wants to be able to practice in his room.

He only has a 2017 MacBook Air – so Im not certain running Parallels / Bootcamp would work.

I had both the flu and covid jabs last week. One night of not much sleep (but I’d gone to a cheese tasting evening so it may have been the cheese sweats..)

A modern new build house will have about 400mm of insulation in the roof. I’d aim for that but be careful that you still have the loft ventilated.

No – some nice person on Pinkbike shared a ‘link’. Cracking racing.

Not the 575 but my old 5 alloy. It’s such a shame that Yeti stopped doing alloy frames as they were absolute masters at them. It’s still my favourite bike I’ve had. It was dug out the attic and rebuilt for my son.

It was stolen not long after this photo was taken (however due to ‘new or old’ I got £6k for it..)

My kids school did the iPad thing. We had an evening of serious hard sell from an external provider but decided against it. 1/3 of kids had them and they were very rarely used in class. Teachers just didn’t have the time to create new lessons that used them to their full potential.

3 years later there is no mention of them at all. Cheap Chromebook at home was much more useful

I set the sat nav to Roscoff. But we actually leave from Dieppe. Only added an extra hour to the drive.

Struggling to find someone else to blame.

He’s 18 and passed his test 3 months ago.

Back in the day his grandad rode a BSA bantam to Greece and I rode a MZ251 to Oporto. He’s just finished his A levels and wanted to do something similar.

As others have gone a bit off-piste- my son has just done 7000km around Europe on a Honda CG125.

Seemingly only GS riders don’t wave back.
