No, but have you seen “American – The Bill Hicks Story”? Brilliant film.
Funnily enough I just ordered this on Blu Ray for a tenner this morning
dogbertFree MemberIt’s pretty gross to be honest, any advice on how to deal with this?
Have another word, then speak to his boss, he’ll find it funny until he gets the “can I have a word?”
Guy who sits across from me spends the whole day burping, farting, trying to chat up anyone who passes by and reminding us all that he’s irish…….I want walls and a door, **** open plan
dogbertFree MemberI think there are bigger issus to deal with before we start asking ourselves “is the world going to end in a fireball because of where I buy my coffee from”
dogbertFree Memberah the prius, a car that has a larger “carbon footprint” to build than an Aston Martin and is no more frugal than say a diesel golf
But if you’re the kind of person that takes your enviromental advice from celebrities, buys your weekly shopping based on the amount of times you can see the words “Organic” and “Fair Trade” in your trolley and thinks that your child may be the next musical prodigy because they may have pointed a a piano once and drooled out the word “penis” then boy is this the car for you.
dogbertFree MemberCarry on until told to (or they physically can’t get into a car)
A couple of years ago my wife was sitting at a little junction in an Asda car park, the back of her car was obscuring the space she had just come out of, not enough space to get past her and parked. A woman in a Micra decided she wanted that space and attempted to drive through the boot of my wifes car.
When the other driver got out my wife said it was like Yoda trying to find his walking stick. She had no idea what had happened and blamed my wife for not moving out of the way so she could get to the space.
I phoned the woman later on that night to exchange insurance, when I said to her i was phoning about her hitting my wifes car she said “oh no, I haven’t hit a white car today, i think it was blue” (it was silver) From the conversation we had it sounded like she did this quite regularly.
Unfortunately as people get older they become less and less aware of what’s going on around them, when they’re navigating through towns in 2 tons of metal and glass and they don’t know what day of the week it is, then they have to be regulated.
dogbertFree Member***DUMB COMMENT DELETED***
edit: Ignore that, just rewatched the video…..mabye it’s a bit 1984, but surely it makes sense to have this fitted to every car, in the event of accident there is no question where blame lies and much less fannying about with insurance companies and ambulance chasers
dogbertFree Memberincidentally, if it’s Omega you have your heart set on, the Deville is particularly nice
dogbertFree MemberSinn are nice but maybe not quite dressy enough, look at IWC too.
Christopher Ward get a good name on Pistonheads, infact have a look at their watches forum for some good ideas.
dogbertFree Memberit’s your life, do what feels right. You obviousley know the financial benefits. And if you shop around kit doesn’t have to be that expensive.
Yes there are dangers, but no more dangerous than being on a bicycle, in fact probably less so, you don’t see many commuters in head to toe kevlar and thick leather gloves/boots.
I haven’t bought a bike yet…..the emphasis is on “yet”
dogbertFree MemberThere are some people I respect based solely on the job they do and how they are treated for doing it (pay, pay rises, hours, how they’re treated by the government) and while i’m sure there are a fair few doing the job that probably shoudn’t be let near people, Nurses are one group that I would not speak bad of.
I’m not saying I’m an athlete but I don’t think you can call me a fat bastard.
Can we call you ugly instead?
dogbertFree MemberOnly took real notice of her in the last couple of years, bought Stories and 4 Track, listened to them a lot and bought the rest, does that make me cool…….no.
Started listening after watching a documentary on Sky Arts and Micheal Stipe and a chef were talking about her and it reminded me that i missed a lot of great music. I’m sick of modern music to the point i rarely bother with anything by artists who came out post about 2000, nothing really captures what i love about music.
The good thing about music though is there is the possiblity of always discovering new stuff that isnt necesarily new
dogbertFree Memberall good info, going to take me a while, got a lot of knowledge but a lot of holes in the knowledge
dogbertFree MemberOnly thing better was that lad who leant out of a moving car to smack a cyclist and gets wiped out by another car or an imovable object – I forget which. Nowt better than a bit of comeuppance!
normally I wouldn’t agree with that, but basic karma, that scrawny little git got what was coming to him
Fat kid yesterday
dogbertFree Memberok, after some soul searching and online investigation I think i’m leaning more towards web design, done stuff at college and have a reasonable grasp of Dreamweaver and Photoshop.
So where do I go from here?
I’m guessing learn HTML and CSS would be a good start……any point doing a CIW?
dogbertFree MemberGadget Show is aimed at 20-30 something twonks that think their life would be better if they have surround sound for watching Eastenders……I certainly wont be using them for mountain bike advice
dogbertFree MemberOn here people often criticise drivers but you know what….take a look at yourself from time to time no one owns the roads not even cyclists!!
far too true, it’s the bubble mentality, “I am in my bubble and dare anyone to enter into it”
My wife was run off the road by a lorry driver who just decided to change lanes while she was half way along the side of him, she was pushed into the central reservation (no damage or injury) but then took a torrent of abuse from him for getting in his way
people are ****
dogbertFree MemberSeems to be a lot of snobbery around Voodoo but i’ve always though they were regarded as pretty sweet bikes.
Me and a mate were having a conversation earlier about what bike he should buy tomorrow and I found myself scoffing at his £600 budget, but then I looked at what he was getting for his money and to be honest, I couldn’t see much point in spending anymore, especially at the level we cycle at.
In short, unless there are split frames littering the countryside then I don’t see the problem, and I’ve heard more stories of much more expensive bikes failing a hell of a lot quicker…..so who’s the mug?
dogbertFree MemberU-lock through the passenger window, but then that can be seen as criminal damage.
At least he got the guy on video, hard to argue that one away, and it’s on a national news site which wont help his case. Looks like the kind of twonk that’s pissed off a few people in his time so I’m sure someone will shop him.
I will never understand the hierarchy that people get when out on the roads.
dogbertFree MemberHot soapy water, a handful of sugar will work as an abrasive, repeat, don’t touch anything valuable
dogbertFree Memberdon’t spend a grand like my sister didn’t (my mother foolishly paid for that)
A friend said they’e been through 5 buggies between their two kids and the most they paid for a modular (whatever that’s meant to be) was 200 quid (most though cost no more than 50)
dogbertFree MemberI hate to generalisr, but i’ve never met anyone who works in HR to be anything less than a wannabe nazi who cares about no-one bar themselves.
From personal experience, they work for the company and not the staff, they’re there to toe the company line and if anyone steps out they will be removed. Also almost every HR person i’ve ever had dealings with ( and this might just be me) have been biffing someone higher and usually a board member, in other words the company bike.
dogbertFree Memberyou always feel so much better afterwards! good stuff.
Not so sure, i feel horrible at the moment (but contented I did what I did) It’ll pass,i’m sure its just going from no exercise to actually doing some
dogbertFree MemberEmerica Heretics
Dunno if you can still get them but nothing else has come close
dogbertFree Memberok, i’m confused, the guy’s obviously had a bit of hassle over his original posting on flea-bay, but what’s out of the ordinary about his new posting?
oh, and what does Cytech Qualified mean?
dogbertFree MemberIve lived in Scotland all my life and drove for the last 18 years, I also visit my brother in law in Welwyn Garden City quite regularly and there is a massive difference in the driving styles.
What I can say is there are a massive amount of tools on the road regardless where you stay who either rely on sat-nav and end up driving into a river or they’re too interested in tweeting/facebooking every move they make on their smart phones to pay attention to the car/cyclist/pedestrian they have stuck to their windscreen.
Some people are just flash happy, although according to the highway code, a flash of the lights is only to let other traffic know you are there.
dogbertFree MemberI miss shooting, used to do this:
Loved it, unfortunately banned now
dogbertFree Membereach to their own I say….
I picked up the new Mach 3 fusion cheap out of Tesco (there’s a contradiction in terms) but have been using the Wilkinson DE for a few months.
Tried the Fusion on 3 day stubble and it nearly tore my face off, quickly switched back to the Wilkinson and it was oh so much more comfortable.
I think my whole DE set up cost me about 12 quid from the supermarkets. I’m sure i’m not getting the benefits of Merkur/Feather et all but it seems to do the trick. Kinda like mountain biking, if it works for you then that’s all you need.
dogbertFree Memberthe gadget show? thats a bit of a top gear immitator
Just can’t be bothered with the whole “the stuff we told you about last week is gash, now you should buy this instead and we’ll spraff on about how exciting it is…..WOW!!!”
definitely aimed at a certain type of person
dogbertFree MemberSmoking, should never have taken that up
Debt, namely credit cards
Putting weight on
Letting depression take hold to the point where i’ve lost my sense of humour and constantly appear to be sarcastic, bitter, quick to judge, negative etc etc (wish i could get that under control)
I should have told her how i felt and not let her go
Letting my lack of confidence hold me back from ever doing anything
…….christ, finding an upside has never been harder
dogbertFree Memberare you a civil servant?
it seemed to be positively encouraged when I was there.
hmmm, that explains my brother in laws tendency to go off with his version of stress……strangely it also coincides with his wife’s holidays from work (she’s a teacher)
Unfortunately I had a bad experience with stress/depression, most people were supportive however the a’hole of a boss I had didn’t see it the same way and my contract was terminated…..all i’m saying is that everyones experience is different, just make sure you back yourself up to the point of being bulletproof. Also as you’ll no-doubt be looking for another job, they’ll want to know why you were off sick. Best to be 100% honest to cover your back
(i may be a little more suspicious than most, but bad experiences made me this way, don’t want to scare you but it’s best to have all the facts, we live in a poo society unfortunately)
dogbertFree Memberooh, nice to hear some Buck 65 on here
This works in a weird way
dogbertFree Memberah yes, she is quite the bard herself:
You have my heart
And we’ll never be worlds apart
May be in magazines
But you’ll still be my star
Baby cause in the dark
You can’t see shiny cars
And that’s when you need me there
With you I’ll always share
Because[Chorus]
When the sun shines, we’ll shine together
Told you I’ll be here forever
Said I’ll always be a friend
Took an oath I’ma stick it out till the end
Now that it’s raining more than ever
Know that we’ll still have each other
You can stand under my umbrella
You can stand under my umbrella
(Ella ella eh eh eh)
Under my umbrella
(Ella ella eh eh eh)
Under my umbrella
(Ella ella eh eh eh)
Under my umbrella
(Ella ella eh eh eh eh eh eh)These fancy things, will never come in between
You’re part of my entity, here for Infinity
When the war has took it’s part
When the world has dealt it’s cards
If the hand is hard, together we’ll mend your heart
Because[Chorus]
When the sun shines, we’ll shine together
Told you I’ll be here forever
Said I’ll always be a friend
Took an oath I’ma stick it out till the end
Now that it’s raining more than ever
Know that we’ll still have each other
You can stand under my umbrella
You can stand under my umbrella
(Ella ella eh eh eh)
Under my umbrella
(Ella ella eh eh eh)
Under my umbrella
(Ella ella eh eh eh)
Under my umbrella
(Ella ella eh eh eh eh eh eh)You can run into my arms
It’s OK don’t be alarmed
Come here to me
There’s no distance in between our love
So go on and let the rain pour
I’ll be all you need and more
Because[Chorus]
When the sun shines, we’ll shine together
Told you I’ll be here forever
Said I’ll always be a friend
Took an oath I’ma stick it out till the end
Now that it’s raining more than ever
Know that we’ll still have each other
You can stand under my umbrella
You can stand under my umbrella
(Ella ella eh eh eh)
Under my umbrella
(Ella ella eh eh eh)
Under my umbrella
(Ella ella eh eh eh)
Under my umbrella
(Ella ella eh eh eh eh eh eh)It’s raining
Ooh baby it’s raining
Baby come here to me
Come here to me
It’s raining
Oh baby it’s rainingdogbertFree Memberjust changed a gshock battery for a couple of quid, the whole waterproofing thing is a scam, so i went with what the lovely interweb told me and not had a problem
dogbertFree MemberNot amazing unfortunately but hoping to build up some stuff this year after leaving it too long between playing
I do have a Boss chorus pedal and a HSS squier strat to go with the amp, just no pics
