…pad wear could be crazy in the wet

Any aftermarket pads to recommend for better wear / as-good-or-better performance?

Yeah, Total Bike was the one I was thinking of, thanks guys.

Nope, not World / Pro, there was another one. And not Maximum Mountain Bike either, that was never Future IIRC.

…adjusters have seized – after a race in awful weather last year gritty water got in to the screw adjusters and they need turning with pliers now, even with the big red turney things

Try soaking the whole unit – minus pads – in penetrating oil?

At Bike 2000 I think it was, I remember sitting at the next table to G*y K*st*v*n and some American from a fork manufacturer whose name rhymes with Pock Cox.

The American was basically saying “…well, you *know* we can’t make forks which will stand up to British conditions…”

‘Nuff said… though I’ve heard they’ve come on in leaps and bounds since they were taken over by SRAM?

Good quality kit at low price and low maintenance is where I’m at. Not that I’m spanner-phobic – used to work in a bike shop – just rather be doing other things mostly.

I’ve already got Avid SD levers, so that’s a plus…

Calderdale is sh*t. Everyone should ride elsewhere I reckon…

    Any suggestions?

The new Streetmap.co.uk interface is better. You get Explorers and Landrangers, and can use CTRL +/- on Firefox to zoom out and see more.

Unless Shimano chains have improved lots lately, I’d use Sachs/SRAM every time.

Got about a dozen turnips from the lotty in the fridge ready to be mashed or curried, along with two huge bags of turnip tops for turning into sag. Yum.

Are all Rebas air sprung? Would probably prefer something coil sprung unless they’re a lot more linear than the Judy Air Englund cartridges I used to run…
