Not looking for a year as I won’t be going again for another 12 months but some good options there.

    Thanks

Strines really? possibly the worst place I’ve eaten in a long time. No actually the Three merry lads at Lodge Moor was worse, just. It has been a couple of years but it was like a time warp to 1982 and not in a good way.

I’d second the Barrel at Bretton, it was nice when I last went around Christmas. And Felicinis in Bakewell, been a few times this summer but it’s a bit more upmarket than a cafe.

In what way? My ST BBs have lasted far better than my ISIS BB

In the way that the crank spindle interface doesn’t deform. I’ve created a few parallelogram cranks over time.

I went through 2 in 10 Years, never any trouble.
I no longer have the bike but the bb lasted a year with the new owner with daily peaks use.

It’s certainly better than square taper.

I saw a full facer on Farringdon Road yesterday, it was blazing hot and not particularly gnarly.

For the last 10+ years I’ve been getting delayed headaches after exercise, sometimes even if just a sedate walk. I got a headache post walking up Grindsbrook in the snow. On reflection I sweated a lot as I’d dressed really well, too well.

I’ve still not got a complete answer but I generally don’t suffer like I used to, at one point it was putting me off riding.

I find if I eat well before a ride and don’t drink too much water post ride the symptoms are minimized.

Eat well for me means a nice cooked breakfast, double win.
I’ve started taking those zero electrolyte tabs when I’m on the road bike in the water bottle and they seem to help.

Armstrong in 2003 struggled up to this finish, Ullrich gained some seconds. It had a different name back then. So what were they comparing?

Last year I had a regular XC lid, gloves, knee and elbow pads. I’d have liked a full facer in hindsight. The knee pads were a pain, I found them very uncomfortable. But then I also saw some bad injuries requiring the helicopter.

I went with factory fitted nobby nics which was a mistake, make sure you take some tough rubber. The terrain above Champery between Switzerland and France is real rugged in places. I rippped a rear tyre wall, didn’t notice until the next day that the tube was bulging out. Considering I went for the day it could have been a costly mistake.

In summary, xc lid is ok as long as you ride within yourself.

For the past 3 years I’d been using a mattress that came free with the bed. At first it was fine but this last year it was clearly causing me issues because nights away in hotels , holiday etc I didn’t have the problem to the same degree.

So I researched this here singletrack for some wisdom and the advice that pointed me to http://www.factory-beds-direct.co.uk[/url%5D was fantastic.

I was looking at mattresses in Marks and Spencers the other day. The wording says all the right things but inspecting them you can see they just aren’t the same quality yet more expensive.

The big issue is whether you are confident to purchase without testing first. However, your perception of a mattress will change, the first night my wife hated our new mattress, said it was too firm but that only lasted one night and she is won over, massively. So I wonder how worthwhile a 2 minute test in a shop really is?

We relied purely on their advice over the phone and only 2 weeks in my back is without issues. Even after struggling with it up 2 flights of stairs. I should have let the delivery men do that bit! (They did offer).

    Hi

Wasn’t me, avid pain is wide spread it seems.

I’ve got mine working just well enough to ride tomorrow and then I’m going to sort it out for good.

    Kind of a bump

Can you run slx with an Avid Elixir rotor? (i.e. so I don’t have to buy a new rotor….yet)

And where is the best place to get some SLX brakes from?

Oddly, the bus goes from Av. de la Gare, which has no rail station.

    http://www.location-oisans.fr/Acces.php

Last bus from Bourg d’oisans on the 18th July back to Grenoble is 19h07 from the tourist information centre.

gets in at 2037 according to (http://www.transisere.fr/)

    A l’arrêt BOURG D’OISANS – OFFICE DU TOURISME (BOURG D’OISANS)
    Prenez la ligne : 3000 BOURG D’OISANS-VIZILLE-GRENOBLE
En direction de : GRENOBLE – GARE ROUTIERE
    Descendez à l’arrêt : GRENOBLE – CHAVANT (GRENOBLE)

    19h07 ==> 20h37

Might be a touch busy though.

It is a fact that the wet causes more maintenance issues so its not just about clothing.

Nice phrase but when it comes to bikes it is plainly wrong.

I took you along there years ago for you to get a telling off from a gimmer for riding the path behind the golf course.

So is it just the top section or does it link with the gravel road that comes out of Hathersage village below the road.

Another option is around longstone edge. Not been that way for a couple of years. Cavedale is unique and a nice low speed challenge but getting there might be a bit boring.

    so what about this?

This time of year it’ll be fine, might not be mud free but it won’t be terrible. Pennine bridleway will take you to cavedale which is always more fun in the wet and should reduce the number of walkers.
But that would be a big ride.

It’s no gem but better than tarmac, I do hope it goes into the village as half of it is used by cars anyhow. Do these classification changes get published somewhere?

    Have I missed any others?

I had a fantastic time and all on a dinner hour. I’ve never pedalled out to WLT as fast in my life. MJB I think you were v close to where I was sitting. I’m pretty pleased with my shots but yours are that bit sharper. Chapeau.

Peripherique isn’t too bad, though not done it for a good few years, last time was evening rush hour which probably explains it. Alternatives are available, recommend you keep on the autoroutes to the East.

Rouen is another option but some of the roads are less good.

Is this thread for real? I think if users had their age against their username we’d pretty much see the issue. 8 year olds arguing with grown men. Right I’m off out in the sunshine to maintain my weight.

I’d like to know the answer too.I’ve got Elixir 1s, they used to squeal like a stuck pig. Moved to a 15mm axle and they still squeal but not as much. They are close to being ditched as they are so annoying except when you want to warn walkers of your approach, then it has its uses.

I’ve got a Trance 29er and a 100mm 26er Hard tail….the Trance definitely feels like it has more travel.

That would be because it has more…perhaps.
