Are they shipping them with 7 now? Had a look on Misco and it looked like they weren't yet. I need a new work one but I'm not going to get pushy until I know I will get 7.

Look on the bright side, Alan Bennett had some old tramp live in her camper van in his drive for about 15 years

We saw Lady in the Van at Theatre by the Lake in Keswick, pretty good play. See, he didn't moan, he made good come from it 😆

I have XT rear mech in working order, a stem and some Manitou SX forks but they have a short steerer though. I'll chuck a tube in as well. 😆

Sorry – cant discuss selling stuff directly on here. Not really the done thing.

    No probs I fully understand.

The pita is the fact the 314 doesn't have a bolt through axle fork, which Id want on a >2k 140mm trail bike. The 514 does but the price difference is to great to justify. So I'll end up buying something else instead

Agree about wanting the bolt through axle, thats the sort of thing you'd want as an upgrade option on the 314. And the colour of the 514 is something you'd want to change as well, they've just not quite got them right. Oh well…

😆 You'll have to do a lot more talking to get me to dig deep enough for a 714!!

Maybe I should get an 09 514 and forget about to 2010 upgrades… Thinking about it you're right there is too much choice, if all companies only did 1 spec of each bike life would be a lot easier. 😆

I see you do an 09 714 for £150 more than an 2010 514, is that worth a thought?

Off to bed now, I'll look back tomorrow.

It's a hard thing spending 'that' much money you do tend to end up over picky and spend too much time looking at every combination…over and over again 😕

There's a big price jump between the 514, and the 314 but I know you get a different frame as well as components, I tend to think buy the best frame you can at the start then upgrade parts on it as they wear/you get the money to do it. You just don't seem to get that option.

    Not a fair comparison.

TBA I couldn't really give a toss about company size, I want the bike in the spec I want and can afford! Not really a good ad for buying from a big company then is it, the bigger you get the less choice the customer gets. You're convincing me what to buy. 😆

Anyway you can buy Santa Cruz, Cove, Trek, Giant, Commencal, Turner, Orange, Ibis as frame only.

Warm as said but keep it for walking IMO, it will get wrecked with mud grit when biking.

Not many big brands allow upgrade options either – they do make 5 models btw so there is quite a choice

Look at Orange where you can pick and mix from bottom bracket to the paint job, that the sort of choice I'd like where forking out £2K+

It's a pain in the ar£e, I'd be up for a carbon rear ended one. Might go for a different bike coz of it. Bad company decision, at least have upgrade options to allow for personal choices. IMO 😡

+1, mediocre stout with a huge marketing budget.

but I can't use it for my webmail. only real problem I've had is that I can be typing something in this box and it suddenly shuts down.

Talking to a friend last night she said she had typed out a long email was just about to send then Chrome shut it down and said it need a security update. So she decided to phone instead! I'd stuck Firefox on her laptop so I don't why she was faffing with Chrome 🙄

I use Firefox coz I like all the add on's and I have a theme I like. Tried Chrome when it first came out and it was really buggy so I binned it. Only use IE for updates now. At the end of the day I suppose they all do the same thing of displaying webpages but it's the twiddly bit that win you over.

We need a "STW spare parts pool", there must be loads of people on here with a lot of spare parts that are well usable but they CBA to sell and don't want to throw out. As long as it wasn't taken advantage of people could dip in it they were in real need of the parts.

    I know I've got bit's I don't need.

I took about 2-3 years out (relocated etc…) and have been back into it for about 6 months now, the worst thing was missing the mates you ride with and you feel older! Looking at all the old biking photos, wanting to get fit and have a laugh helped 'force' me to get back on my bike. I kept my bikes though which helped, had a weekend at CYB a few weeks back and it was top notch. 8)

As to cost, yes it can be a lot.

Not wrong there, I feel like I've spent a small fortune sorting bits out, getting biking clothes and stuff. I shouldn't have left my bikes out side for a few years 😆

    Thankfully, yes.

    Full story here.

I missed that thread the other day, not very nice, glad you're both OK. The thing that made me laugh was the way you dropped it into this thread fairly casually! I didn't mean to be flippant.

But doing a defrag as you're doing will help as the paging file needs to be unbroken as far as I can remember.

that mentioned a rider adjusting tyre pressures on each descent

Surly this is just a myth (or a one off!), if you keep adjusting your tyre pressure on each decent that implies that you are letting air out. So you either end up with flat tyres or you pump them up again on each ascent. No one would ride with anyone faffing that much, and I cant say I've seen anyone pumping up or fettling down tyres outside of the pre ride car park faffing except when they get a flat.

We stayed at Tyn y Groes a couple of weeks back I would avoid it, well over priced and the landlord is the grumpiest mean bloke you're likely to meet. Food wasn't any good either. We won't be back there again.
