I had a Nokia Windows phone (through work) which got smashed at Dalbeattie a few months ago which I wasn’t sad about as I hated it. I’ve got a basic Nokia 113 that’s as bad as you’d expect for anything apart from using as a phone, the good point is the battery lasts a long time, even texting is a total pain on it as the text goes large!

Just want a cheap Android smart phone now.

I got some from Aldi last week for a tenner, not used them yet but tried them on and they seem good. They are baggy at the bottom for putting on over shoes but they have velcro to adjust them.

I’d like to think they are pocketed wrappers that have fallen out when getting things from pockets rather than chucked on the ground on purpose, can’t be sure though.

Totally agree, great organisation, atmosphere and route. Nice to have a band playing when you get back as well.

I to have enjoyed the thread and would like to thank the contributors to the thread after page 2, I didn’t bother to read any of page 1 & 2 as it would be the same old same old. I just jumped straight in with my first post on page 3, these types of thread are never much interest until page 3 IMO (no offense to posters on pages 1 & 2).

When I’m on my road bike which is pretty much the only type of riding I do I just give a micro-nod to other bikers, if they are proper roadie I might tip a finger at them as a sign of mutual respect. MTB’s get the minimum because most MTB’ers are lazy **** who don’t deserve much if any respect.

What about horses? And they shit everywhere.

This is the closed section, I’m not too sure it is on the route as the route PDF isn’t that clear to read! Could divert it round it would add a bit as they won’t want to go on the A66.

I was riding around Wythop woods yesterday and the C2C route down to Beck Wythop is closed due to logging. Looking at the ride route maps it looks like they use the track on the Mini Massif route.

I went down it anyway as it used to be a lovely fast downhill track through the trees but it completely trashed, they have covered it big piles of lose slate that are un-rideable and would slice your tyres up. It it not due to reopen for over a month.

I looked down and thought my front wheel skewer looks like it wasn’t full closed, so went to kick it in while going along. My foot went in to the wheel – Bang foot goes in wheel hits forks, bike stops dead, I go over bars. I thought I’d chopped my toes off with the spokes as well as being battered from the over the bars.

This happened in front of a group of people sitting on a bench, I jumped up got on bike and rolled off before checking for damage to me and bike as I was so embarrassed! 😳

I’m a 5’9″, nearly 13 stone bloke in Lycra. It’s not the tyre width that makes people look and laugh!

I wouldn’t go for Hope hubs because one of the things I like with my SS that it’s quiet to ride. Mines got Shimano SLX hubs.

Watching someone on a fatbike is like big fat person struggling trying to squeeze in an airplane seat while still trying to maintain a smile.
