Rather than pellets on the stove you can burn brickettes this is a good price delivered Verdo briquettes.

I’ve just got a ton of them and you can snap them really easily if you want.

I’ll get slated for it but…coal nuggets give out loads more heat are reliable and you only need to load it up a couple of times a day and it’ll still be going strong the next morning. Cheaper as well unless you get free wood. There I said it. 😆

You won’t get cold with wood coz you’ll be up and down all the time stocking the burner up IMO.

you should be able to use Audacity according to this:

I use Audacity all the time for recording anything you listen to on the PC, you also need LAME to convert it to MP3, a bit fiddly to set up but once done it’s easy to use.

it’s time now to leave it on full time and just glean what we can from solar without screwing around too much.

Thats where a hot water pre-heater calorifier would help.

    4.7 megawatts = 4,700,000 kilowatts

Maybe I’m missing something but I thought

    4.7 megawatts = 4,700,000 watts = 4,700 kilowatts

Therefore 255kWh/year times 20 = 5100kw is 5.1 megawatts which is more than 4.7 megawatts.

So you are saying Edukator underestimated what he’ll get rather than over estimating!!

    Explain please.

Just been looking at Soundcloud after a signing up a long time ago, can you order searches in to length and popularity?

I picked Dub, advanced search is limited to Short Med or Long length but you cant order the search high to low etc.

I’ve got Fireworks MX-04 it works in Windows 7 but Windows changes graphics mode to Standard or something, still usable though.

I might switch to Gimp though as I like the name.

If your walking on them I’d think you’ll need something with a hard coat so a tough varnish, this would change the appearance.

Could get a matt or satin finish.

not long now until one opens yards from me

Property prices will rise by 10-15% on the back of it, like the old days when Pizza Expresses used to open people knew the area was up and coming.

Isn’t the main problem with the E7/storage heaters the lack of control?

Defo, plus they are ugly great things (from memory), if you had room for a thermal store a heat pump on E7 would help eliminate the control problem and be nicer in the living space plus better efficiency. just need to get the heat output up on them, but I think they are heading that way.

I wonder if heat-pumps heat output gets higher if a heat pump running overnight on E7 charging a thermal store (+feeding rads/UF) would be viable, it must make more sense than E7 radiators or storage heaters due to the COP?

I did some work years ago at John Lewis on Oxford Street where they had large tanks that they would freeze overnight on E7 to use for the AC during the day time and keep the chillers off.

Spangly new boiler stove – 14kw to water, 8kw to room

Is that both at the same time, i.e. total output 22kw? That’s some heat, what size is it, I take it you’ll be using coal or it’ll be a full time job keeping it stoked?

Heat pumps are great, 37% (musn’t use a round number) better than burning gas domestically for the best of them in energy terms. But, big but, they still need electricity and replacing 20 million GCH units with heat pumps will bring the grid down even at currect electricity production levels.

I suspect that most of the early taker up’ers will be replacing oil, bottled gas and conventional electric heating. If I had mains gas heating, I’m not sure I’ve seen anything to convince me to change to a heat pump, cost wise anyway.

I think you miss my point:-

it’s for the locals who end up paying for it one way or another

Give them an alternative and they took it,

The alternative is pay their way.

C’mon Northwind that sort of balanced argument isn’t in te spirit of this thread.

As in they don’t pay council tax so they don’t get their rubbish collected from the sites, and they don’t pay commercial tax so they don’t get their rubbish collected from their ‘work‘.

My heart bleeds for them. 😆

The most amazing aspect has to be the intruder’s shameless family turning up at the scene and laying flowers!

They were probably nicked from the local cemetery.
