If heat is getting to it then the blockage must be in the return.

If there is a blockage the whole leg will be cold you’ll have no flow in any of a blocked leg whether the block is in the flow or return.

Or to save a load of hassle after checking it’s not the pump that’s just knackered just repipe the extension now and have done with it.

    😮

Hire roof ladder and do it yourself, not a hard job. Do it on a calm day though! I did mine, quite a nice job but I’m like a monkey.

rusty a mild hijack, I see you have a Graham Weigh CX framed bike, how do you rate the frame? I’ve been looking at swapping my CX bike frame as the size is a bit large and like the look of the Weigh. It looks fairly light and they come with headset and carbon fork for £200 now.

Also would it desticker fairly easily to go black stealth?!

You say it’s been balanced but it sounds like a balancing problem or pump capacity problem, the water sounds like it’s not being circulated to that part of the circuit (the extension).

Try turning the balancing valves on some of the rads that get hot down, count the turns so you can set them back. this may force the water to the rads that dont heat up.

MrSmith I dont know why people use Flash websites and the navigation doesn’t flow IMO. Clicking on one of the portfolio links brings up a single image, then you have to find the thumbnails link on the other side of the window that appears, not good.

I can get a bit stressed out if I’ve got too much on the go and I seem to feel like I’m chasing my arse and the amount I need to do is getting longer.
Try to prioritise things make a list and cross off things as they get done, it also helps me to finish jobs rather than starting loads of things and not getting any finished then they all jumble around in my mind. I also set time aside at weekends to get jobs done and finished around the home, have some weekends where you ‘book’ any thing in and keep to it.

Yeah I suppose the pumps are small and don’t mind if there’s a large flow (all underfloor legs open) or only a small flow from 1 underfloor leg (worst case). On large 2 port systems the pump speed matches the system flow, as the valves shut the pump slows down, older systems were 3 port with a bypass leg with a balance valve that matched the heater coil resistance!

    EDIT:

As long as one UFH circuit is open, the inline TRV on the flow side can still be closed and there would be no dead end.

I was kind of thinking from the boiler primary pump if all the TRV’s are closed.

The thing I think is strange on the OP system is having a 2 port valve (TRV) on any system that is a constant volume system. i.e. fixed speed boiler pump. What if all the TRV’s are closed it’ll be pumping against a dead head. Still it appears to be a standard set up, maybe they have a pressure regulating valve in the system……or I’m looking too hard at it in a large commercial system point of view, I’d have inverter speed controlled twin pumpset controlled on a DP sensor for that system :D!!

I’d have a look at the pressure gauge on the boiler, may indicate a water loss resulting in air.

    Look familiar?

    More info.

TRV is on primary boiler flow circuit not UFH secondary.

I did this by doing my homework on the regs, then getting it fitted by a competent builder and signed off by the local authority. None of it is rocket science if you take the time to read Part J of the Building Regs and work out what you need – its all pretty straightforward stuff.

Ditto, my nextdoor neighbour had done his so we did mine, hired a roof ladder bought flue liner and bits online & stove locally. Did it to regs and got it signed off, and it’s as good as getting it HETAS installed. They are just qualified to sign there own work off.

Check you’ve got the right grade of stainless steel for smokeless as it burns so hot.
