I'm sorry but your good lady rides an "mans xs" 🙂 hahaha! Anyway your 100% right, get her to a shop. She's not going to like it if it doesn't fit right and if she doesn't enjoy it whats the point?

I have a sora rear mech on my crosser and its superb, very slick, solid even. Its not light tho. I don't know if that helps? Someone up there compared slx to sora… 🙂

I have a tri-cross for commuting. I love it! Its also very good and great fun off road. That crois de fer (spelling?) Looks superb as well, i have worn my rims (on my wheels, behave!) Almost to death in 6 months of winter commuting. I would 100% suggest mechanical disks.

Thanks everyone! Job done! 🙂 in the end i didn't bother with taking the fuse out, i just went for it! Despite the haynes books suggestion there was a chance of a huge jet of petrol squirting any where, just a wee dribble. I feel like a car fixing god now, done the switch on the gear box for reverse, changed the rear pads, checked the front and done the fuel filter so far this year… Spark plugs and oil change soon! 🙂

Thanks for the advice so far! The haynes manual is very vague – it just says to do it…

I know I was in the wrong by swearing and getting angry but it always presses by anger button when I nearly loose my life or a limb.

Yeah I'm the same – its so hard to resist the urge to get in the argument when they cut you up.

I just replaced my Toras on my rock hopper with Rebas. They are very nice! 🙂

I bought them from flying fox bikes, they had a wide range of forks in stock (and they are retail not OEM) – if you cant afford Rebas they had some very nice tora airs that would be good on the rockhopper.

Here is a pic of mine with Rebas. Cause I'm worth it! 😀

I was going to throw in some random comments about this being singletrackmagazineworld forum and generally be a wise ass but I saw from your other post this link:

The guy in wheelcraft that looks like Bill Bailey (I forget his name – sorry!) was telling me about a decent somewhere along there once that dropped into Kilsyth area (perhaps behind the school?). He might have some more routes if you ask him? Didn't strike me as someone who would be on a internet forum.

There are a feww trails up into the hills from behind Wheelcraft in Clachan of Campsie but most of them don't really go anywhere…you can get right along the top but it's very dull and depending on time of year there will either be tussocks to stride over or 'damp' stuff to wade through

I totally agree with Richard here – nothing much up there.

Best to head to CV / Meikle Bin area tbh. Sorry!

The new Runway is pretty much a re-build because the original trail disappeared into the mud as soon as the dumpers started to run. We’ve kept the original line, beefed up the drainage, laid a new trail base and finer surfacing and built a bigger variety of jumps. It has to be safe for Blue riders so there are no huge drops or steep ramps but I don’t think anyone will complain about a lack of action.

    Pete

I rode the new runway / fun park section yesterday for the first time and I loved it! To be honest I thought it would be crap and hit at full speed and blasted down – I had a huge grin on my face at the bottom! It felt a lot like the top half of Laggan to me – fast and sweeping with cheeky wee drops! I was also loving the small kickers on the jumps. I really liked the drop off into the bomb hole as well – it feels very fast and flowing – its great!

My only comment is that it puzzles me why Kelpies was made a very easy blue (its pretty much a small flat hill) and the fun park was made a bit of a harder red? I don't really get that but if someone had come to me and said: "David, its up to you mate, we can leave CV as it is or we can making the fun park into this but you need to loose kelpies – what you going to choose?!?" then it would have been an easy choice! 🙂

It would be great to have a shortcut back to the top of the fun park tho – I nearly twatted a guy pushing his bike back up the fun park. But hey you always get one clown… 😀

Great work on the fun park Pete – thank you! I may have been a bit wrong with your intentions to CV sorry!

    David.

I'm sure we could quite easily contrive a situation where it would be acceptable, even if it may be unlikely…

    Ingredients:

    1. Impending nuclear explosion which can only be stopped with disarm codes (a la Bond or something).
    2. Said codes in posession of hapless gentleman, who is half a shandy over the limit, does not have any means of wireless communication and is 10 miles away from the nearest telephone.
    3. Thirty minute countdown timer.

10 miles, thirty minutes – sounds like a time trial to me 🙂

    As for Barcas comment:

Is it acceptable when you know loads of people on a bike geek website?

    You sir, are a cock.

Is there a chance that the attention this is drawing could drive him further underground?

I wonder if the mods should just remove all the comments RE drink driving? If hes feeling like society hates him and then sees the judgmental stuff on here that might be too much for him if he is in a dark place…

I'm not convinced i didn't prefer Eas Dubh prior to the trail "improvements". I might pop up with a trenching tool and rip some hard core out of the original line down it one evening in order to restore the thrill.

OK I don't like the improvements either but I hope your joking! 😯

Seriously mate, you have to ask? I guess they might be worried about unstable trees squashing people or something. I don't know. I do know that the people what know about trees are saying stay out. I would stay out. Simples! 🙂

I once had a letter arrive adressed to
    Jeremy
    Flat above the restaurant
    Next to the river
    Leith

I have had similar – generally I suspect they make every effort to get things to you despite the address on the enevelope – I think most people can be relied on to get names correct and mong the rest of the address.

The postie prob saw the company name and figured someone had the wrong address. I bet it happens all the time!

If you want to try it stick your name and town on a envelope and I bet 9 times out of 10 it makes its way to you.

If i'm riding on my own its glentress. A lap of the red and then a lap of the blue. However if i'm riding with mates its lagan. For some reason i just don't enjoy lagan on my own, it needs mates. However the red i can't wait to do again is nevis. I'm excited even thinking about it! I loved it! 🙂
