Its not actually a bad idea – rubber pugil sticks and first one to cry looses?

I'm thinking it could be an end to rubbish bearing threads?

Big wad of glue to hold it for the test and then fix it later?

Thanks everyone – some really good stuff here.

I think I always try to pull the bars up and that lifts my weight up not back – I'm liking the idea of pulling back. Also the tip RE the squeaky toy – that's one to try somewhere no-one can see! 🙂

    Thanks!

    David.

But makes it more chuckable if its a smaller frame. BMX's are small aint they?

Crime recording databases are held by individual forces, so if your bike was stolen and recovered in a different force area (which might only be a few miles away) it will never be identified as yours unless it is registered on a national database such as immobilise.

Now thats a top tip! Thanks!

salomon trainers are very good and grippy.

I have a set of these but wouldn't cycle in them – too flexable. You would just wreck them I think.

Hannah Mayho, who came into direct contact with the vehicle, has broken both her legs and her right arm and wrist. She is undergoing surgery today and will be kept in hospital as long as necessary.

    Oh. F*ck.

    Healing vibes to them.

    Gapplenannas.

They would look like chocolate cake, taste like chocolate cake and have the texture and smell of chocolate, but would be as healthy as eating some grapes, bananas and apples.

    Simples!

Signs are not going to make a huge difference – fair play for doing it but the kind of person that undercuts a lorry isn't going to look at a sign. I saw someone on my commute undercut a bus at a bus stop yesterday morning and they have signs on the back around here… One of the peds getting of the bus caught the commuter in a superb clothesline tho. Far better than any sign! 😀

cyclist at fault. Undertaking is a crazy thing to do around junctions on a bike. As you say, people die like that.

    Plus one.

Never undercut at a junction. You will die soon. End off!

I know for a fact that this cycling manouver and resulting deaths/accidents is why Tarmac are sticking big signs on the arse end of their concrete lorries!

I dont think thats the real reason behind cycle deaths and lorries. Check out some of the stats on moving target…

get the shittest cheapest one, enjoy it and buy your bicycle a gift with your savings.

Thats not bad advice. I'm probably not allowed to use that line at work tho! 🙂

On the dell the hard disk and memory we use are standard. Unless its a mini 9 or something then the ram can be tricky. Everything else is really not for upgrading anyway on a laptop. If you buy dell pay extra for the longer warranty. Its normally worth it.

They may visit him at work or the pub to arrest him that kind of thing. Tell hima bout mate sthat a variety of unlikely things happened to etc.

Plain clothes as well. And they will watch him to check his habits… 😉

It has been suggested to him that he could go to prison for this (he wouldn't though, would he?)

I would hope not – thats seems a bit harsh.

I would guess his driving days might be over for a while tho… 🙂

OK I maybe dont need the bigger HDD but the RAM probably useful and sure I could get the HDD downgraded accordingly if I phoned them?

    Probably not – sorry!

I would say that your as well getting the cheapest you can and then get RAM from crucial.. 🙂

wedge the moving side with something (not your fingers) and then pump the lever.

Easier to do with the brake off the bike so that you can have lever and caliper next to each other as you will find you need a third hand 😉

saying that, my carbon seatpost that came with the bike has a tendency to slip so I'll be junking it for an alloy post soon.

Have you tried carbon assembly paste? Its solved wandering seatposts for me on my bikes and I am tiny bit beefier than you… 😉

Next time I am out you can try some?

    David.

Silly question but you did take the handbrake off? I know that I spent 20 minutes one day trying to shift a drum when I still had the handbrake on… 😳

Loosen the cassette on the wheel and tighten again? Maybe its shifted a bit as on some cassettes the bottom three cogs are seperate from the main body and might have mooved?

going to sell all mine (so watch the classifieds) and get an e-reader

No dont do it! E-book readers are pish at the moment – costs the same for books through official channels as it does for the paper ones and they just are not as nice to read from.

    Keep your books. Please!

you have to select which tools you need

All of them! Thats why I bought them – buy them as I need them!

However to answer your question – allan keys (1.5mm to 12mm), spanners (6mm to 20mm inc cone spanners), pedro tyre levers x3, screw driver with a thing of bits for it, BB tool, cassette lock ring tool, pliers at a minimum.

Wedding album, laptop, sofi the cuddly elephant, mobile phone and fill the rest with as many books as I can.

(I am assuming that keeping my bike means I get to keep my cycling jacket etc and tools from the shed to keep my bike going).
