Giant Defy Advanced 2 2021 Carbon or Canyon Endurace CF SL Disc 7.0 are at the top of the list so far. Does anyone own either? Canyon spec looks miles better…not sure why at the same price.

Please keep the recommendations/ comments/ opinions coming, they’re all much appreciated.

I’m thinking 28-32mm tyres depending on weather conditions

Its a 4 bed detached with a double drive (so no parking issues) and large garden, lots of space for large sheds in the garden (already have 2). As someone has put above, the garage is too narrow for a car.

Thanks all for the advice/ experiences – keep them coming please

Thanks all. Got it replaced with the same one at Screwfix for nothing. Slow drill, cup of water and patience seems to be working so far. Thanks again

Sorry I missed that! I need something much shorter in length. Cheers though

Thanks Bear, I was thinking that one, this will be my third connector now…! I can’t find any flexible ones with jubilee clips on, will I need to venture out further than Screwfix for this? All the flexible ones are way too long that Mclpine do, is there another go to brand?

    Thanks again,

Thanks all, I had my eye on a Mira Leap prior to this post so given Bear’s recommendation I’ll go with that.

Thanks all for your time and support.

Was about to say get some support in place so if the behaviour gets worse but you already did!

I’m a qualified SENCO and work in a PRU supporting permanently excluded children, lots of whom have unidentified/ undiagnosed needs. The trouble is nobody knows how your son’s behaviour will manifest in a few years time, particularly high school. Better to have the support in place now so you will have more options and security for your son in future should it be required.

    Good luck!

Bear – just tried what you suggested, boiler seemed to stay on a little longer when I turned it right down. I have then attempted to bleed cylinder primary pipework as mentioned above. No air was released, just some warm water.

    Any other suggestions?

    Many thanks in advance.

Bear – Thanks for your response. The only place I can find to bleed the ‘cylinder primary pipework’ is coming directly from the cylinder itself, should there be another one elsewhere?

I live in a two story 4 bed detached*

I’ll give the above a go and feedback what happens. Many thanks.

Alanl – Thanks for your response, the boiler only overheats and switches off when I switch on hot water. Annoyingly, the boiler has never been able to do hot water and rads at the same but does one or the other. The heating system (rads) seems to work fine, wouldn’t this mean water is in boiler and pump?. Happy to attempt what you have suggested if you still think it necessary?

Its a Potterton Profile 60e – at least 15-20 years old?, It’s not modern enough for an error code. Although I’m no plumber, I don’t think its a combi boiler. The heating system is pressurised but I don’t get instant hot water. I need to switch for hot water on a daily basis which is heated up by the boiler and stored in a cylinder upstairs.

The heating system is pressurised back up to 1 bar as it was prior to my DIY incident.

The water pressure is fine, assuming you mean how fast it comes out of all taps? This is the same as before my DIY incident.

Please keep the questions coming if it helps. Thanks for the responses so far

Thanks all, I tried the collar adjustment as suggested and it has solved the problem!

Is this a sign that something is wearing/ needs replacing shortly? The said collar is now very loose and will probably move around a bit – will this cause other components to wear more quickly?

Thanks again for all your feedback.

    Kind Regards,

I find with the increased impact on the body I pickup far more little niggles like this with running compared to cycling.

Are you new to running? Are your shoes suitable? Are you carrying too much weight? Have you recently increased your pace/ distance too much? are you giving yourself enough time to rest?

failing all the obvious stuff above (and stretching as mentioned by one other) I’d see a physio. A mate of mine went recently and had a raft of muscle imbalances pointed out to her, some of which she says she can actually see but never noticed.

    Good luck sorting the problem

As a teacher, if presented with this topic 3 years ago I would have been about 3 weeks behind where you seem to be. I changed from teaching in a mainstream school to teaching in a PRU and am currently on my third academic year. My wife has said on many occasions when asked that I am like a new man/ Dad/ Husband etc. The job is fantastic, I sincerely love most days at work and enjoy planning for it. Marking takes me about an hour per week, max. I work from 7 – 3pm Mon-Fri and spend around 2 hours per week during my evenings and weekends planning.

I’d advise you to at least look at other options within teaching as there are plentiful, there’s a massive shortage of English teachers in all classrooms so u’d be hot property too. The Special Needs field is huge, go and investigate what may work for you as it doesn’t appear that mainstream does.

Should you be in the West Yorkshire area I may be able to support, if so let me know.

    Good Luck!

glasgowdan – the comment about being underpowered could be accurate, it has stalled once or twice when going up slight inclines and into longer grass. Is there something I could do to restore it to its original full power (assuming this is the case).

I do empty the bag regularly but will pressure wash it and give the under carriage a good scrub.

    Thanks all.

Nobeerinthefridge – It’s a Mountfield 461r pd, it’s not a ride on but does have a ‘drive’ button. I have tried bone dry with not much grass, it does seem to struggle massively with slight gradients – is this something that others have had problems with?

It doesn’t seem to make a difference if it is set to drive fast or slow.

Thanks for the help so far – I have tried looking in a more suitable place for lawn mower advice but can’t seem to find anything!!

Teach in a PRU instead, I did and love it. Nearly quit my old teaching job in a main stream school I hated it that much.

Go and observe other areas/ schools/ types of schools and see if there’s anything slightly different you fancy.

Wow thanks for all the responses. After reading what Wanmankylung has said via here and email I think it’s down to poor posture in the first instance (sounds similar to your issues scc999). Thanks for sharing all, got my Physio regime back on track now!

wanmankylung – If you are a Physio I would be genuinely interested in hearing your advice. Yes the Physio did say it was a secondary to a postural issue.

Nobody gave me a time frame before? Was doing bizarre exercises with a band for weeks on end and nothing seemed to make any difference… email in profile, advice massively appreciated. At wits end with it!

Yep, that’s why I’m at a loss. I’d go back to the Physio if I had any faith in it working. Anybody had experience of any other methods to sort it?

    Cheers

Sticking out more than they should apparently. Supposedly the stability muscles that hold them in place are weak

    djen83

Oh wow that’s interesting to find I’m not the only one! The Physio said it’s caused by my winging shoulder blades and poor posture. I got no end of exercises to do (seemed to have some short term impact) so was discharged. Bit stuck now though, Osteopathy a viable option?

No it doesnt fit that description, I looked in the bushes and there was nobody around. A young lad did a few shifty looks left and right and slung it on to an elevated grass verge at the side of the road opposite my house. He then ran off! Weird!

I know it doesn’t answer the question but as stated above, I’d recommend that you learn how to do it yourself.

I combine the use of the park tool website – maintenance section

A maintenance book I bought years ago for fiver from Amazon

    Asking questions on this forum

    And countless videos on YouTube

I may not get the same precision as the LBS but I have learned to do the majority of jobs myself. The only thing I wont touch is wheel building.
