Two friends, two orders of £1k+ bikes, both late, badly packed when they did arrive which let to damage. All checklist points checked off as past but gears and brakes not set up properly etc, etc. Both had to be sent back for fixing and so ended up over a fortnight late. Some minor compensation was accepted in both cases but neither realky happy with service or excuses.

    or these?

Looks like another rsp rebranding. The dropper post from Satori rsp is fantastic for the money ie light and reliable. Anyone tried any of these? In the interests of weight saving these padals could give a fantastic return.

Do amfew ridesnpaying attention to what gears you actually use first but I wouls say go for it. Shop around for the best deals and you will hit your budget. There are cheaper N/W rings out there but I have no idea how they will wear if you are riding lots. I am currently runningn slx 11-36 with a works 34t ring and not missed the granny yet God rest her!. Slx/Zee shifter can be had cheap, go slx shadow+ over Zee and an XT cassette. That is probably the most future proof/cost effective combo if you are thinking about a range extender/ One Up rad cage.

I love mine and wouldn’t go back. When it comes time to renew parts the Absolute Black oval ring and casseteexpander are high up on the wish list.

As an aside many people are installing an16t to even out the cassette so if you have one on your 9speed cassette consider keeping it as it will apparently work fine with a 10speed set up. ( Though do some research on all fhese options for peace of mind)

Okay does anyone have anything more to report yet? I have to admit I haven’t been massively with the shifting accuracy since going 1×10 N/W. I like the idea of extended range and crisper shifting. £70 delivered for the complete package from One-Up plus £50 for a new XT mech and chain is not outrageous. Anyone recommend anything other than an XT chain etc?

My SLX cassette and chain are by no means worn out but I think swapping the lot would give best results no? And my works components ring hasn’t seen much action since I fitted it.

Sorata pro here and it’s great. Longer cable added and switch running upside down keeps it out the way. I haven’t touched the post at all internally. Bargain.

Yes thanks for that but I know how to use one and managed to reach the desired torque with the bottom bolt but the top one appeared to slip suggesting I may have managed to strip the thread somehow. And I tightened them incrementally and alternately by the way. A borrowed wrench did the trick, no stripped thread thank goodness. I am at a loss as to what exactly happened to be honest.

If I can’t achieve the required torque then I may use a insert. That’s a great idea thanks.

Both bolts backed off gently and okay. Waiting on a better torque wrench. Thanks again.

Thanks for the replies. Just rushing and saw the bolt move without any extra thread showing. Dumb I know.I will back them both off and reassess. It’s my sons bike so no risk taking.

The issue 2x cranks is known by the ring manufacturers. It seems whatever you do will be less than satisfactory and it is not just a simple bolt on upgrade in the case of 2x cranks. Why none of them mention this or offer a solution is beyond me really. I had to ruin the granny ring and bolt to get it off, two mangled bolts are still stuck fast so I can’t go back and now have to spend more to try and sort it out all the while loosing sunny riding time. Rubbish

Ah this is the forum I need! I have exact same problem with my new Works Components ring andnslx double crank. I think I’ll go the longer chainring bolts and spacers route but question is – How much? Did you guys trythisnor move the bb spacer?

Sounds like your hanger alignment is out too.

It’s straight and true and the mech is a brand new sg slx on a hardtail and the cassette and chain are fairly new also. I think the problem is more to do with chainring spacing on the slx double cranks. The Shimano rings are also slightly raked inwards where the WC ring is pretty flat. I sent an email to Works Components a couple of days ago but not heard back yet.
As for the back pedaling it wasn’t while riding but checking the indexing of the new setup. I’m not riding it as it is that is for sure. The wear rate would be ridiculous. I think it needs longer chainring bolts with spacers to centre the ring but by how much?

I jusr fitted a Works Components 34t to my Slx double. The chainline is awful in the low gears (10?speed cassette) and falls down 3 sprockets whe back-pedaled. Was thinking longer chainring bolts with a spacer to move the ring slightly towards the center? I don’t want to ride it as it is and am waiting to hear from WC as to solutions. The chain also slightly catches the second smallest sprocket and skips a little (at the top of the cassette) when back pedaling. Any suggestions?

Agreed. If you have even a medium 26er frame with long top tube and wide bars the cable run is tight. Also agreed it’s a great piece of kit regardless of it’s budget price.

New sorata pro here. First ride today and it is fantastic regardless of how good value it is. 598g all in is a very competetive weight too. Very smooth action, not to violent on the return and looks okay in matt silver (though the clamp housing is bulky) Switch sits atop the bar though. I can’t find anything on servicing though but perhaps through Raleigh? If it keeps working well I may swap out the remote for the CB Kronolog one running under bar. Oh one more thing is the supplied remote cable is on rhe short side if you have a long toptube and wide bars.

I bought the zoom sorata pro in matt silver and it’s good. It weighs 598g on my scales, well made and looks okay ie looks okay on my bike. Supplied Jagwire cable is quite short really but the action is smooth and light. In short I like it. £71.99 off ebay, good weight, good looks, sturdy and it works.
