I’ve got a medium with 130-90mm Talas on the front, an 80mm(ish) Thomson and a set of Sunline 745 bars with 19mm rise and about 15mm of spacers under the stem. Love it, ride it 10x more than my 5 Spot, would have a shorter stem if I had the right size frame (i should have a large by all accounts).

I find the Mountain Kings Mk2 pretty skinny TBH – nearer my Specialized Captains 2.0 – wish i’d bought the 2.4s.

Well I paid £599 for mine new in a silly crc sale – so probably less than that, where are you based?

Ti Slackline would be amazing, but looking at £1500 I guess which is bit steep. I think maybe a Cotic Soul might be better for my bank balance, are they really as awesome as everyone says? I’ll be looking at running 120-140mm forks BTW.

Yeah, not thought of the carbon one but I am 14 stone so does that class as heavy enough do you think?

Yeah, it’s not over tightened because even out of the seat tube it happens. I assume the cold weather would have nothing to do with it?

FYI Flange – The Mountain Kings II I run most of the time in the UK are pretty good IMO, certainly wouldn’t swap ’em, I think the original MKs were a bit poo though.

Going to be doing the usual dh stuff, pleney, chatel, les gets maybe have a go at champery this year as had no time last year (might save that for the last day though!)

Ok I’m getting the drift that contis aren’t the way forward, is it worth shelling out the extra for the dh casings on the high rollers and should I just go for the 2.35 or bigger? Bearing in mind I’m taking 2010 5 spot w/36s.

Thumbs up to Morzine, last 2 issues of Dirt had a few off the map morzine ride features, theres a guide book too. I stayed at Progressive MTB in Montroid which is a 5-10 minute flat ride to the main lifts in Morzine and was excellent value and Seb the owner was awesome with loads of local knowledge, worth checking out, I think it was £22 per night including breakfast. Also has somewhere secure to store your bike and wash it down. Probably worth the small extra over camping.

Cool, I’ve done it the other way round with more upfront and that’s been great but was worried the bike might feel unbalanced because of the travel difference and steepening the head angle.
