Codeine paint is actually fine, I was really surprised, made my Yeti look cheap in comparison. If you want a large one I have just posted one for sale in the classifieds. :)

Northwind – that might be where the problem lies! They are not the black chilli ones :(

Yeah always ran Minions on the old 26er (RIP) with a High Roller in the back was always good option.

Anyone used the Specialized Butcher or Purgatory, seem to get fairly good reviews and pretty cheap at ~£30 compared to ~£50 for Minions or Magic Marys

Yep they’re good if you like the slightly more than usual back sweep, plenty wide enough and look really good in the silver. They’ve got about 5mm rise due to the way they’re offset so not totally flat but for £20 odd they’re a steal.

Codeine is killer value, no worries for rear tyre clearance either. The more I ride mine the more I like it, quite possibly the best full suspension bike I’ve owned (albeit the only 29er one!)

Got a Reverb I’m about to put up for sale if you’re interested? Complete with bleed kit and all the other gubbins, probably even a box. Used but better than a Joplin for sure!

I had a 2011/12 5 Spot and I loved it and now I have a Codeine and I love it even more, it’s very capable and way faster! My review of my Codeine is here Codeine Review

I’m on a large Codeine and I’m 6’2″, would like it to be a little longer, but its a lot longer than my old 5 Spot.

Wow those look weird! Think I might stick with the flat ones, cheers though.

Rickon, front end is even higher now I’ve stuck on a set of 150mm Pikes! Got a set of zero rise bars on order from CRC to get the front end a bit lower, also now got a set of Stans Flow EX and it had made it feel much more solid, will post an updated review once the Pikes have had a good few outings.

So the £108 Reverb has just rocked up, those of you who are waiting for one, they are Oct 12 dated, have the silver collar on (not the later black one) and don’t come with a bleed kit or enduro collar or original box. Anyway will be listing my newer but secondhand Reverb later, with box and bleed kit.

Took my On One Codeine (130mmR 140mmF) there and it was a hoot. Easily keeping up with people I’m usually as quick as on bikes like a Tracer 275 and an Alpine 160.

Will have my current 30.9 125 Reverb up for sale when this one arrives, got a left hand lever though, if anyone’s interested?

In typical the STW style of recommending what you have – I’d say an On-One Codeine, it’s ace, but as chakaping mentions it would give the Bronson a run for it’s money.

A 29er hardtail would be a very good bet, but then again that’s how I wound up with a 29er FS as well after riding my Big Top small wheels felt very slow!

As it seems to be back in stock on the on-one website thought I’d post my review of my Codeine, since the review I have upgraded the wheels to FLOW EX rims and it’s a whole lot better, Pikes have been ordered today so hopefully will be on by the weekend.

Their desktops and laptops are still by a big margin the best computers out there, and their longevity is outstanding I’ve 3 MacBook Pros the oldest one being 9 years old (1st gen Intel) and still it works pretty well.

Phone and tablet wise they certainly aren’t the best out there, they look beautiful but for the price there is a lot better stuff out there, I lost my iPhone 5S in the summer and it wasn’t insured so didn’t want to shell out £600 for a new one so bought a OnePlus One -probably the best phone I’ve owned and it was £270. Sure it doesn’t look as pretty and it’s not made of such nice materials but it does just show Apple are a luxury brand – they are the Paul Smith suit to my OnePlus One Burton suit.

One Plus One is very good if you can get hold of one, infact I think I saw one in the classifieds (not mine).

    Not weird at all.

    Turner 5spot #1 Tina
    Turner 5spot #2 Anthea
Nicolai – Nicola ( the i sticker had come off)
Yeti Big Top – The Bearded Lady

and all my mates seem to do the same, Gina, Tracey and Betty – an Alpine 160, Tracer and SB66 respectively

Now that’s customer service! (or a very good automated email system!)

Just emailed Thomson the same as above and literally 2 minutes later I got this reply:

You can try cleaning the stanchion and applying silicone spray or car wax and see if that helps. If not, loosen the cable at the lever on the post and cycle by hand and see if it works better.

Well to be honest as a teenager what I really wanted was a set of JUDY DH to go on my most awesome Balance hardtail frame (it was awesome really) and if I remember correctly they were £549.00. I was 15/16 and earned about £2 per hour as a pot wash. Ended up buying some off a friend a few years later when the Z1 Bombers came out and he upgraded his GT LTS DH (what a bike that was!!).

So I think now that I can pick up a set of Pikes for the same money and I earn a considerable amount more than £2ph I think it’s about right.

So all those people you see riding around on expensive bikes, not all just new MTBers with more money than sense, some of us who grew up in the 90’s now have the money to buy the bikes we wanted as kids!

There are plenty more things that are a lot more expensive now which have had no technical innovation over the same period.

Leku – Maxle only has a thread on the drive side, so if someone steps on the swing arm it will still flex/bend.

gravity-slave : found a good spacer for the rear maxle – using an old lock on grip! Seems to fit pretty well.

Well there is that! I guess it’s only a 10 minute job. TBH I’d be happy if it arrives – my mates flown out today only to find no bike in Geneva to meet him.

Excellent news – now which ones shall I get? The ergons seem to come in two sizes and a lot of people reckon the small ones regardless of hand size. I take a size large in Troy Lee gloves so I’d think the large were better?

wwaswas- which ones do you use, toying with the Ergons or the Syncros ones.

Went on Sunday – there are 2 diversions up at the minute but you’re not missing anything good on either. Otherwise it’s pretty much as good as it has ever been condition wise.

Got a set of Vaults which are ace but also got some Deity ones which look pretty much the same as the Nukeproof & Superstar ones which are also pretty good and about half the price.

Vaults have got a bit bent out of shape though.

Yeah, I’m not thinking about riding on walking trails to be fair, I was thinking more of what people ride when the lifts shut, you know local stuff for local people.

Have a look at these guys, they might be able to more than 4m in one length, quite expensive though and only Iroko (which is actually alot better than oak IMO) ww.retrouvius.com/stock/timber

Guy at work bought worktops from here and highly recommends them http://www.worktop-express.co.uk

Or if you’re after a Rolex-a-like MWC do some nice automatic ones
