Mines just done it, two months old !

It’s knocking slightly inside as well !
Prior to that I thought it was a great bit of kit, I think the 3 settings work really well ! Especially the descend bit 😛

It’s made manualing really easy as it appears to have gone square ? Best way I can describe it ? And it just hangs there which is nice, but on the rough stuff its battering me about a bit.

But yeah what they said above, MOJO, Incomming !

Nope I’ll tell you what happened !

Some one saw her ! Thought how disgustingly perverse her none helmet wearing nonchalance was and the fact that she wore a cap was making a mockery of the whole affair !

They daren’t say anything to her for fear of confrontation but then went home logged onto their favoured cycling site “tuliptyrebashers” and tried to disgrace her because she dared not conform !

I’ve just sold a pair of HOPE TECH M4’s on eBay, 4 years old, well used £304 for the pair !

I know that says more about eBay but it paid for my upgrade to tech 4 Evo’s ?
Or downgrade depending on how big your riding group is !

There’s a lot to be said to riding on your own !

Junkyard “How very dare you” its ALL about the looks !

Pusseywillow, what Bollox ! Your just ANTI Hope ! “A big group of people you ride with are obviously HOPE – Less

A big group, I’d call that 20 ? A small group = 5 ? a group = 10 so a big group must number 20 ? And not one if them has a good thing to say about hope brakes ?

Do you work for SHIMANO ? Or your friends ? Or family ?

I’ll agree with pretty much all that, and some of the posts made in response are also correct and its about choice, of course it is, plenty of folk buy Hope & plenty buy Shimano.

I would always buy HOPE ! Simple reason for me any way it works in the UK !
    Headset, hubs, brakes,

I know hope have moved into the drivetrain department but I would never buy their running gear, for this I would always use SHIMANO.

I’m quite narrow minded in that respect, I won’t use any other peddle engagement only SPD, others are available obviously but I know what I know and wouldn’t sway too much from that, its a good review though and well written and if you are in the market and not sure then this is what the forum needs, honest reviews.

    As a comparison my Nomad has Evo tech M4’s 183 / 183
I rode an identical set up save for the forks and the front end braking was washy in comparison as the forks on the donor bike were under Specced in my opinion, this totally affected braking.

Before wearing that I’d stop biking altogether !

I’d love to go on a ride with several other people who were all wearing them so I could chuckle at the amount of Negligent Discharges that were going off !

Trail Bike is dictated by which forum you frequent not which grade the trail is !
Just ignore those coloured signs and ride round them the wrong way !

It’s all the rage, or at least it is every time I ride a trail centre

Hi, they’re not hope hoops, they are hand built custom Jobbies, its proper tape,

And I’ve even ridden them !

Although I was told to fit them and leave them overnight and not ride straight away ? I bobbed 60 PSI in them initially reducing this to 30 ish for riding ?

I thought the ENDURO Term had been robbed from Moto-X and the fact that not everyone could do it so the cop out was to ride ENDURO as it was deemed less Gnaaaarrrrr ? Basically easier ?

And sort of eased the Moto-X riders into retirement ?

Or have I got the wrong end of the stick again ?

Hang on what do you mean 1 Bike

Aren’t we all supposed to have 6 bikes ?

    2 29ers
1 hard tail from the 90’s

    Is that 6 ?

What Rich said, it went 29er Super Speed ! AM became……….. If you ain’t got big wheels you ain’t tryin hard enuff !

Soon to be replaced with ………….. I’m not putting the wheel size down because it will turn it into another wheel size related debate !
When really its a bike, plain and simeple a bike !

The only difficult bit is not being green enough to believe what the marketing moguls spin off about Technolgy that’s not caught up or the components sector is letting the wheel size down !

Ooooops I’m off on one, time for me to drive round in my car again with STRAVA activated !

You can mask the smell with some Gaylord softener but as soon as they get on the skin and warm up then your nostrils will be full of the smell again,

I’m guessing you have worn them for more than 1 ride before washing, and they are man made fibre ones ?
There isn’t a lot you can do for them I’m afraid its a problem with the fibre being man made.

They really become much less grippy but its that slow your riding style will adjust to match it, I replaced some original High Rollers that have been on at least two other bikes, the rear was well worn to the point where all the centre section was well rounded, it certainly dragged a lot less but braking efforts were increased due to the due ramped edges rounding off, also climbing but not that noticeable in the dry weather we have had for the past 6 months !

I put HR 2’s on and when braked rear I damn near slammed against the bars, they bit dug in and stopped fairly sharpish

2,000 miles on a MTB tyre is a hell of an achievement
Arkwright would be impressed with that !!!

    Well done !

I’m using yellow tape, and MAXXIS High Roller 2 dual ply jobbies

    42 front
    60 rear

Cannot hear air escaping and not tried the bath yet, initially put 60 psi in left it overnight then dropped to just over 30 before I rode, yes I’ve ridden in them, a couple of hundred miles, seems OK whilst riding to be honest but they just drop pressure for no reason ?

I wonder if its the valve ?

I put six little scoops in there as it was the first time I’d used it, I shook the bottle from hell and back prior to and whilst applying it? Spun the wheels, flipped em over side to side back to front rolled around then took apart and re did with another 4 scoops,

Then lost patience and put tube in, then it started holing the tubes !

Now I’m considering putting my old Mavics back on ?

I’ve got a couple of pairs of Genuine Oakleys that i dont like riding in because they are titanium frames and i dont want them wedged in my bonce, and after the frames on my Endura ones went brittle with the sun I think ? Altho I have t had them UV tested to prove this I bought a pair of foakleys and they are shit, they are lob sided on my face, the ear stems are barely long enough to fit on my fat heed and the lense is not as good as genuine Oakleys

I’m not saying they won’t pass a UV test but its like riding a nice bike compared to riding a halfords special, they genuinely feel like a pair of £20 sun glasses, which is fine if your used to wearing a pair of £10 sun glasses not so good if you aren’t !

It’s not difficult and having played the game yourself your skills knowledge and little tricks will become invaluable, I’ve given up my Sundays for the past 3 years to coach the team my 9 year old plays in, its stopped me riding my bike on a Sunday morning and I get to strut about on the pitch in shorts with all the fit mums laughing at my legs !!!!!!!

My point is, if you don’t like it don’t come on here moaning about it like women in a corner shop.

Speak up and tell them them that they’re fat useless **** or dangerous or pig headed for not folding their bikes up on a packed commuter train !

People moaning in forums and shouting out “yeah you who rode the wrong way round a roundabout” on the off chance that they are on here is pathetic, I do lots of things that I’m not supposed to do ! If you don’t like what others do then tell them !

Edlong, no prizes for guessing what you will be wearing on Saturday morning then ?

And, I must have written my post wrong As I was trying liken one to the other,
MAMILS. Not right ! But I don’t really care as long as it encourages riding bikes,

Golden Balls. Again not right with their copycat tattoos cheap Audi cabrios, ugly birds and beer guts, again not right but flaying football on a field with a wanabee pro footballer littered with dog shit is still playing football its just that some people like to raise their profile by pretending that not everyone can do it !

By the way, GT85 on the zipper will see it straight over the midriff

Whilst I have an unhealthy hatred towards any one who is NOT a professional rider wearing Lycra I still cannot condone it because I genuinely believe that the person is riding riding their bike for a reason, be it because they are FAST in their mind ? They are reliving their youff, they could have been a pro but had a snapped clavicle or a nasty off on a greasy surface rendering their career over before it began,

For reference see all the 40 year old David Beckham wannabes littered across the country on a Saturday morning busting out of their track suits teaching kids football, if it hadn’t been for that broken metatarsal they could have been worth £83 million !

Any way, I digress if that 1 person can only enlighten another person to perch on that seat then we get another cyclist,

I wear black when I ride, sometimes with no helmet, but I do this to piss people off on the off chance I can have a good debate in front of said gobby bastards wife his kids and friends on a trail in the middle of nowhere !
I usually win that debate and push it that little bit further by swearing in front of his kids just to see how brave he really is ?
Bike riding is really an extension of your personality “well for me it is” you can generally see this by the bikes that some folk ride, boring bastards always ride the same MTB’s ! They always drive Audis or BMW’s and they always know best !
But at least they are riding their bike !

It’s not even difficult to do, it’s just that some people like to believe they are so much better at it than every one else, BUT its still called bike riding or as my Dad used to say, there’s them that ride bikes and then there’s bike riders !

I remember the bike industry trying to flog monocoque frames as the “next” best thing that would revolutionise the industry ! sometime in the early 90’s i think,

suffice to say that petered out, i know my opinion is worth **** all on here and when some one posts anything that resembles the truth on here they are labelled a troll.

So, and this is only my opinion, Big wheeled bikes roll faster ? they still need pedalling and they have to go round corners, try walking down a spiral staicase with a full size ladder and then try it with a step ladder,

i’m not trying to preach to the converted and the same has to be said with most things, the reason why you ride it is because you bought it and you bought it because you thought it was the “best” / “right” bike for you. Whether you were told it or whether you worked it out for yourself only you know, but if you ride a 26″ bike and 29″ bike back to back and find it quicker ‘MTB” ing then can you clearly define “MTB”ing ?

Because i cant ride a 29er on the rough choppy switchback stuff that i ride ? am i doing it wrong or has my BMX background influenced the way i ride ? flowy, floaty, manualing, hopping, hip jumping methods ?

has the influx in Road biking determined this bigger wheel size with its new breed of rider ?

For me the whole reason i ride is because its an extension of a BMX, i’m not keen to move on from this ! i’m not sure others are too ?

its all well and good stating that the hardwares not cooked, nothings ready to support it ! once its ready it will spell the end………………. the riders have to feel comfortouble on it !
Sure they have to do as they are told but at the end of the day competition is fierce and no one wants to miss out on a podium because they were made to ride a bike that they cant compete on ?

I’ve snapped a few chains, 8 speed & 9 speed, Shimano ones to be fair which were shite in the 90’s as far as I can remember, then SRAM seemed to corner the market with the power link and reliability, I’ve been 10 speed for over 2 years now and not snapped 1 ?

My Shimano chain XT that I put on when everything went 2 X 10 lasted and lasted and I replaced this when I noticed that on several links there was a split at the top of the link above the joint on the figure of 8 !
It didn’t snap tho ! And there were about 6 links like this. I don’t know how many miles it had done I can’t be arsed counting, I’ve since gone KMC and this one Is holding up well too,

I’d like to think that 10 speed chains were less forgiving than their fore bears just like I’d like to believe that tubes are better than tubeless, but they aren’t !

That’s just my opinion of course, others may find they have evidence to the contrary but I can’t speak for those so I’ve just reported on what I know not what I have read on the Internet somewhere !

I’d suggest looking at your diet, the release of correct energy giving nutrients, I know its an old cliche but I really do find porridge gives you that oooomph !

Carbs the day before or night before

Flapjack as well, home made stylie, I went to the pines yesterday afternoon, there must have been a thousand cyclists, I went round the green and blue with my mrs and the kid which is a great warm up and saw about 3 riders on the trails ! Either they know somewhere better to ride in the pines or they ain’t riding ?

Then I cracked round the red twice ! I said this before on a seperate thread on here, it takes me ages to warm up, years ago I used to do a fair bit of riding in Scotland and by the time I’d warmed up every one else was hanging out, my breathing is erratic and concentration shot.

I rode Dalby on Friday and didn’t get warmed up till Dixons Hollow which is about a 3rd of the way round, I parked in Thornton and rode in to warm up / down.

For me in the most part it’s concentration / fueling / mindset.

If I eat sandwiches before a ride the bread kills me, eating and then perched on a bike just sits in my gut and I can feel it in my pedaling and breathing, this affects my concentration and I just wander off completely then when I’m away with the fairies I’m off the boil and cannot get back into it !

Stress, sleep, also effect me massively,

The best way to regulate my erratic breathing is the old fashioned in thro your nose out thro hour mouth routine, it really fills and expands your lungs with clean fresh air and gets me ready for heavy CV activity
