How can you trust any one who wears NIKE Air Trainers, Gangster Granny.
i cant beleive the BBC have even managed to corrupt a Mary Berry programme about baking a Cake, Having just watched it back on iplayer i dont think he over reacted at all, i thought he was severely lacking in the over reacting department and just wandered off.

Personally i’d have knocked the power off to the tent so that filming would have had to re start putting everyone back on an even keel and then i’d have taken her ice cream and put it in the oven and the meringue in the fridge.

If you have this on your list of things to ride then I wouldn’t let this put you off UNLESS as a few have said you go up during or after a heavy rainfall, then you will not be happy.

But, at the minute the conditions are excellent, personally it’s all rideable* we all have differing abilities and I’m no Dark Peaks master, the hardest bit is the push up the first bit from the ford if doing it from Slippery Stones “Ladybower side”
In my opinion this is the best way* because then you can zip down Notth America and to the polkodot cafe at Langsett where you can reward yourself 🙂

You can do either side, ride it slow or fast and even get off and push a bit but its a bloody good trail to miss out on because there are a few ruts, which you woukdnt find at a trail centre, imagine that.

I watched it the other night, or at least part of it. I had to turn it off as i was snapping just watching the whole ice cream melting in the heat thing. I had no idea what had happened until I saw the news streams yesterday.

Its funny how every one is making a Hue & Cry about it demanding that he be re instated as though they are standing by the cameras with a clapper board awaiting soscial medias reaction?

As you said people need to get a grip, as for the winner it’s the woman from Lincolnshire with the woman from the house in the shoe face that wins it,

    Oooooh, spoiler

My nob confession was in response to Sancho’s nob & tossers post for MTB’s keeping up with roadies, its funny how when you wear Lycra you suddenly become elitist, and when you cant ride everyone else becomes a nob & a tosser.

And as for being in a Zone 1 recovery phase of a ride, it is true then that ALL Lycra wearing wanabeees are infact Pro athletes at the Peak of Physical fitness. Recovering from Injury or just finished a grand tour.

Its pathetic, but keep pretending its real.

I’m off to dig out my Team GB medals for posterity.

I wasnt hanging on the back, once id passed them i actually got to the front, it was the Fat MAMIL’S that were hanging on at the back,

As you say it is all about perspective, if you leave the house in Full on Lycra you wouldnt want a Fat Bluffer on a MTB passing you would you ?
Or maybe you would, or maybe you even have ? i dont think i’m a God but i can ride a bike, as for being jealous i’m not sure they were and i certainly am not jealous of wearing Lycra and riding a road bike.

Ive been there and done that. Its boring. and the worst part is that to be accepted you all think its right that Lycra is cool.

    Its not,

I’m a nob and I regularly keep up with the Roadies in full Lycra whilst riding to & from my local riding spot, how this is possible I have no idea ? I’ve been told Lycra is better because it doesent flap about in the wind like my baggy top and baggy shorts thus making the rider more comfy and streamlined.

Where as I am relying on a good pair lungs and a strong pair of legs to see me through maybe I should just shell out for a Team top then I will be as fast as old Bradders.

It doesent help that a Team Sky rider lives in the same village as me, it’s like having a Spice Girl living round the corner.
    Some people have No shame.

I think you should make the Purchase, I think cool middle chicks look great in Lycra 😆

Daftvader, it’s the Lycra it Chafes, makes you wince and somehow clamps your scrotum to your leg, the end result is ball ache, imagine dangling your sack above the rear tyre so it gets swept betwixt the U brake and tyre it kinda feels like that, or so I would imagine, allegedly.
This results in the Thousand mile stare, the lack of communication is all part of the “I’m racing not riding” scene,

CG apologies for my inane ramblings and the picture that you have in your head of…… Well sorry,

Looks like you had the weather as well

As for being acknowledged, I wouldn’t worry. I bet you made No attempt to wear Lycra and your top was probably un coordinated with your bottoms.

Roadies hate that, and motorists, and pedestrians, speed bumps, traffic lights, Zebra crossings, instant coffee………….

That sort of thing, as CG said just smile and nodd your head Nonchalantly

Dannyh, I totally agree with your comments re Ratboys run down the hill. He looked slower than any of the others so much so I was gritting my teeth at the 2nd split,

Peaty is Old School, there’s no mistaking that, beer Pizzas and No training, he and the likes of Warner were not what you might call pro racers, but then the DH scene in the early 90’s was in its infancy so we knew no difference and they were pushing the sport and bike technology on in leaps and bounds

Fast forward ten years or so and the Athertons were marketed as the new wave in British MTBing, clean well spoken and toned, there’s no doubting that all 3 could and still can ride a bike but this was a bit of a wake up call because some riders started working out and fitness levels were soon as important as skill and if you had the two then all you had to do was remain upright on the bike and the combination of the two split the field.

RATBOY!!!! Sorry I nicked that from elsewhere,
The next generation, these guys and gals have lived through the Evolving DH scene and cut their teeth on the basics which were serious DH runs 20 years ago. I think the way RATBOY rides a bike is effortless, it’s almost like he’s not trying, he’s a massive game changer and the next wave in Cycling DH. He has realised that he’s got more than enough to compete and win and you can see he has changed from last season to this and as he matures he will probably learn the words to the National Anthem, stop showing his arse everywhere altho Peaty still does it at 40 ? So maybe not,

Minaar will prob go ride ENDURO but I reckon Peaty Will end up in British Cycling some where, or managing the Syndicate team first ?

Either way the next few years are going to be interesting, if only to see look on Gee Athertons face 🙂

I’m not sure a Cycling Forum is the best media source for discussing overall standings on Individuals or team standings,

There’s probably some one in Kuala Lampur who’s not up yet and not had chance to check on yesterday’s race results so in the interests of those who need protecting from their own stupidity it’s probably best we all stick to discussing diets, carb loading and narrow wide chain rings.

    Agreed, new frame

Either buy a new full complete bike with huge savings from one of the big online retailers or scroll thro the classifieds and buy a second hand one.

I know which one I’d do,

I also think its boring, and lacks Flow. Its one of the only places in the country which I really don’t like.

For a trail centre, which has a trail and no centre ? It’s lacking,
The terrain is pretty rugged, this is what makes it stuttery as its kind of man made but not sculptured and it’s not natural either. None of the descends are long enough to permit any flow and just when you think you are getting on a bit it stops.

I don’t think its difficult* it’s certainly not as hard as Dalby but then that’s not sparkling either.

From York Gisburn is a bastard place to get to. But then that’s why you have done Dalby to death.
instead of driving to Gisburn I’d do Wharncliffe or the Peaks.
Admittedly Wharny isn’t that long or flowy but at least it will make your Granny’s T towel holder pucker up and the peaks, if that doesent do it for you nothing will, that descent off the back of Winn Hill to the Steps and down, better than any descent in any trail centre,

If I venture out on a 30+ miler with no fuel in the tank I wouldn’t make it, I wouldn’t make it past the first day let alone the multi day rides,

It matters not whether I eat healthy or crap, I could eat healthy all week but if I ventured into the Peaks having trained myself to starve I’d be in trouble, where would the 3 thousand calories come from ?

Don’t fall into that trap of thinking that it’s been made for 10 years…………

They have been making swivel housings for 65 Years and they haven’t stopped them leaking in all that time, figure that one out.

I’ve had No problems with mine, it’s silent and robust and really well made.
The load space is huge, there’s a lot to go wrong in one but it’s a lot of car 😛

I’ve got one, they are great cars, heavy and thirsty but really comfortouble to drive.

Loads of space inside, bike in back with wheels on.
And a double air bed fits nicely in the back for those early starts at CYB

Edited to add, I’m on my 2nd, I had a 3 before and that was no problem, usual wear & tear items, tyres brakes etc.
Servicing costs are quite high but it’s a premium product so you pay for it.

Main dealers will take the piss if you let them, at the end of the day that’s what the warranty is for,

I have had one before knock and it was so Fookin annoying whilst climbing, my last one went internally and this one seems a tad better so far, 1 week on.
