Paying £22 per month with Plusnet for 38Mb, it includes a phone line which we don’t really use.

I doubt I’ll notice the weight penalty – it’s for my commuter – a Pompino with mudguards and marathon plus tyres.

Silver for me as I took a break off Sky for a few months last year to get a better deal, previously I’d been with them for about 6 years.
I’ll be ditching them again anyway once the current contract ends.

I’ve got a Carradice Nelson with SQR rack, used for commuting pretty much every working day for the past 5 years or so and it’s still going strong – it could do with reproofing at the moment and has 1 or 2 holes in it from me falling off.
They are a bit pricier than rack/panniers but I’m hoping it will still be going strong in another 5 years. It’s also been called into service for a few bike packing trips.

Have a look at the Carradice SQR Slim saddlebag with the SQR bracket, you should be able to mount it quite high on the seatpost to get best aero position for it.
Prehaps you could bodge some kind of fairing to make it more aerodynamic?

Is the grip on the Marathon Supreme’s better than Marathon Plus? I’ve had a few offs this year due to crap grip on wet brickwork on Birmingham canals.

I had a square taper bb that was still going strong after about 14 years of use, it only got replaced what I changed to an Octalink crank.

    1. Finish a 100 mile road ride

I completed my first 100 mile last weekend which was a few months earlier than I had planned – it was on the Bloodwise / Wiggle Bikeathon in 6h 25m, I’ll need to have a look at either some better bib-shorts or the saddle on my road bike as I could barely sit down on the ride to work the next day.

I think I’ll add doing the VeloBirmingham in under 6 hours onto the cycling goals.

Try the Tyn-y-Capel in Minera – its a community owned pub just down the road, when I popped in at Xmas it had a nice selection of real ales.

Bluetooth audio uses compression doesn’t it? The cable should sound better, whether you can hear the difference is another thing.

3 Bed semi with 2 adults – we average about £35 a month over the year, can be as high as £90 a month in the depths of winter and less than a tenner a month April to Sept.

what about a raspberry pi running RetroPie
    https://retropie.org.uk/

I’ve got one and it’s ok, doesn’t quite have the plug and play aspect that the SNES mini will have, no config issues, memory card corruption to worry about and most importantly no SNES shaped box next to the TV.

Yes, missed the first round of pre-orders on Game and Amazon but snagged one on the Nintendo website yesterday.

I look forward to resuming the battles of years gone by on Mario Kart with my brother. The only other game I’d have liked to have seen included is Pilotwings as I loved that game.

Hope it comes to normal telly or Netflix before too long.

It’s on Sky so I’m not sure that it will, though a NowTV box would probably sort out out for it.

while we are talking about this sort of thing – have all the Chromecast audio £15 deals dried up?

Out of curiosity what’s the benefit of using Chromecast audio over Bluetooth? I’ve got a Q Acoustics soundbar with Bluetooth on it but it can be a bit glitchy sometimes.

Strange conclusion – after all, the personal allowance has risen from £6.5k to £11.5k under the evil Tories

Wasn’t this a Libdem policy the Tories carried on with?

How are you powering off the Pi? If your just unplugging them then that will be the cause of the SD card corruption.

In related news, I had a shock yesterday. I had a music channel on on TV and they played “Hey Mickey.” I thought, I wonder whatever happened to Toni Basil, and had a Google.

It transpires… she’s 73. Born in 1943, would’ve been 39 when she was bounding around like a schoolgirl in that video. Jaysus.

I’d dismissed the remake of ghost in the shell due to the casting of Scarlett Johanssen as Major Kusanagi but it’s looking pretty good from the trailers though I’m going to wait for the reviews before going to watch it.

Impressed by a 10 year old girl cycling 100 miles to Rhyl and back on a 3 speed Raleigh.

Yes it put my worries about doing 100 miles on VeloBirmingham sportive later in the year in perspective :D

How accurate are the speeds reported by Zwift – they seem a bit quicker ( around 5km/h) and as a result are messing up my best times for a given distance on Endomondo.
Weight and height are accurate and the turbo trainer has been calibrated using the Tacx app.

I too thought EU regs do say 2 years, you might want to check that

Yes I plan to, got to try a hard reset on the phone when I get home this evening before having to deal with warranty repair

This is the chatlog from earlier:
09:40:37 AM]Simone: Please bear in mind that if we need to send th ephone for repair, it would be a chargeable one becasue the device is out of warranty by date
[09:41:13 AM]disco_stu: Don’t items sold in the EU have a 2 year warranty?
[09:41:30 AM]Simone: Yes but in the UK it is only 12 months I am afraid
[09:42:31 AM]disco_stu: The UK is still part of the EU though isn’t it?
    [09:42:37 AM]Simone: Yes it is
[09:42:43 AM]Simone: but it has different regulations
[09:43:05 AM]Simone: I believe for the high consumption of tech products
[09:43:21 AM]Simone: You can find it written in our terms and condition anyway

Heads up for those considering a Motorola, my Moto X Play has died after about 14 months the support person I’ve just been speaking to has said you only get a 12 month warranty for repairs – I thought you got a 2 year warranty on electrical products?

Wonder what odds you were getting on a NE win at halftime

My other half won £50 from a fiver, she put it on with about 5 minutes to go on normal time. The odds when it was 28-3 must have been astronomical!

So it looks like it’s a book rather than music, I would like to hear some new music by them but I don’t think it could manage to live up to their previous stuff.
