Cheers BigJohn I’m pretty much convinced after the description of the gyros!
What was the mountain biking like there?

Has anyone been to the Aeolian beach resort? Got a week booked off in September and it’s one of the options we are looking at.

Good luck! 3 members of my cycling club are doing it, one of them on a trike which sounds a bit mad if you ask me :D

@13thfloormonk I’m after a lighter fork to replace the stock Pompino one, what’s the tyre clearance like on that carbon fork?

As kog as you have full length mudguards it will be a handful of times in a year that you would need them, spare socks + overshoes should cover most of the eventualities.

Is the Hard drive a solid state one? If not I’d look to get one of those.

Its the West Midlands Cyclo cross league and runs from Sept to Jan so I guess it will run from mud free to a mudbath.

I have no plans to worry the podium chasers this season maybe next year lol.

Trimix – its the West Midlands CX league, I did see that Tim Gould the MTB pro from the 90s raced at least 1 of the races in the series last year.

RichardK if the tyres are in good nick I’ll take them, let me know how much postage would be, and Thank you for the offer.

Ah, didn’t spot the tapered bit when I had a quick look during my lunch break, it doesn’t save much weight over a standard Pompino fork so it’s probably not worth the effort – thanks Stoner for the pic of the Pompino weight.
Lodger can you send some pictures please?

This fork on the Kinesis site looks as if it ticks most of the boxes
    https://www.kinesisbikes.co.uk/Catalogue/Forks/Cyclocross/RL02-ALLOY

Anyone know the weight of a stock Pompino fork for comparison?

I watched it yesterday on the Imax in Birmingham, thought it was fantastic. Though watching the start of it made me want to watch a documentary on the training and building of the Saturn V launches are there – is there anything good on Netflix?

Get a Carradice Nelson with the SQR mount, I’ve got a laptop in mine a fair few times.
When not in use you end up with a small plastic block on the seat post.

I read an article on the Guardian at the weekend on a stockmarket type setup for sneakers, have a look – I’ve never used this site though.

Looks like based on 1 sale you might get close to £300 for them!

what’s the thoughts on those metal filters you get? Do they improve the taste in anyway, other plus is better for the baby seals not using a disposal filter all the time

I had a metal filter and went back to the paper filters. I didn’t really notice any difference in the taste but the coffee stuck to the filter so required a tiny bit more effort in the morning to clean up after making a coffee so decided it wasn’t worth it.

I have an Intel Nuc, just add RAM and a hard drive.
It’s not completly silent as there is a small fan but it’s barely noticable.

Though they will only take 1 2.5 drive, you could get a caddy for the other drive and connect via usb3.

I managed to get out on the bike for 3 days, longest ride was from Los Christianos to Vilaflor via San Miguel and back to Los Christianos – 17 miles of uphill, one 5.5 mile section took me about 50 minutes, looking on Strava CHris Froome managed it in less than half the time, I was very tempted to get off and walk towards the end!

If I go there again I’d try and arrange a full day out on the bike to see if I could get to Teide.

So the Chinese have already been caught sneaking extra chips into server motherboards during the manufacturing proces

I think the report by Bloomberg on this from last year has been discredited.

Thanks for the advice, I’ll try the road to La Camella and see how far I can get up Tiede in the time I have, I’m ‘training’ for VeloBirmingham which is on the 12th but on an all-inclusive holiday lol

I had a neighbours tom cat come in and piss on my cycling shoes so we had to go for one that recognises the chip on the cats. Shoes had to be thrown out as they stank :(
We have a Sureflap one for our two cats, been working faultlessly for a few years.

I had some physio sessions to sort out knee pain which flared up half way round a 100 mile ride last year.
Stretches sorted my knee out after 6 weeks or so but it does return from time to time.
My Physio recommended that I also look at Bike Fit to try and see if it’s the position / setup of the bike which is causing the knee pain.

The last few times I’ve been through security through Birmingham it’s only taken about 10-15 minutes.
We flew with Jet2 in November and the desk checkin took about 5 minutes.

If your in the northern part I’d go to Castelsardo, Stintino for the beach and Neptune’s Grotto. We stayed in Alghero, which is also worth a visit as it’s a lovely walled town.

Thought’s on this after it’s finished? The last episode was a bit of a letdown compared to the previous 7. Overall better than season 2, not as good as 1.

I’d recommend getting a Carradice Saddlebag with an SQR Mount on the seatpost instead of a rucksack.
You’d want to look at a SuperC or Nelson ( depending on the size of the laptop )

I ditched sky about a year ago and moved over to Plusnet, I was paying about £80 a month for Sports, TV, Phone and Broadband wit hthem once the deal with Sky we were on ended – I only really watched LFC games, Game of Thrones and John Oliver so decided it wasn’t worth paying the extra, the only thing I really do miss the Sky plus pause/catchup.
You can get BT Sports with Plusnet for about £5 a month.

Having only just bought a Minilogue the arrival of the XD was a bit of a wounder, I’m hoping that the Minilogue might get some new firmware in the future to update the sequencer on the Minilogue ( possibly wishful thinking there )

Currently I have the Minilogue, Monilogue, Volca Sample and FM with some FX pedals,

Things that have piqued my interest are the Digitone and Volca Drum, the Behringer Crave looks a bit of a steal at the price though I have the Monologue so it’s a little lower down the list.

The 8th Gen mobile i5’s are pretty nippy, using https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_list.php to compare them the i5-8259U is on a par with some Ryzen 5 desktop chips.
I know that for sustained performance it’s best to get a desktop chip but I’d imagine for most peoples needs they are more than good enough.
