Just listened to Dez’s mix, having been meaning to for monthssss (Eskay’s to follow). Really like it, need a tracklist though!

Hayzoos, Cynic-Al, you are the touchiest wee soul, aren’t you. Maybe ther are better mediums to express your angst through?

I’m anawer to your question, though, the answer is book editors.

    You’re welcome.

If you want to spend, I’ve had a Filson bag for years, it’s tough as boots, very weatherproof. Amazing customer service (they sent me an add on, for free, overnight from Seattle). Not UK made like the Millican ones though, which are also nice.

I’ve got a lightly used 20.5″ Alfine Fortitude I could be persuaded to sell? Bought it as a winter bike but Zwift.

Weird, they’re just about my favourite online store. Used them numerous times, returned stuff, all dealt with really efficiently and with quick delivery.

I own the Sonys and have you previously owned the QC35s. The noise cancelling is better on the Sonys, by a fair margin, and the sound quality is very nearly as good as the Bose. Overall I’d say they’re a touch better.

There have been some issues with the arms snapping, but for me they’ve been much more reliable than any of the 3x different Bose headphones I’ve previously had.

    Very good price that, too.

I can’t tell if people are arguing or agreeing with each other on this thread. Going back to bed.

I used to work for the publisher of Tiger Who Came To Tea (and Dr Seuss, amongst many others) and have met Judith Kerr many times.

It’s definitively NOT about Nazis. Also Judith is amazing, she’s in her 90s, less than 5 foot tall, and loves a drink. Last time I saw her she was necking negronis at an award ceremony.

The book is definitely nonsensical, but as others have said, kids love it. 50th anniversary of the first publication next year, so she’s clearly doing something right!

Currently in Colorado, doing some riding. It takes about 10 minutes max to adapt. Just avoid blatting down a cliff in the first 10 mins and you’ll be fine.

Wait a minute, if you think you should put up with noise, that makes you a ‘liberal’? Jeez, I’ve been approaching this whole politics thing all wrong. Thanks Kaiser!

When all the BBC kerfuffle about him was going on, a girl at work was shocked to discover Cliff Richard wasn’t black.

Ah, it’s a typo. Shame, I know about budgies as I used to work in a pet shop. Got sacked in the end though, got caught with my hands in the trill.

Would be very interested in your thoughts on the new bike (FF?), found this thread very informative!

I’m pretty local to you, and have tried numerous bikes, all 29ers. By far the best is the Stache 5 I picked up 2nd hand. Perfect* for SDW long rides and amazing in Friston and Stanmer. My favourite bike by some distance.

*except in winter, plus tyres weigh a ton with clayey Friston mud. Fortunately it seems like it will never rain ever again, so all good!

I bought a Stoemper. Liked it so much I bought another one. Not British but sort of Belgian / American. Both frames are beautifully welded and amazing to ride. They do some quality paint schemes as well AND have a cool head badge (which is obviously essential)

There’s lots of things you can do to boost visibility. Amazon own Good Reads, where you can post your bicycle related erotica, and get it reviewed. People can then buy said saddle-worrying essay from the ‘Zon.

So ESIs are squidgy, and not foamy comfortable? I was envisaging some nice cheap shock absorption. Is that not the case? Why are people so keen on them then?

There’s some really good trails around Roque Alric and Beaumes De Venise. Also fun stuff around the Dentelles. If you ask in Cycles Louison in Beaumes they can point you in the right direction. They also sell a Vaucluse trail guide book.

If Crikey was still active he’d tell you about how all you need is a wrist sundial and how he ran his first marathon wearing a granite one he’d had to carve that very morning, and your generation don’t know your born, all skill compensators, just go for a run, etc, etc.

In other news, I have a Fenix 3, which seems accurate in terms of GPS and HR (with a strap). My missus has a forerunner with the built in HRM, which is good but quite often has mad spikes, and the occasional inaccurate GPS data.

Just getting the components is on the table as well. Just mildly worried about being OCD and disappearing down an anodising rabbit hole byspending an inordinate amount of time returning chain ring bolts that aren’t quite the right shade of chartreuse.

In Brighton they are inexplicably popular with tweed bedecked, moustachioed, bellend ‘creatives’ who actually work in shitty retro clothes shops. I suspect for the sole reason that they can bray about how very alternative they are, and gosh I only really watch world cinema, you know, oh that’s interesting, however are you aware I once teabagged a member of Alt J,… AND **** OFF YOU FECKLESS BORE-LORDS.

    YMMV

I used to look after the erotica section in a bookshop. The best seller was a book called Virgin Sailors that had the best tag line I’ve ever seen – “All Hands On Dick”

Jazz. Pretended to like it at uni to try and pull a pretty girl, couldn’t maintain the pretence.
My missus loves it as does all of her family. Every so often someone suggests that “I’ll definitely love this tune” and it’s always shite.

Also poetry and theatre. Would rather watch a film.

And sherry. I love nearly all forms of booze, but I’ve never had a sherry I like, even after having tried the ‘good stuff’. Tramp’s piss.

Surprised they discontinued the Deadwood, presume it didn’t sell…

Dovebiker – good point on the extra reach, hadn’t thought of that. I could get a shorter stem, though that may cock up the handling with a narrower bar. May all be too risky to spend much cash on.

Oh man, wish you hadn’t told me about the Deadwood. Didn’t need an expensive alternative option!
