Yeah Arch EX es are 21mm internal, however, tyres tend to come up a touch wider than on other manufacturers 21mm internal rims due to the low bead hook.

Been running a 2.5 Minion on mine for the the last two years, no issues to report.

Let down by lack of tri bars.

Think they would compliment each other nicely.

Have you tried Robert Axle Project? Don’t know the specifics of your trailer/hook up but they may have something that will work.

Looks ok to me, file the burrs off, replace the cassette with an XT,SLX or similar (needs to have an alloy carrier) and tighten it, proper tight 40nm.

but i have a very annoying problem of it not shifting into the 42t ring occasionally and when pedalling, sometimes it is very noisy and I can feel vibrations only noticeable the higher up the cassette you go.

Is the b knuckle correctly adjusted?

From your description it sounds like the upper jockey wheel may be too close to the cassette causing it to pulse/jump up and down on the cassette teeth.

Nowt wrong with Decathlon, 150 gram carbon bar for 30 quid seems like a bargain to me.

Whats the plan, to link Penmachno to The Marin?

As above, pins come out either way.

The new bearings have a bigger ID (which meant re-designing the freehub) meaning that the hub axle can have thicker walls.

Ta, wasn’t sure, so in theory should be a bit more reliable.

Just buy a damper service kit, bought one for my 36s as a spare so not fitted yet.

Think it was around 15 quid, came with bladder.

Lusso, made in the UK, if that sort of thing matters.

The axle is 12mm and the bearings are 15mm, so you’re only leaving 1.5mm wall thickness!

What’s the score with the new one (EVO), smaller bearings thicker axle?

If they’re loosing pressure then you need an airspring service kit.

    A service could mean anything.

2015? Should still be under warranty, 2 years on Rockshox.

    Exploring a brake’s limits

    :D

I still stand by the comment that I use my brakes much more aggressively on road than I do off, the loose surface is often the limiting factor off road and not so many 30+ mph descents into a T junctions/lights etc.

I can back pedal all day if I want and it still doesn’t come off the 42t.

    Weird :?

You think disc brakes on road bikes need to be as good as mtb brakes?

    Better.

Using discs on my 700c commuter and use them much harder than I do on my MTB, tons of grip on tarmac, you can really explore a brakes power limits, not so off-road as the surface is usually the limiting factor.

Also, why sell to a country that you cannot provide service to?

Must be to wind you up, can’t be any other reason?

When in 2nd and 3rd gears, check,(best viewed from behind or with bike upside down) that the outer chain links aren’t rubbing on next lowest gear, i.e. when in second check the chain’s not rubbing on first etc.

Aluminium or carbon steerer? Is up to you, carbon is lighter but more expensive.

3K/UD refers to the finish, 3K has a carbon weave finish whilst UD has Raw/Plain finish, again personal choice.

Steerer looks like it will need to be 1 1/8, would keep fork length similar to your your current axle to crown measurement minus a few centimetres for sag.

mineral oil in a mineral oil system ‘should’ be fine.

Within very little distance the new pads were contaminated again.

Assuming you don’t have a leak….Could be the disks weren’t cleaned properly between changing pads ie washing up liquid hot water and wet and dry?

Shouldn’t be necessary normally but with contaminated pads.

Best way to decontaminate pads is by heating them, I place them on an electric hob, once they stop smoking they’re done, finish with (dry) wet n dry and re-bed them.

As above, they may just need bedding in, depending on where /how they’re rubbing.

Tried several times using various ghetto methods on a pair of old Mavic 719s and failed miserably, have reverted back to tubes.

However, I also run tubeless on a set of Stans Arches and have had no problems whatsoever, can only conclude it comes down to the rim dimensions/shape.

In terms of performance I don’t think there’s much between tubeless and tubed anyway , biggest advantage is puncture protection. IMO of course. :D

That’s not where your brake/gear lever would hit the frame?

    or where workstand would clamp?

Give it a tap, if it’s delaminated it will sound hollow/different to the surrounding area.

Well I don’t subscribe to the theory that should use all your travel up once or twice for any given trail, it’s ridiculous. How soft a setup would you need to bottom out your suspension at the average trail centre? Bike rides like mush because someone said it should bottom out.

Best setup is the one that gives you the most confidence.

can get the front gears changing smoothly in my garage or even on the flat off road

As soon as I start going uphill it won’t change between the smallest and largest ring at the front?

    Any ideas please people?

    Technique or more tension!

Would avoid changing from 22 chainring to the 36 when going uphill, if you must, put in a couple of powerful strokes prior to shifting and just ease the power back on, don’t try it under full load.

Can anybody demostrate the readings on Park tension meters are bollocks?

    dirtydog

    Well it’s not the spokes.

90+ kg rider on Arches built by myself using Dlights and no issues with spokes coming loose. Tension was also set using a Park meter.
