Always used manufacturers own, however if I where going to try some aftermarket Rockshox seals I’d probably try SKF.

SKFs oem low friction Fox seals were certainly an improvement over the original Fox seals.

    These

He’s talking Bollocks, difference will be inperceivable against the background of wind, tyre resistance.

WT is not about tyre width, its about the profile/tread layout on 35mm+ internally wide rims, a 2.4 is a 2.4, WT or not.

All new maxxis tyres are now pretty much bang on when it comes to sizing

Hi there – it was falling off the big chairing – to the outside

Can happen if the front mechs not mounted low enough, I always try to get it as low as possible so as it just clears outer ring.

Think it has two measurements 0.75 and 1.0 perhap’s? If the former then change just the chain – if the latter then maybe too late and need to change cassette and chain?

Only one way to find out, but yeah change at .75 and in theory you should get three chains to a cassette.

Didn’t they change the pistons on the revised version? I believe if they are white pistons they are the newer ones.

Don’t know the details Chunky. Ben (Bird MTB) mentioned it on another thread.

10 speed medium will work with 38/11-36, for 11-42 you’ll need to fit a lidarets goat link or one up rad cage.

Yeah just seals crank arm with BB, you’ll be fine without it, if your worried about it I reckon you could just fit a rubber o ring.

iirc there’s not much difference between the 26″ wheeled 17″and 18″ apart from the seat tube length, all other dimensions were virtually the same.

The new bikes are completely different in terms of reach length etc so you cant really compare a 26″ wheeled 17″/ 18″ , with the current bikes.

Think the 27.5 came out 2014.

New laptop has something like 60Gb used out of 128,

Windows 10 installation is nothing like 60Gb, will be full of OEM crap.

Edit Must read thread properly before commenting.

Bought a brand new Acer at Xmas, same thing, had been upgraded from 8.1 to 10. Only issue is you’ll no longer be able to roll back to 8.1, so no loss there then.

I lost my biking mojo about 18 months ago and have hardly turned a pedal which has meant I’ve lost my fitness and leg strength. I tried a comeback with a few mates but I thought I was holding them back and only did one ride feeling even more disillusioned and fed up with myself.

Strava twice weekly, work your way up the local segments, you’ll be smashing it by Spring.

orange 5 recently and I didn’t like it at all….Pedal bob was horrendous too

Surprised at that as the old models are very efficient providing your running a 32t, if that’s the case then it’s a design fault rather than an inherent issue with single pivots, no reason they can’t be designed to pedal as well/efficiently as anything else.

OP forget about the number of pivots and buy what you like.

I meant that it rubs either on the lowest gear (small front and large rear) or the highest gear (largest front and smallest rear). I can adjust the tension so that it does not rub on the lowest gear, but then the highest gear will rub a bit.

Well that clarifies things and it should work flawlessly in those gears.
It’s either a setup issue, or possibly, assuming it hasn’t always done this, worn mech pivots, crushed/bent cage.

Out of interest, has it always done it?

Edit no it hasn’t, it’s working again, so setup issue :D

what job on a mtb can a reasonably adept person not do apart from regas a shock?

    Setup a front mech? :D

if the LBS sends the specialist stuff like forks to the likes of Mojo … then cut out the middle man and send them there yourself.

Your assuming they know how to remove them, plenty don’t know how to adjust a headset correctly.

The vast majority of cyclists aren’t adept IME!

No, 10 speed rear mech wont work properly with 8 speed shifters, not just the pull ratio though is it? Would only take a small difference in mechs pivot locations to change ratio irrespective of amount of pull at lever.

Cable drag, kinked the inner when fitting?

Disconnect cable, manually push/release mech through gear range, is it still sticking now?

Yeah the rivets will hit the caliper mount\tab, can easily be sorted with a file in five minutes (they’re only soft alloy), however if they’re still under warranty..

As above, old Maxxis tyres were a bit off in their sizing, seem to have got their act together now.

@scardypants will be going docs, can’t ignore it. I’ve been using the same saddle/saddles for years and not had this before, dropped the nose before yesterday’s ride but didn’t really help, the damage has already been done.

Some funny comments though (as expected). :D

My advice would be to be to leave the SPDs at home, the section along Cowlyd gets quite technical, if you do wear them expect to be clipping in and out.

Did it anti-clockwise and can confirm the road climb out of Trefriw is a killer, iirc it’s something like 450m hight gain over 2km.

+1 for the lakeside cafe at Crafnant, must be one of the most scenic in the country, might still be open if the weathers nice.

It’s pretty remote so if your doing it on your own tell someone where you are going.

Dirty/worn, wrongly routed cables and or stiff mech pivots.

Much drag with cable routed but disconnected if not it has to be the mech?

Also check frames cable stops, the inner cables can sometimes rub on these were they exit.
