lots of black mucky fluid came up from the lever into the funnel. I put this down to seal degradation.

Get that on my 10 year old 525s, still work fine.

I always thought you did a small Bunny hop off the end?

That would be a hop off and its a common technique employed by riders who don’t know how to do a drop off. Through ignorance they refer to it as a drop off and the reason you need to be careful who you take advice from.

With a proper drop off your tyres never get higher than the lip your dropping off.

Check inner hasn’t frayed where it enters/rubs the rear mechs cable guide, inners have a habit of snapping here, especially when used in dirty conditions.

120kgf see first post, I’m guessing wheel will see peak tensions much greater when under load.

I use Motorex anti slip, it doesn’t contain abrasives so doesn’t scuff your bars, post etc, Merlin Cycles sell it.

Aye, thats what happens when you reattach the lowers whilst the stanchions are compressed. Can be fixed by undoing nuts, releasing the lowers and letting some air in , note they must be pumped up and at full extension when you do this.

postive or negative “hhmm”? Seems like a cheap upgrade, still going to wait for coil though

Neither really, just came across it, just another option, promises coil like performance :?

Yeah, just had a nose out of curiosity and its what Rick said, you don’t use Fox Gold or Float Fluid, Fox reccommend Slick Honey…

Read somewhere on the Fox site that gold should not be used as a replacement for float fluid.

Cassettes must be made out of cheese, makes no sense that an infrequently used 42 sprocket wears out before the 30/32/34 etc alloy chainring.

Edit: Scratch that, it does, especially if the B knuckle is screwed right in , the 42 sprocket will have only fraction of the chainwrap of the front ring.

    Volume spacer?

    http://www.ridefox.com/help.php?m=bike&id=568

The Fives suspension curve/leverage ratio is pretty much linear, as such they are completely reliant upon the shock to provide the bottom out resistance, the larger the volume spacer the more resistance to bottoming out. 90kg here and run a medium on my 2011 Five with RP23, they can be removed/fitted in minutes with removing the shock

    Corset air can

Would try a medium or large volume spacer, failing that a Vosprung air can might help.

    No facilities

Llanrwst’s a 5 minute ride from the main carpark, there’s a pub, betting office, bike shop, cafés, newsagent, butcher, baker, candlestick maker, not too mention a beautiful river to go and sit and chill by before/after a ride, what facilities do you require?

Current 32t will be fine, remove granny and outer ring, if you have one, replace outer with bash.

You’ll need either a goat link or oneup cage if you want to fit a 42.

For best results go 11 speed, cassette, shifter, chain and rear mech, chainset will be fine.

Max produced one of the best drives I’ve seen in over 10 years of watching Formula 1,I’ve not seen anything like that since early Schumacher, was no one else watching?

His CV is amazing and that was a masterclass in wet weather driving!

Often brought on early by poor chain wrap due to having the b adjust wound all the way in to clear non standard cassettes.

Changing at .75 I get 3 chains to a cassette, once on the third chain run the lot into the ground.

Yes its easy, use hot water and washing up liquid on the disks instead of brake cleaner, pads are best heated until they stop smoking snd then resurfaced with wet and dry.

Any advice on how to oven cook the discs without contaminating the oven ?

You don’t cook them, resurface\scour them using wet and dry and hot soapy water (washing up liquid), then bed them in again. Chemical cleaners are crap and don’t remove baked on dirt.

Bet there’s no mention of Sian Roberts

Wrong, both Tracey and Sian make an appearance, Sian at Cody and Tracey at Antur.

I’m pretty sure that it had Sian Roberts taking him round cwmcarn?

I’ve seen Tey are independent of the axle.

They are, tightening the cup and cone won’t remove the play from the freehub and the freehub isn’t serviceable, although spares are available(for about the price of a hub).

Wouldn’t worry about it unless it’s affecting shifting\engagement, think all of mine have, or have had small amounts of play in them, not something you notice when riding, you need to go looking for it.

Just unscrew the blue air cap counter clockwise.
