Might also be worth considering the new Shimano M6000 wide 10 speed 11 -42 cassettes and 11- 42 compatible mechs, due for release later this year, would allow you to use your existing shifters.

No more messing around with expanders and goat links etc

    Mind your own business!

It’s nothing to do with me or anyone else what he does, his personal life is his business. If it came out that he did, I wouldn’t change my opinion of him. He comes across as well grounded, no heirs and graces lad, best of luck to him whatever his preference.

    Goat link?

Plenty of people running 11 speed on 10 speed cassettes without issue, Google it.

Or wait until April a buy one of the new Deore 11 – 42 10speed mechs

    Important note

Remember when you re attatch the lowers to do it whilst the upper stanchions are fully extended and not compressed like in the MBR Youtube vid, the muppets are messing up what should be a simple job.

no one cares what football boots or studs are used in a game of football.

Seem to remember a debate over wether bladed studs were causing injury, some clubs banned them.

@Dangerourbrain Larger wheels require smaller rings, closer front ratios means shifting between 40,30 and 22 rings will require no rear recovery shifts which means easier to maintain cadence hence the rhythm step moniker.

Cassettes will weigh a ton, the big news is the release of the Deore 10 speed 11-42 compatible rear mech. Finally a solution to ‘stop gap fixes’ like Lindarets Goat Link and OneUp Radcages and the bad practice of fitting extra long b knuckle screws which are the cause of poor chain wrap and accelerated drivetrain wear.

Wonder how many would have bothered to upgrade to 11 speed if these had been available over the last 24 months or so, not daft Shimano.

Doesn’t take that long for manufacturing defects to show up.

Be surprised if it hasn’t already reached its wear limit, have you measured it?

What Bill said but with the addition of an 11 speed rear mech to cope with the extended range, else fit goat link/radcage.

Wouldn’t bother with finned pads unless they’re Shimano.

Superstar and Uber use a separate heatsink, which, as anyone who knows about computers, is useless without thermal compound to transfer the heat, there’s a good chance they’re just a gimmick imo.

    Hope else Shimano.

Tyre spinning on rim for some reason, would clean tyre/rim bead and check rim tape is centrally located in rim and not in bead.

Would also talc inside of tyre to prevent tube sticking.

know I shouldn’t have lost my rag, but I wouldn’t expect a new brake to go so wrong within six months.

Well if you take a spanner to a ceramic piston contrary to what the instructions advise, shit happens :?

    Just buy a new caliper.

Im with drover, just buy an 11 speed. Im sure you could get it to work but usually not to the standard you might be expecting. I’m basing this on my experience of mix matching 8/9 and 10 speed front mechs, none of them work to the standard the correctly corresponding one does.

I like the way the shift onto the granny alters how my suspension works on climbs..

Anti squat, usually the first thing that gets thrown out the window when people switch to 1x or even 2x, they give it no consideration at all, its one of the reasons I’ll be sticking with 2x.

Anything with a hydrostatic head of over 1000mm is classed as waterproof. Im guessing the action/pressure of walking or gripping the bars exceeds the hydrostatic head, whatever that may be, I dont think sealskins publish it.

Another possibility is the taping has failed.

@devash Looking at the photo Mark posted I think your right, those 615s I pictured look like they have a spacer in them so assumed yours would have them as well.

Dont know whats going on with the XTs but the lack of spacer on the deores means the bars arent going to sit in the clamp the way they should do, ime you’ll always get some marking on carbon bars no matter what.

    As above, missing spacer

Update: I scrubbed the rotors with cream cleaner, rinsed with boiling water, then put them in a hot oven for 20 minutes. Worked a treat – plenty of power and no squealing.

Wet and dry and soapy water has never failed unlike chemical cleaners which seldom work. Was it was an abrasive cream cleaner?

Could be down to inconsistent greasing in the factory, opened up a Shimano BB were one cup was greased the other virtually dry, it had not been near any water.

If only it was easier to get top hats out without breaking them.

the only thing that kept you going was a smart-arse comment or otherwise letting off steam to a colleague about the asterisking asterisker you’d just got rid of.

and no different to how the Police talk about criminals or teachers in the staff room talk about your kids.

Nothing been gained here, be interested to know what satisfaction the OP got out of it?

speaking to a customer like that

    He wasn’t

, I wouldn’t expect to get away with saying that to the face of ANYONE in the workplace.

I’m betting the call handler wouldn’t either, OP overheard an off the cuff remark he wasn’t meant to.

If it had of been aimed at the customer then I’d of been in full agreement

And yes, have worked in a call centre, the naïve would be shocked at the things said about you when you put the phone down, good job the OP can’t here peoples thoughts.

As above, he’ll probably get sacked, OP will continue on in life like nothings happened.

    He hasn’t been sacked

Apologies, was badly worded, should have read “OP believes if he gets sacked it will be his own fault”

    Not that it changes anything.

Of course it wouldn’t have gone any further if he hadn’t reported it, that’s surely the point of reporting it!!

I definitely think the op’s right reporting it, guy needs a bollocking.

because OP edited my post to read

I’m sure you’ll feel much better once he got himself sacked.

OP believes he got himself sacked.
