if you ride round a corner on a nearly billiard ball table smooth trail, you really shouldn’t be riding a mountain bike.

I suspect in Shanaze’ case nerves overcame her – she was visibly quivering ontge start line.

    This^.

She was shaking uncontrollably, I felt sorry for her. I can’t begin to imagine the pressure she must have been feeling at the start gate.

Never experienced the Minion shuffle either, put a super tacky on the front you can pretty much ignore the fact it’s wet.

My Pitch has a “lifetime” warranty on the main frame and 5 years on the rear triangle.
Length of warranty != indicator of quality. A boggo Kia comes with a 7 year warranty.

    +1 what rickmeister said

“Lifetime” useually means 5 years, surely you don’t think that you will be entitiled to a replacement for the rest of your life!

Nowhere within 30 miles of Blaenau if you value your valuables….unless you are looking to score crack.

    Care to expand on that?

No shorter hoses wont. If they need doing for asthetics thats another matter!

If there is plenty of pressure at the lever bleeding wont help either.

Have you taken the bike for a ride? They should settle in all on there own.

I inflated them to 125 psi first off and then aimed to see what would work with trial and error. It most definitely isn’t 50psi though, unless you want very low handlebars and about 1″ of travel.

Sounds like something is wrong I’m 14 stone (200lb) and running 65psi in my 36s.

Fox recommend 90 psi for a 250lb rider, so unless you are 300lb+?

    Yep, go up a size!

34″ waist here, usually take a medium but even the large are a snug fit.

Cheers DD that looks about right

    No worries.

I bought mine from them last year and received everything within a few days, I’d be happy to use them again.

Just don’t expect a box , it’s OEM, everything comes bagged.

the hemlock is designed for a 50mm chain line but the new xt is 48mm i think?

But they’re measured differently, 3 ring setup from middle of seatube to middle ring and 2 ring setup from middle of seatube to middle of two rings.

    2 ring should be fine!

No, you can’t put another spacer on.

My local shop said it wasn’t safe

I thought that but the store said it’s not a good idea.

So welding’s not strong/reliable enough, how do they think the rest of the bikes held together?

With proper pedals, they just don’t.

But they do, it’s one of the reasons SPDs are still used in DH.

    @Kane

Bearings where changed for Enduro and it made no difference.

A friend has the same issue with Specialised Rovals on a 2011 160 Talas.

To be honest I’ve pretty much given up on finding a solution to the problem.

    @Yoshimi

I just fail to understand why there should be a need to push/squeeze the lowers together before doing up the QR and clamping everything down, you would have thought the axle would have done this!

It would be nice to to get to the bottom of this! I’m hoping someone from Loco, Mojo or TF comes along to explain.

The problem is that tightening the axle doesn’t get rid of the play in the right hand lower, the axle simply tightens the hub against the left hand lower, it doesn’t pull the right hand leg in!

I don’t know whether it’s a design feature that I fail to understand or a fault (seems unlikely) but I have not been able to get to the bottom of it, IMO it has nothing to do with bearings or hubs.

I’ve seen this on two bikes, mine which runs an 2009 36 Talas with Hope hubs and a friends who runs 2011 Talas 36 on Specialised Rovals.

When you tighten the axle does it pull the right hand stanchion in towards the hub or does it just ‘float’?

Mine float, effectively all the axle is doing is clamping the hub to the left hand leg.

I get around this by tightening the axle and then squeezing the lowers together whilst at the same time doing the clamps up.

Had the same issue when bleeding a friends XTs.

I vaguely remember reading somewhere that it is normal for some oil to escape from around the topcap after bleeding, I just can’t remember where I read it.

If you just want to clean the foam rings and seals then you can do it without removing the lowers.

Latest advice is to soak the foam rings in 10wt oil!

    here

SKF seals are worth fitting if you don’t already have them!

Including yours if you misunderstood the OP…

    Eh?.

    OP states…..

How much of the (? 7 wt) oil do i put in the fork legs after i’ve put them back on?

So question understood and answered correctly!

Which bit did I get wrong?

    dirtydog

    Some bad advice given!

In most cases Fox now recommend 10wt oil for both foam rings and lowers.

Yes you will need to put oil in both legs, but it’s a damm sight more than 5ml!

My point is it should have come back assembled.

I could bleed it myself, but would need to buy fluid = more money!

+ it gets worse, went to fit it to the bike – it is missing the banjo bolt and a banjo o ring!

    Frigging nightmare!

Lesson learned – buy from lbs in future!

This latest spend has nothing to do with making cash available to small business and is all to do with making sure the banks have enough capital to get through this weekends potentially impending disaster, Greece!

I’d like to see the creation of a national bank whereby profits are returned back to the investors/savers and not into the pockets of it’s shareholders, it would certainly give the private banks something to think about.

Would it be that hard to do?
