have some food at Pete’s Eats. Not a proper trip to North Wales without Pete’s Eats.

I really don’t get the attraction with Petes Eats, the food’s average at best.

Nice one Orange. A design you’ve sold for years. Right upto this year? ‘Only a few left for warranty’?

So if your frame’s rear arm breaks in two years thats £1499…

If this turns out to be true then my current bike (Orange Five 2011) will be my first and last!

They need to look at Litevilles warranty policy, I have and I like what I see.

It’s a bit of float fluid, there’s 5ml on top of the air piston.

It wouldn’t hurt to clean it out and renew the fluid.

No bleed kit – do you need it?

No, hose is easily shortened without.

I use that section quite a lot will keep my eyes peeled, sadly it doesn’t come as a surprise.

Where exactly did it happen, was it between Belle Vale and Gateacre Village, Belle Vale and Childwall Valley or Gateacre Village and Halewood?

P.S Nothing embarrasing about it, it could have happened to anyone, not much you can do if you weren’t expecting it.

Is that likely to be the case? Obviously the exact ring sizes will make a difference, but I’d imagine most 2x mechs are made to be big enough to cope with a bash that is a few teeth larger than the outer 2x ring

Not necessarily it would also depend on the size of bash.

I’m currently running a 10 speed triple XT with 24-36 rings and Gamut (36t)bash. After trying a 10 speed triple XT and a 9 speed double specific SLX I settled on a Shimano FD-M785-10 (double specific) and it works fine, it sits just off the bash.

Based on value vs performance I would say SLX cranks are better than XT and Deore better than SLX.

Cheaper at Chain Reaction, Wiggle was the first link I found

You need to fit the SLX double specific front deraileur, it has a 14t range to cope with change from 22 to 36 rings

    http://www.wiggle.co.uk/shimano-slx-m665-front-derailleur-for-double-chainset/

I’m currently running a 10 speed XT 24-36 with bash on my five,be aware that clearance between the chain and main pivot is tight when shifting from one ring to the other although it’s not tight enough to cause any issues.

The worst that could happen is you have to fit a 34t outer so as to clear the pivot but I think that would be unlikely, just fit the double specific SLX mech and you’ll be fine

If anyone does break a button my advice would be to stop using it straight away[/u], the metal push rod can score the bore.

I had to buy a complete remote because I carried on using mine.

    Can’t be done!

The float conversion kit was £54.00 last time I looked.

Holy s**t just checked, I paid 54.00 for my pre 2011 kit a few weeks ago, pretty sure the 2011-2012 kit was the same price.

New stock, new price I guess.

We usually stay at Llyn Gwynant campsite, if you fancy a long walk the Watkin Path starts at the end of the lake. They’re ok with fires and canoe hire is available.

Perfect walking base for Snowdon – camp by the lake or river under the mountain

Hopefully we’ll be there this weekend :D

If you want to get away from the crowds then try the Llyn Cowlyd loop.

    I’m sharing my experience.

I think “it was the flex that caused the crack not the impact” maybe set people off a bit?

    Agreed!

Believe it or not guys I do understand there’s a balance to be struck between flex and stiffness otherwise they would just shatter upon impact, I shouldn’t have mentioned flex as it confuses things and adds nothing.

So flex/stifness aside……. IMO The chinguard is not strong enough and I wouldn’t have another.

    Hope this clarifies things.

I don’t understand why people are critisising the chin guard because it cracked. Surely that’s better than it being your face? It sounds like it was just doing its job to me

    I’m sharing my experience.

IMO It was a light impact, any harder and it would have been my face.

If you want to believe that an Archi Enduro will protect your face in the event of an off then your welcome to do so.

    Sorry I mentioned it :?

I had an Archi Enduro and cracked the chinguard in a crash.
I wouldn’t rely on one again, the chinguard is too flexy/weak and offers very little protection. I have no doubt a proper full face would have easily stood up to the impact.

Ooh, interesting! Out of curiosity, do you reckon it still did its job in the crash or did it just fail outright without helping? I guess the other question is, if you’d hit another helmet as hard, would you keep wearing it or would you replace anyway

I’m not sure it really helped, the chinguard cracked where it had flexed and touched my chin, it was the flex that caused the crack not the impact.

If it hadn’t flexed to the point it touched my chin it wouldn’t have cracked!

I replaced it with a Giro Remedy and the chinguard is night and day.

I can see how the straps could scratch the lowers but not the stanchions.

I’ve had no issues with mine, in fact IMO it does a better job of keeping the crap away from the stanchions/seals than it does keeping crap out your face.

If you harbour any wacky delusions about crazy concepts like wanting music in a folder structure of your own choosing, or treating music as files and copying them between devices, then you spend half your life battling with the bloody thing.

    This^

Point it at a folder structure and it looses the plot. To make matters worse you can’t access the CDDB database unless you register and provide bank details first, something I’m not prepared to do.

I’ll stick with Windows Media Player and my trusty Sony thanks.

I have a bit of an issue with the “not really Fox’s fault” argument. If Ford produced a mass market car that had problems unless it was serviced every 2000 miles, it simply wouldn’t sell. It would be Ford’s fault for producing cars not fit for purpose. Are Fox forks really that much better than everyone else’s that they justify shorter service intervals?

    POSTED 40 SECONDS AGO #

Standard service intervals are 6000 miles or 6 months whatever comes first.

You risk damaging your engine if you don’t follow them, no difference.

It’s a common problem with Hope floating rotors and Fox 36 forks although I don’t have the issue with mine (V2s and 2009 36 RC2 Float).

Change the rotors or file the mount.

mmmm simplest way would be to install DD-WRT

You have to telnet it, once it’s routed you can update the firmware as normal, you will then have access to the full config settings.

Did mine a few weeks back

It’s not as complicated as it sounds.

    Cheers fellas.

@roverpig I don’t think you’ll be the only one, I can see a lot of orders come March/April. Anyone contemplating the Gyro will probably put their purchase on hold until they can get a demo of the Five29.

Wonder when the Five will be given the same 142mm rear and the 1.5 headtube.
