(My 10mm sockets are too shallow)

    …a deep socket? :?

I’d personally be very wary of putting very high tension into a brass nipple going into an un-eyeleted aluminium rim.

What spoke tension do you recommend for Flow/Arch EX rims?

    @citizeninsane

I can see how that could cause a problem as high PSI will relieve some of the spoke tension possibly leaving them a bit soft.

    Possibly,

In some cases the caliper can foul on the rotor rivets, however it’s easily fixed with a file, its a quick and easy job but whether you want to do this to a brand new set of calipers is another matter.

I’ve had to file both my old Deore 525 and XT 770 calipers, its a common issue with Hope floating rotors.

Edit. If they’re not floating they’ll be fine.

If you do the Marin or Penmachno you can hire bikes from Beics Betwys in Betwys y Coed , One planet Adventure run a hire scheme at Llandegla, not sure if Coed y Brenin does bike hire although I imagine they do.

    P.S.
There are no ‘on site’ facilities at Penmachno or The Marin although Betwys is just down the road.

I know, its a bit of a sweeping statement but I am getting a bit bored of them, I’m in need of something with a bit of adventure at the moment.

Any, they’re pretty much all the same (Sorrellised) with the possible exception of Penmachno, however if its jumps you want head to Llandegla.

I fitted a Gamut three years ago and have not dropped a chain since, which, judging by reports, is more than can be said for thick thin rings and dodgy clutch mechs.

As above get a Stinger, Gamut are a bit overpriced imo.

It sounds like what hob nob described, have you had the freehub off at any point?

I’d be trying the sram cassette on its own again, if only to rule out any issues with the freehub itself.

Did you use new crush washers and torque them correctly?

2.5 DHF EXO measure 61mm at their widest point mounted to Arch Ex with 30psi.

Think the new 2.3 are around 58mm but can’t confirm it.

The following is a statement from Royal Mail workers at the Skelmersdale Post Office Depot….

“Next Thursday and Friday the Sun plan to send through Royal Mail 22,000,000 copies of a World Cup issue of the Sun.
Liverpool, Warrington, and some CH postcodes are exempt from this. However, as it stands the staff at Skelmersdale are being told we will have to deliver them.
With the backing of the CWU, this morning we informed them that if any copies of the Sun cross the gates, we will walk out
We have been urging people to voice their concerns about this by ringing customer services. Any support would be gratefully appreciated, let’s stop 60,000 copies of that shite from coming out.“

The customer services number is 03457740740

Please share this number far and wide, give it a call, show solidarity with the posties, and let the bosses know you don’t want the Sun pushing through your door!

    So that’s 03457740740

Got a pair of their ‘leather palmed’ gloves and a pair of bones knee/shinpads, the gloves I picked up for half price, the bones I paid full price for.

Wouldn’t pay full price for the gloves but the bones kneepads have been worth it imo, they may look a bit ott for trail use but they’re much cooler/comfy than you would imagine.

Unfortunately you can’t just add spacers to the BB as you won’t be able to get the non driveside crankarm on.

Sorry mate, don’t see any way round it as you can’t space the small ring out, the middle ring on a triple sits further outboard so works fine in most cases.

Hang on…. you’ve got a double slx chainset and you have fitted a 30t ring in place of the granny ring?

If so thats your problem, you should have used a triple, replaced the outer with a bash, removed the granny and replaced the middle ring with one of your choice.

Don’t see how you can space it out, you cant do it with BB spacers thats not what they’re for.

2×10 works fine on an Orange five despite what Orange say. I’m running a 24-36 (XT triple chainset) on mine, the chain does come close to the pivot when shifting but it all depends on what rings cranks you run, it can be a bit of a minefield which is probably why why Orange don’t recommend them.

There’s probably more off road riding (proper mountains) available within 1.5 hours drive of Cheshire than there is in the whole of the south of England

Not seen em in the shops yet, what about a 2.5 3c exo, if the weights are anything to go by then they should size up similar to the new 2.3?

FYI 2.5 EXO on a 21mm rim measures 61mm at its widest point.

I’m looking at going the other way.

I originally ran Fox 36 160mm Talas on my 2011 five but have since converted them to floats and set the travel to 150mm, I still find the steering a touch slow for tight stuff.

Unless the majority of your riding is gravity fed on wide open fast trails then I think you would be best sticking with what you’ve got. You could end up with something that rides really well on 10% of trails and not so good on the other 90%.

The head/seatube angle with 160 forks is more than slack enough IME, I wouldn’t bother with offset bushings.

Yet another retailer given praise for doing what they said they would.

    I don’t get this, why?

    Are expectations that low?

Yet again, I will say Connex splittable links FTW. By far the easiest to use, I don’t know why anyone uses SRAM.

They’re rubbish if you use a chainguide, they can come undone as they go around the roller, inherent weakness of the design, OK for everything else though.

My brother bought the last 26″ 18.5″ AM/CCDB off CRC yesterday, just working out what spring he’ll need.

Got a Five myself but will be looking foward to a test ride on it, can’t go wrong for price.

    Thanks again.
