when I ran a double I avoided these extremes, like I would running a triple.

Same here, you probably should be able to use all (never thought about it as it’s never been a requirement), the question I’d be asking myself is, is it good practice given the chainline, I’d say probably not?

Makes sense as front wheels generally don’t have to be as strong as the rear. Wheelbuilders will often use different spokes laterally and different spoke counts front and rear in order to save weight so see no reason why the logic shouldn’t extend to different rims front and rear.

Sennheiser HD 201s, bought as a christmas present, not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but much better than there £20.00 asking price would suggest.

Lol.. yeah.. if you have a good tubeless ready tyre, the right rim and a good rimstrip. But then, so does any other track pump.

Up to now have tried Speed Kings, Nobby Nics, Minions and Ardents, all non tubeless (on stans rims) and inflate with a couple of strokes.

Ive also got a high pressure Bontrager pump (Charger) and whilst it does inflate all the above it does takes about twice as many strokes as it doesn’t have the volume of the Joe Blow, only ever use the Mountain now.

Not sure any track pump would work, perhaps they would, if they did then there shirley there wouldn’t be a market for the Flash and Mountain?

    ’45 pumps’

Not sure if I could manage that
    Posted 2 hours ago #

Takes 3-4 strokes with a Joe Blow Mountain to seat a tyre and around another 20 or so to bring it up to pressure.

    @danjthomas

For what it’s worth I don’t think it’s a problem with the port, I think it’s just that you reattatched the lowers whilst the forks where compressed.

I’ve not seen that video but if that’s how they’re telling you to do then its wrong, all air forks, to the best of my knowledge, should be reassembled with forks fully extended otherwise you will cause a vacuum in the lowers when they are extended, glad it’s sorted anyway.

Ok if its easier…with fork fully assembled, fully inflate, then whilst fork is fully extended push a cable tie down side of dust/oil seal, repeat for each leg, if that doesn’t work then its a warranty job.

Haven’t read instructions but have successfully serviced a few Rockshox forks amongst others.

Should be done with Forks fully inflated, don’t release any air out of the air spring.

    dirtydog

Thats your problen then, yes undo bolts and allow air into lower legs (you might have to give them a tap to release them and allow air in) then with stanchions fully extended tighten up lowers.

    Job done!

Ps you can do the same by pushing a cable tie down the dust/oil seals this releases the oil seal enough to allow air in, probably best not to make a habbit of it though as it may, although unlikely, damage the seals.

When you reassembled after the lower leg service did you do it with the upper stantions fully extended or only partly extended if it where the latter then you may have created a vacuum in the lowers when you reinflated them?

With forks fully extended push a cable tie down the side of the dust/oil seal this will allow the pressure in the lowers to equalise.

If the above doesn’t work then its a warrany issue.

Minion 2.35 is narrower than the 2.3 HH, do I get a prize?

Should have bought a Minion 2.3, that 2.35 you bought is the old undersize size, suspect it will be discontinued soon.

    For future reference look here

    http://www.reifenbreiten-datenbank.de/

As above send it back and get a 2.3 EXO.

Would stick a Maxxis Minion 2.3 Exo on the front, if they do em in 29″.

Would go with Fox low friction, small bump sensitivity is improved over their standard ones, breakaway force is considerably reduced.

Check out UEPAAA, users can be located without the need for phone signal.

‘With the Uepaa! “Grüezi” principle, your location is shared automatically with other users in range so your position is relayed to us even from places where there’s no mobile network at all!’

Does no one remember that a £15 square taper shimano BB used to last circa 10 years

I would routinely destroy sq taper BB’s in weeks.
    Posted 30 minutes ago # Report-Post

Lifespan of a couple of weeks is not typical of quality square taper BBs though, either you where fitting crap BBs or riding in extremely harsh conditions. How long do external bearings last, couple of days?

Sounds like they could be contaminated with release agent, the release agent stops them sticking to the mould, usually silicone lube, try washing them in soap and water.

I run Ashima airotors on one of my bikes and whilst it causes a pulse in the lever it doesn’t cause the forks to visibly judder.

so mojo replaced a perfectly good set of uppers?

Why not, done under warranty Fox pick up the tab, it’s not like anyones going to argue about it?

From your description it sounds like they are less progressive than previous models else there’d be no need to add two spacers?

    What Phil said,

I’m also running a double specific front mech on my Five, it’s an XT FD-M785-10 and is paired with XT SL785 shifters in 2x mode, I have no issues with tyre clearance even when running a Minion 2.5.

I suspect the pull ratios are slightly different on 10 speed double specific front mechs as I couldn’t get the shifting right with a triple in 2X mode.

    P.s also running a 36t bash.

    Cheers fellas.

I am actually familiar with the Hellvelyn ridge line I’ve rode it a couple of times from Glenridding up onto Matterdale Common then the Dodds etc and down Dollwagon. What sticks in my mind where the 10 foot wide cornices that, had it not been spring, would have been completely hidden from view by lying snow. It was very easy to picture how someone could unknowingly walk/ride out onto one in an attempt to get a better view of Red Tarn. Reading some of the posts it does appears that some take a Devil may care approach, as previously mentioned 3/4 shorts and a thermal layer arent going to cut it if you become immobile and are stuck up there for several hours, take care all and stay well away from the ‘edges’.

I’d be interested to know how you go about finding your current location in poor visibility ie heavy cloud moves in, you have no reference points to go off, you dont have GPS and only an OS map and compass.

Genuine question by the way, I asked my mate who is an ex sniper (british army) and trained in jungle warfare, his response was it’s very difficult. I took that to mean you can’t, your forced to sit tight until you can take a bearing?

    What would you do?

Ta, the difference between 26 and 27.5 is 25 mm, not 1.5 inches.

    Rubbish.

Set mine up based on how it feels not how much travel it uses, if it feels right it is right irresective of how much travel is being used.

SLX cranks have steel pedal inserts so in theory should be a touch tougher, pretty sure SLX come with a steel granny ring whilst XT comes fitted with an alloy granny…think that’s about it.

FYI. Acycles where selling 26″ 3c EXO DHRlls for a very reasonable £26.00.

Is there a code that works on this? Showing £28.50 for me..still a bargain

Not that I know of, they may well have been £28.50, probably memory failure on my part, still a good price though.
