When the axle is tight I can actually push the fork leg inwards towards the hub adaptor, and I reckon I get about 2-3mm of movement. Even with the QRs tight I can still push the fork leg inwards towards the hub adaptor.

Mine do it, 2008 36s as does a friends (brand new at the time)2013s, was convinced there was a fault until I compared them to the 2013s, I’m satisfied it’s perfectly normal, axle tightens hub onto left hand lower, right hand lower floats in free space until QRs are tightened.

Why would you choose a Spoon over a Flux for an MTB, same saddle but with reinforced side panels and possibly a bit more padding?

Chromo Spoon is less forgiving than my Ti Bel Air, Spoon is stiff in comparison.

    Internal routing?

Check cables are entering frame and exiting on the correct side and are not crossing over (rubbing together) mid downtube.

5 years old but no bits available to rebuild it

    Same as Fox then!

Am I missing something, how hard is it to just start and stop it at the end of your street? :?

Shit paint job on full builds(very thin, easily chipped), however frame only option is powder coated here, might be something to bear in mind.

    Depends what you are after

Completely agree, the 26.8 is on my mountain bike and the 31.6 is on my hybrid, both seem well suited to their intended use, flexy 26.8 and lightly dampened (very subtle) 31.6.

If it’s just repairs then there’s no need to go to the expense of a website, you can generate plenty of custom through Facebook (create a business page), it’s also a good way of keeping in touch with local groups.

    It’s very very subtle.

My layback 26.8 EC70 isn’t, plenty of visible flex and plenty of exposed post. Also have a EC70 31.6 inline with no visible flex (very very subtle).

Depends on post design (layback/inline), amount of exposed post and post diameter.

One of your biggest issues will be getting dealer(b2b) accounts, the likes of Maddison, Hope etc aren’t interested unless your a bricks and mortar shop.

I’d be inclined to start mobile and build up your business before committing to premises.

I used the chart on the user manual, I’m 168lbs.so just 1.5bar required if I let most of that small amount out will it kill the forks, when using them?

No, will be fine. Pre load only affects the initial stroke and will have no influence on how much travel you go through.

Not enough air in forks, more low speed compression?

    As above, under what circumstances?

You need an air service kit, air is leaking into the lowers.

If don’t have the skills to set up a front mech correctly then chances are your not going to be able to set up a 1X either.

Just don’t blame the front mech! :D

Wonder what happened to SMICA (Post Moderne? )?

They did a few budget, lightweight posts and stems, seemed to have disappeared off scene.

Anyone got a link for those Kalloy UNO stems, can’t find much?

Thomson aren’t light, posts are OK, stems are heavy.

KCNC do some light posts and stems, not sure how tough they are though, and styling leaves a bit to be desired.

Don’t see a problem, rider on the left looks over his shoulder before joining main road, no one had to suddenly change direction/adjust their speed?

Another option would be to fit chain ring spacers and move both rings in 2-3 mmm.

Double specific chainset moves the chainline out so there will be more crossover when in the outer and 36 than there is on a triple converted to double.

A cheaper option would be to get her to change down to the granny, I generally avoid using the last 2-3 gears when in the outer ring (converted triple) so as to avoid excessive crossover, but yeah a triple would help by moving the chainline inward

Did you end up fitting the double specific 11 speed Shimano mech?

See no reason you couldn’t fit CX tyres to the original rims, I’ve not measured them but I’m guessing they’re around 17mm internal.

Not had mine for long so not had a chance to experiment, but thinking 27.5″/29″ might work well off road, appears to be plenty of clearance around fork.

If you can get adaptors for your hub (Hope?) then you could try a 9mm QR thru axle without having to upgrade your forks.

Don’t know, but that would certainly narrow it down to lever or caliper sofaboy, 2 year warranty you know?

I seem to be a little unusual among fellow riders, in that I like a slippier cornering rear tyre than front.

Same here…I want the front to stick, but in certain circumstances, be able to get the back to break away. I’ve found I can’t do that with aggressively treaded tyres without losing too much speed.

Minion DHF EXO Minion DHR 2 EXO.

Mud has never been a consideration when choosing tyres for North Wales as its mainly bedrock.

£72.00 or, if you have the skills, £20 on helitape, 2-3 days with a craft knife making paper templates, cutting tape and then applying to frame.

T-Cut/Auotoglym or similar cutting compound, if they’re really bad 1200 wet and dry and soapy water then cutting compound.

For MTB the Flux makes better sense than the Spoon (Kevlar reinforced corners) however I prefer the original Bel Air over both of the above, would like to try the Bel Air 2.0.
