Well I’ve got to say that Smudge seems to have one very happy customer base. Can’t really get a better recommendation than that. Will look the lights up tonight. Cheers guys and girls.

Yep, I’m running them front and back in the Surrey Hills and I’d say they were perfect for the job. Quite fast, don’t get clogged up and pretty grippy. Not too expensive either which is always a bonus.

If you’re going to use pedals with lots of pins, which are generally the norm then specific biking shoes are going to be a bit more hard wearing than skate shoes. The Fivetens have a stealth rubber sole which is solid and thick enough, but is also really soft and grippy if that makes sense? They really are the closest thing to being clipped in. Some people like the fact you can’t move your feet around on the pedals without lifting them bacause they’re so grippy, others find this doesn’t suit them.

Fiveten’s are amazing. Haven’t personally noticed them soaking up any more water than any other shoe, and they’re so comfortable. The Danny Mcaskill ones look pretty nice.

Raleigh Burner. Every kid I knew, wanted one.

I take size tens in normal shoes, and have two different pairs of Fivetens both in size ten. Seem to fit perfectly .

Whichever way you do it, you’ll love it. Fantastic trail centre for a first time run. Enjoy.

+1 for Middleburn chainrings. Definitely worth a go.

I really like it, though how you managed to crash into that tree 3ft up is beyond me. Are you dangling from one of the branches?

Had this many times with Superstar brake pads. Now buy from Disco Brakes. Not had a problem since.

I’ve been using the latest ones for a few months now and I really couldn’t see why you’d need to spend any more on disc brakes. They’re fantastic. Highly recommended.

If David Hasselhoff ever gets the biking bug, then I think you may have found exactly what he’d be looking for!

Subaru Impreza WRX Sportwagon. Loads of room. Quite quick, and if you shop around, not too bad on insurance. £5k should get you a decent one.

Rachel Stevens or Emma Crosby from Five News. Not sure how they’d be with bike maintenance though?

I had to move to flats after a dodgy knee left me needing to move my feet around. I love them. As mentioned above, Wellgo MG1’s and five ten’s. Maybe borrow a mates and see how they feel to you before buying some. Don’t just go out in trainers and flat pedals though as the fiveten shoes are a mile away in terms of sole stickyness.

As far as I know the car park’s being extended and they’re building a new XC route and a new downhill track.

Definitely get some fivetens on your feet. They stick to the pedals like glue and will give you so much more confidence.

Not a huge fan of fives, but that is definitely the nicest one I’ve ever seen. Congrats.

Just get the Diablo. It’s brilliant. Then burn the receipt.

I think it’s good. Planning an Alps trip next year and have a Contour HD 1080p which arrived today. Colour doesn’t look as good as the Go Pro but it looks a lot steadier than I thought it would, mounted to the bars on the hardtail. Good work.

    Now that is genius!

I’ve got the pocket rocket. Packs up tiny and is totally waterproof. Really lightweight but keeps you warm too. Great little jacket.

If they work properly then that’s good enough for me. Is it the vented helmet mount you bought, or something else for the bars? Not really sure what comes with the camera so I don’t know where it’s best to mount it for the steadiest shot? I think the GO PRO mount of choice seems to be the chest harness but they don’t seem to sell one for the contour.

I paid £125 (well, the Mrs did) Going to have to wait for my birthday to try it out. Might get some awesome HD footage of me having a hernia blowing out 41 candles !!

Monogramman-If you work for Amazon then well done. You’ve just made me buy one after a whole ten seconds thinking about it…..Damn you!

Old blokes who’re so damn fit, you spend 75% of your ride 20 yards behind them trying not to cough up a lung catching them up. You know who you are!

Damn. Always have had a problem with my end.
I’ll try again and if that doesn’t work I’m switching to Virgin fibre optic broadband. By the way, anyone know if Virgin broadband is any good?

Just buy one of the cheap (£30ish) bike tool kits from Merlin etc and have a go. It’s good fun and gives you a sense of “I did that” when it’s finished. I made a DIY headset press with a really long bolt and a couple of square flat metal plates which works a treat. You can find instructions for making one on line. Enjoy and post pics when it’s done.

Pitches are great bikes. Lots of fun on the downs, and if he’s fit as a fiddle, I’m sure he won’t struggle too much on the ups either.

With that white seat and stem it looks like the biking equivalent of a pimped up Citroen Saxo.

I’m liking this. Loads of stuff to check out that I’ve never heard. I’ve decided to listen to every band that anyone posts here however long it takes! Even if their name (Chimp Spanner) seems made up. That is a great name though.

You’ll realise the up-side when you watch someone stack and not be able to release themselves quick enough from their clip-ins. When I’m doing a somersault I’d rather not be taking my bike with me.

Probably couldn’t afford a Harrods BJ. Do they do them in Poundland?

+1 for Merlin. Not had a problem with Wiggle but every now and then Merlin do some killer deals on stuff. Especially like their VIP Club. Costs you nothing to sign up and saves you 10 percent. Can’t be bad.

I love mine. I have a pair of the Sam Hill five tens and have worn them all through the winter with no probs. Don’t get too hot in the summer either. They also have a pair of removable inners so you can wash them/dry them seperately. The stealth rubber soles are so grippy. Cost quite a lot but in my humble opinion are worth every penny.

Be sure to check out ‘How To Destroy Angels’ another of his side projects on You Tube. The video for ‘The Space Inbetween’ is ace.

They say life begins at 40. I’m 40 and I can only presume they mean life begins to ache more and take longer to recover. Wish I was 30 again! Happy birthday whipper snapper.

I love riding Holmbury and Leith on my 575. It doesn’t weigh a lot and can still take a beating. To aid climbing though, I’d probably stick a pair of Talas forks on it so you can drop it down a bit for the ups. If I had to choose non Yeti it’d probably be the Zesty, though having never tried one, that’s simply based on the fact they look damn nice.
