BAGA 4 AND!!! 3 gymnastics badges in first school. What a proud moment for my parents. God…..I think that’s probably it really, and I’m in my 40’s now. 😕

Wellgo MG1’s and Fiveten impacts. I’ve got the Sam Hill ones which are really comfortable and have removable soles so you can wash them. Saw them reduced from£90 to £65 somewhere the other day too.

I just use Superstar pads in mine and so far they’ve been really good. Dirt cheap too. Not finned, but I’m not really going to cook my brakes in the Surrey Hills.

This is going to drive me nuts. So far it’s none of the You Tube clips that have been posted (thanks everyone), and I now realise that it’s going to take over my life till I find it. I think it’s an album track rather than a single, and I’ve now got to go through their entire back catalogue until I discover what it is. Will trawl through DezB’s list first and when I’ve found it I’ll post the result (if anyone still cares by then). Big prize for the winner of a massive pat on the back.

That’s pretty damned cute! Would have voted for it anyway, even without the gentle nudge. Hope she wins.

I get bad pain in both my knees, due possibly, to me riding for a couple of years with my cleats in slightly the wrong position. I’ve had countless appointments with knee specialists which has lead to physio, accupuncture, strapping it up, MRI scans and all sorts of other trial remedies. All to no avail. In the end, the knee specialist told me to never kneel down. Usefull. Make sure you do take action if it doesn’t get any better as you’re still far too young to be suffering this sort thing. I can only ride with flats now as this means I can constantly move my feet around to try and ease the pain a bit.

Trent does do a great line in atmospheric film music. Check out the genius use of the NIN track “Closer”for the opening credits of Seven.

I’ve got the Pocket Rocket which is light weight, properly waterproof and packs up to the size of a mouse’s testicle.

Cycleworks have The Orange Gyro 29er in the window. It’d almost look like a normal bike under a giant like you. 🙂

A photographer was taking pictures last time we went to Cwmcarn on the downhill run. We didn’t actually find that out untill our first run down when we went round a corner and there was a bloke in an orange jacket a few feet off the track pointing his camera at us. My mate was a tad surprised and stacked it into the bank. If the photo had come out, I’d have payed good money for it. Maybe an alternative would be to find a local race and set yourself up nice and early near a jump or some other interesting feature. You’d be in the spectating area so no surprises for the riders.

Get a pair of molegrips on the rim and bend the dent gently out. I’ve done it to two largish dents in my tubeless rims and they still inflate and stay up perfectly. Put some rag between the jaws to stop them damaging the rims too much. Persevere, it’ll be worth it to not worry about punctures.

Use a mini co2 inflator. It’ll get it seated every time.

I use the Truflo micro inflator. 20g cartridge easily fills a mountainbike tyre. Very small and light, but whichever one you use make sure it has the neoprene jacket on it or it’ll take your skin off. Cartridges are off the internet(co2 cartridge world or something). Loads of places doing them for around the same price. We bought thirty and they worked out around £3.50 for ten which is a fraction of what you’ll pay for the Genuine Inovation ones in bike shops. Just make sure you order the right ones i.e threaded or unthreaded.

bigrich and molgrips-I bow to your supreme knowledge. Thank you.
Rachel-After Thursday’s soaking ride, I’m not sure my skin is waterproof. I swear I weighed another stone when I got home!
    And finally…Jamie-You the man!!

I’ve just bought my second Electron Backupz 6 LED rear light. No bracket needed, plenty bright enough, never moves, only £10 and the battery lasts for bleeding ages.

Surrey to Cwmcarn is easy in a day, and depending on your riding you could have a bash at the downhill course or the Twyrch Trail. In this weather I’d hit S Wales every time. It’s not going to happen often.

Sorry, I did a forum search but it didn’t come up with anything. Can’t see the Flickr photos but I’m imagining someone came up with a DIY version long before this one came on the market? BTW I’ve found the V1 model reduced for £20 but it doesn’t look half as good. Going to wait for the new pimpy version whenever that emerges on UK shores. Sounds like it’s going to fly off the shelves though.

I had a Civic Estate which was a bloody brilliant car. Air con, leather, electric sunroof and ultra reliable. Sold it for a grand to upgrade and I’m now looking to downgrade again so I’ll be hunting for another one soon. Big boot too.

    Pot noodle before ride.
    Snickers during ride.
Three pints, a packet of peanuts and two bars of dairy milk after ride for “recovery”.
Trust me, it’s the next Atkins diet!

    So to summarise so far.
    It gets pretty bloody rocky.
    It used to be better.
    Suspension is mode of choice.
    Cut out the boring bits.
    No cheese on toast (rubbish).
    It’s a really good blast.
    Climbs will induce sick-bag.

    Will go to find out.

I got stung in “The Great Credit Card Rip Off” but I’ve now gone back to using them again. You’d hope they would now have learnt from their mistakes (if they were their mistakes) and have tightened things up? So far so good.

Can be more specific if you like, i.e The Beast-Would sell Grandmother to ride, or Temtiwr-Wouldn’t touch it with yours!

Looks good fun! Certainly wouldn’t want to do it on a hardtail. Looks kinda bumpy. We’re planning a long weekend up there in the summer and I was wondering if there were enough trails to keep us busy for a full two days?

That is one top tip ssboggy. I haven’t even heard of Sugru before but I’ll be giving it a go now. Clever stuff. Might even post a video here if it turns out good enough.

Thanks for posting that Milkie. It looks way better than I was expecting. Nice video by the way. I think I’ll buy both helmet and bar mount and give them a go with maybe a rubber shim as Crell mentioned? Thanks guys.

Stoney, how do you even have time to ride a bike with all those kids? You’re going to need one of those bikes The Goodies used to ride, so you can go out with the whole family. So much for saddles cutting off the blood supply and making you sterile!

Thanks for posting that report. Got to say I’m a tad jealous that you’re 30 mins away from it and I’m stuck in SE England probably a good 2 1/2 hours drive away. It’s looking very good though.

If anyone on here goes to the open day on Saturday, any chance they could report back on how it’s looking? It’s looking like it’s going to be a blast.

Cheers Flow, that does make sense. And thanks too Wwaswas for the Mojo tip-off. Free delivery too so I think I’ll just go ahead and give it a go.

Have a look at American Classic Tubeless wheelset. Bought mine last year and I think it weighs around 1500gms. Their pretty tough (I’ve used them for downhilling at Cwmcarn) and I’ve had absolutely no problems with them.

Update…….Light arrived today in plenty of time and it looks great. Can’t believe what you get for your money. Wish lights were that cheap when I bought mine a few years ago. Top service from a really nice bloke. Thanks to everyone for the recommendations.

I’ve had two sets go, and a mate’s had two go as well. Won’t touch them now. Get my pads from Disco Brakes and have never had a problem.
