Has anyone used Bontrager Jones XR tyres, I have them on my Trek and they are rubbish in the wet. Will I be better off getting some 2.1 Nevegals?

Well, it works out at 55% off list plus whatever your comapny decides to charge you at the end.

Is this your first road bike? If so, good choice. Some very good parts, light frame and looks good.

I forget to mention that there were marks all over the floor from where it had been pulled into place. And looking at how well it has been forced into the gap of the tree trunk, it has been placed there.

Maybe the branch did fall down on its own accord, but it has been put there by a few hands.

I found a phone on the floor in my local uni car park. I text the last 5 texts messages back explaining that I found this phone and wanted to contact the owner.
3 people text back to say whose it was and he phoned the phone while he was with one of his mates and I arranged to had it into reception for him.

    Brian at http://www.thecyclejersey.com/ is awesome.

Just got my mountain mayhem kit from him and his customer service is brilliant.

Also, if you provide the design he will make it.

    What tools do you carry?
As for the trail, it is situated in a private forrest with public rights of way and briddle paths. This trail has been there for about 15 years and the local land owners have never stopped the locals from riding it.

However, more and more obstacles and blockages have appeared over the last 6 months but the local riders suspect there are few dog walking village idiots that are trying to get us to stop.

I ride an XTC and even though it’s a 2006 SE version that cost £500 it is an amazing ride. Frame design is perfect for racing.

It is amazing. Pick a trail that you know like the back of your hand and gosh, does it look, feel and ride different at night.

I managed to get round mine in a very similar time to a daylight ride which we were all well impressed with.

Especially when we got to a wood that scared the living daylights out of us as the wild bore were having a party.

If you have a decent set of lights and a long trail near you, how about a 4 hour night ride?
I did one last week and it was so much fun.

A cold Dominos pizza then is called for at 4am or the day befores curry. Result. Wellies will be purchased tomorrow. But I am the kind of nutter that goes out riding in the wet and boggy conditions the Gloucestershire hills offer even on Christmas day at 5am so I don’t think the course is going to shock me. It will do for my fairy team mates however.

Does anyone have a short version of the route, i.e hill, flat, wood, decent, hill etc?

Green Day are now classed as sell outs like the chillies, U2 and Oasis.

Find an album that sells loads and then repeat the next 2 or 3 albums with the same sounds.

Shame as Dookie and American Idiot are so different but 21st CBD is American Idiot rebadged IMO.

We are looking to drag out a ride for about 5 – 6 hours so it looks like W2 followed by Skyline. Joxster, under 3 hours for Skyline is a cracking pace.

I like Muc off waterbased degresser on chains but there is no real substitue for proper disc cleaners and most non specific cleaners leave a fine film on the metal work and is not good for pads.

If you ride XC then a hardtail is most peoples prefered option unless you are doing 40miles + and the comfort of a 3″ or 4″ FS is a welcome addition i found.

If you only ride trail centers then 5″ is the largest you need.

If you like to jump then 6″ is the choice.

I ride with one ear in on main roads, but when you are belting along at 20mph+ you can’t hear anything due to the wind noise so does it actually make any difference?
I was told of a week or so ago by another rider who said he was shouting at me for over a mile to tell me to take them out. Once he got my attention he siad how dangerous it was as you couldn’t hear what was going. He then over took me and was 3m infront of me and I was shouting at him and he couldn’t hear me. So his point was what?

I have an Aldi wireless one. It has 12 functions inc heart rate monitor and altitude sensor. Cost me £20 and actually out performs my friends £100 Cateye. If you want to spend a bit more, have a look at the Blackburn range. I have a Delphi 5 and it is super accurate.

Cheers peeps, some good advice. Two of the guys do tri’s and the other is a very good sports rider so the aim is to try and keep with them. I play field hockey once a week and train once so I think you could be right about the lack of recovery. But the quality of the miles isn’t the problem as I live in the cotswolds so it’s the best riding around for a roadie.
