Brilliant event, MTFU about the course. It’s a mountain bike event called Mayhem. First time for me and loved it. All my team loved it and yes it was a hard slog but thats part of the fus isn’t it.
As for cheating, yes I saw rather a alot of people taking the tarmac route at the top of the first climb and also some s**ts cutting off the first real single track wooded section as they dipped under the tape and onto the tarmac going the other way. Didn’t get there numbers as I would have reported them. That cut off 3/4 mile.
Do all your bearings in one it as it is soooooooooooooooooo much easier. Also, use a bench top vise and a socket set to press them out and back in out. Never use a hammer!
Oggles, I read the same thing but I am not sure how possible that will be. They have done some modifications to drainage and I believe they have put some form of gravel in the worse parts to stop it getting boggy. But who really cares. The course will be however it is.
Worst area exactly was just before you drop down (coming from the car park)into the overgrown thin tree little forrest that is getting overgrown. I have to say it is the place where I find lots of sticks. As it is just off the main briddle path.
Pat is keeping the details under his hat. But they have said that they have listened to riders feedback from last year and will be making significant improvements. Need to remember that they can only do a small amount as they have to keep the area natural. 2 climbs like last year and similar wooded sections I am lead to believe. As for rock gardens, drop offs and north shore. I think not.
Depends on age, how true they are, condition, disc or v brake etc. Rolf Dolomites are not common place in the UK and are mainly for the American market, hence why you wont find many for sale to gauge a price against.
