There are only 2 manufacturers that I am aware of that are struggling to keep up with demand.
Boardman as they never expected such a fantastic set of reviews and demand for low cost bikes. Trek with the EX8 as it is the second fastest selling bike in their history and are just about to release the 2010 model so production has been switched.

A downhill track down the back towards One Who Waits may work!

The group I saw were all huddled in a entrance to the saw mill. Loads of them.

Lister, there will be a huge surplus of 2009 bikes on the market in 3 months time when all the 2010 bikes are out so if you can hang on do so. But looking at Sram and Shimano's price rises, next years bikes will be more expensive with less quality fitted to them.

If you are going down the C2W scheme, make sure your company is not tied to one retail outlet so you get a better choice. If you want a descent 4" xc bike then a Giant Anthem X2 for £1600 is my choice (Some places are doing it for £1400). Great review, good spec and a top ride. You will save 40% off list so comes in at £960.

What about a few signs on the DH track pointing the riders to this site?
As they may be a little annoyed that there hard work has either been blocked or knocked down and will then turn into more of a battle than a "save the trail" initiative. Some justification will be required.

Or f*** it and just go up there late one night and flatten the lot.
Then blame it all on Mr Bowen.

Either way you will have annoyed riders and this may then lead them onto returing the favour and blocking the shrine.

Tang, worse case, we just come up with a new route that is made up briddle paths. I have been looking at it today and think it is nearly possible but will make the ride boring as sin!

I must have just missed them all.

Tang, when were you out to see that many people. I only ever see a maximum of 5 but did see the Bigfoot lot one night with what looked like a club ride with about 12-16 riders so not massive.

I thought lots of it was private and therefore the NT and FC do not have much or any legislation, only to make sure the bridleways are passable.

Plus in the 20 years I have been riding the woods I have never seen a no biking sign.

Specialized Allez Ellite 2010 or hang out for a 2009 for about £600.

Bit harsh to say they were being ridden to distruction. Yes they were very wet and muddy over the winter but you have to think those tracks have been there for over 25 years with very little maintenance.

I only use the bridleway from the Golf course to the Cranham junction so am not really worried about popes wood as I do think it has got silly up there again. But the jumps next to the shrine are OTT IMO.

I am glad it is being looked into as this may highlight the number of riders that use the area and force the local authority to think about dedicating some of it to us. Like they did in the FOD.

Depends on the year/engine size and the overall weight but between 30 and 45 I have been told by the T4 and T5 boys.

Not a chance, have to race a mate and finish with pride. That is not an option I am afraid.

That is true 1 Hours hard riding will use 600 calories. I always treat myself to a lardy cake and a hot chocolate when I get in either at home or in the car. Followed by a pack of wine gums!

I find that my legs just give up as they think the ride is over. They even start playing me up when I have a pee stop.

Most of my 100 mile rides have been rellatively flat so I guess a harder climbing route will require more fluid/food intake.

Horse for courses I guess. But when I do the 100k Merida marathon in Selkirk, I will be stopping at the feed stations to fill up.

I use a high carb energy drink so on a 100 mile road ride I will uses 2 x 1 litre bottles and have 1 bananna and a few bits of flap jack. I don’t really eat when riding as I find my drink mix gives me all I need. But stopping after 50 miles or so for lunch is a no no for me as I will just not be able to get rythem back.

I have been thinking the same thing. I also have a MK4 Golf and find it OK for getting 1 bike in with kit, but 2 bikes is an all wheels off afair and I really don’t like using rear racks but have started recently.
Was actually looking at getting a VW Transporter or a similar spec van and trying to turn it into a street sleeper. But then thought about the day to day trips to work. With that in mind I have been looking at Passat estates as 6k will buy you a decent spec one with 70k on the clock.

Yeah, there were a few out. But The wall, Bluebell woods, Cranham Corner, One who waits, Shrine and race track were all quiet. What time were you out?

Only saw a solo woman and a group of 3 guys one with a red Trek top on.

Fairy liquid the chain then give it a good brush after 3 or 4 rides.

I always apply lots of ptfe lube but make sure that I only leave the chain for 5 minutes then wipe all the excess off. After all, you only need to lube the bushes.

You will end up riding at a different angle and this may slightly change riding efficiency and may change handling by a fraction. But 100mm on an 80mm frame will be fine. I assume it an Anthem or XTC?

Carp are a little tough. You really need to cook them slowely to get the flesh to flake. You need to take about 90% of them and leave the remaining 10% to turn into monsters and I will come and try a catch them!

As I said, if you had waited until 3.30pm you could of had a look. But they have to make sure all the DNF are correct.

I work for a world leading company in hot water generation that prides themselves on looking after their staff. We have spent millions on a huge refurbishment of our office and are currently monitoring our carbon foot print inline with EU regulations.

So guess what? We have nothing apart from a bike shed with gates.

And then when we do ride into work, people complain that we are getting in early to have a srip wash in the toilets.

Mate got one for mountain mayhem and it is a fantastic bit of kit.
Also reduced from £750 to £550.

Did anyone end up in the pond at the bottom of the (our team name) “Olympic Sliding Hill”? As I was very close once it got super slushy.
