I have crossrides that I use as winter wheels and have found the same problem. They are fine on my 160mm disc XC bike but dont really like 185mm+ discs as the front hub does flex.

These are XC wheels and are kinda light so they are not designed to be abused by agressive XC or to be used on large rotors.

Don't get Hope unless you like getting off the bike ever 10 minutes to do them up or better still have a wheel drop out on a jump!

    XT every time!

Dan, pratice makes perfect. I was a cr@p jumper and have started going over all the Shrine jumps with more confidence and also those 2 in Popes. Have cleared the one on the left but the one on the right requires so much speed to clear. But getting there.

It lush and dry up there isn't it.

Take the rear swing arm off and check all the bearings. Sometimes just a good clean with GT85 will solve it.

I have a mate who rides it and he says it is OK but is still up and coming. But worth £3 all day.

Is that the one in Calne that closed down about 6 months ago?

I used a teflon bearing grease so it stays on the shaft of the where it meets the inners of the bush. GT85 etc is too thin.

May be a bit of a pain in the arse but looks like you may be able to see from the other way up if you remove that part of the linkage.

I wouldn't like to say on that without a better look, but the welds are in the direction of the applied force so there is no weld where the crack is.

My Trek was doing this. I removed the upper and lower shock pivot bolts (holding the shock in place).
Cleaned the bolts, got a cotton bud and cleaned the inner of the bushes and then lubricated both bolts, inside the bushes and slid them back in.

Now runs really smooth apart from an annoying puff of air from the shock!

I bet you find the pivot bolts have grooves in them from where the bush has been rubbing on it.

I see, one big loop of the forest. Is it worth the hack over cranham?

Dan, I know the carpark (one with the fencae al? the way around) but which is the top path? (Actually on the beacon)?

They can only transmit over a certain distance. Normally 50cm's.

So it should be an issue.

    Dan will do 😆
Yeah did see you. We were up there for nearly 3 hours and had loads of fun. Shrine jumps are great.

I need to learn some of the routes in the FOD. Only 30 mins drive for me.

We always see loads when we are XC on the fire roads.

KIS 2 should get planning permission this week!

There is a track that horse use near the bottom of that DH track that may give options. But not sure the owner of the forest will be that happy.

Graham is running round on a santacruz blinged up with red hope goodies.
Also wears Mace kit and has a beard!

Darren, were you in the dumping car park talking to Graham? Me and my mate shot past the 3 of you there. Popes wood was ace earlier. Love the drop in jumps.

JB was in the woods earlier with his wife and dog (9.30-10am) near the top of the shrine.
Not seen any damage as we spent 30mins messing about on jumps and talking to Graham Foot.
Did notice that the tile tack have been removed from the poster.

As for the down hill the oposite side of the Shrine. We rode the whole thing earlier and it is brilliant. The only thing is the first section brings you out at at the briddle path then you bang a right and then hit a jump and carry on.

Only downer is there is the downhill just stops randomly and there is no trail to get to the top and it is one hell of a climb back up.

Piece of cake, took me 5 minutes earlier. Two bolts. Dont forget to lube the pivot bolts up when you put them back in to avoid the snapping noise from the shock!

I tend to ride up that trail to get to the bomb holes before the shrine (where JB poster is). Since the FC have cut down all those trees I have seen the DH track develop. There is a load more potential up there but don't want to see anymre building up there as it is getting a little silly.
I was almost hit the other week when a DH rider flew over that large tree stump drop just before the new left hand turning berm area. When I was hacking my way up the main path.

As for Popes, the new trail is a fun way to get to the road.
I tend to ride from the car park by the golf course and head up towards the jump area, there is a track that goes off to the right near where the big drop in is. You then have two options to get down the hillm one is to go straight down which is fast but boring, or hang a right at the top and you have a good fun run to the bottom.

Will be up there in an hour so may see people out.

My Giant OCR 3 does it. I think it is due to the compact design of the bike. Only caught my foot twice over 1200 miles on it.

Just about to watch the Mens race. Women were OK but agree that their basic skills seem to have deserted them. Would love to ride my race lite XC hardtail round there. But they are still super quick.
