Had to send my Revelations back twice to Fisher's for warranty issues – in the end, got a full refund.

Wouldn't be so bad I suppose but the Boxxer World Cups I had also went back to Fishers for warranty work and were still awful afterwards.

After years of liking Rock Shox I would look elsewhere now.

Marzocchi are well worth a punt now as they appear to have solved all their manufacturing problems – and with the 3 year warranty that beats any other fork manufacturer. They must be pretty confident to have solved all problems by offering that.

tbh all 3 parties don't seem to have credible policies for (i) turning the economy around (ii) lowering taxes and (iii) getting Government off our backs.

Clearly, items 2 and 3 are linked – any party that cut taxes would need a LOT fewer Civil Servants handing out our money and many fewer schemes, Gov't Dept's etc – thereby cutting back on the Nanny State and reducing the magnitude of unnecessary things the Labour Gov't has become involved in.

    Easy fix.

A cable tie, bit of araldite and duct tape. No problem.

Turner 5 Spot – no question.

    I've had 3 of them.

Also owned Spesh SX Trail, Kona Coilers (x2), Spesh SX Supercross, Commie Meta 5, so have experienced a few…

    Turner beats 'em all.

If you want a little used pair of Hayes Stroker Ride's off my wife's bike I'm selling them for £35 posted. Rear caliper has slight weep/leak.

She already has new brakes and I can't honestly be bothered to fix it.

You have 2 dogs, are into surfing and mountainbiking and want a Lupo?

Buy 2 and weld them together…

Hold on – we armed, trained and funded the Taliban and they now want to kill us.

Has anyone wondered how many years it'll be before the folks we're now arming, training and funding will turn against us?

    Talented: Yes.

    All rounder? No.

Lance Armstrong's got way more all-round ability: murders most climbing specialists up climbs and murders most time trialists in time trials.

Oh, so does Alberto Contador for that matter…

But Lance also kills mountain bikers at their own discipline – like winning the Leadville 100 by a country mile.

If my memory serves me right, he was a pretty nifty Triathlete in his younger days. US National Champion.

And his trousers don't hang off his arse.

    Now, that's an All-Rounder! :D

I gave up and went to a Blackspire Stinger on my SX Trail, running a double with bash.

Have had three 5 Spots (two TNT and one HL rear end) and now my DW Link Flux.

All are fantastic bikes. Depending on build,my Spots weighed between 28lbs and 32lbs…

My DW Flux is 27.26lbs with my normal tyres on but the previous owner had some bling cranks, carbon bars and XTR everything else and it was 25.25lbs.

The DW link has raised the performance of all Turner models up a notch – there are now plenty of people putting 6 inch forks on 5 Spots, or like me, running 100/120/140mm forks on Flux's.

The new Spot is the old RFX (we all know that Turners new RFX will take the place of the Highline) and the new Flux is the old Spot!

My DW Flux is every bit as capable as any of my three Spots were and due to its lighter weight and greater zippiness is a much better option for 99% of UK trail riding.

There's also currently a post on the Turner MTBR with a guy who's built up an 'AM Flux' with CCDB coil shock plus other bling. Dave Turner's replied on that post too and rates it…

    In previous, 25.25lbs guise…

Tell thyem you were mis-sold the job and it turned out not to be what you had expected.

If they ask you to elaborate there is nothing wrong with saying that there has been very high churn in the role due to overbearing management.

That is not 'rubbishing' your current employer, it is being honest but not negative.

If the company you're interviewing at doesn't respect that – they don't deserve you.

Watched in on a plane to the US last year.

Quite enjoyed it…. good enough film but it's not great. For me, it was a bit similar to Jarhead – watchable, but not gripping.

    Maverickboy speaks the truth:

The answer also lies with not changing our cars every 3 years (or however long) with them being designed for a 10 year shelf life. It is far less environmentally damaging to keep a 10 year old car running that perhaps does 30mpg than it is to go out and buy a new equivalent that does 45mpg! Mainly because the amount of energy required to make a car in the first place is estimated to equal the equivalent amount of fuel a car will burn in an average 7 years on the road milage!

I've often thought of replacing my 16 year old Isuzu 4wd with something newer – but why? It's still pretty reliable, costs pennies to service & repair and it's FAR kinder to the planet to keep the thing going a few more years than seal the fate of more CO2 emissions buy buying a new or newer car.

People sometimes ask me what car they should get. My answer is "The one you've already got".

What you want are the German Army Gore Tex overtrousers. These have integrated braces.

I bought a pair brand new off eBay for about £15 – the exact same as the ones in item number 370313857019

You can also get German Army ones in Flecktarn camo pattern with the same braces. These tend to have the knee length zips on the lower leg rather than the velcro strap that the plain olive green ones have.

Of course, either style can be cut down if you wish – but the advantage of the German Army ones is definitely the integrated braces which stop any issues when riding.

£100 for what is an utterly cr@pola piece of cr@p????

    WTF?

They'd have to give them away for them to be worth anything.

Speaking from personal experience – not hearsay.

I'm 45 and started riding in 1990. in 1996 I got my first FS and since then I've gone back to hardtail twice )Fat Chance Yo Eddy the first time, On One 456 most recently).

I think i've got hardtails out of my system now – the 456 was fun but frankly was just awful compared to my Turner Flux.

I certainly won't be going back to a hardtail anytime soon.

Good thing they are cheap because they are truly SH1TE!!

I went to a £24 pair of Shimano M520's and have had zero problems.

Crank Bros deserve lynching for foisting cruddy products on the innocent public.

When I was in Whistler I was just about the only person there not using DH forks.

Everyone riding the normal DH runs there was on a proper DH rig, not a beefed up AM machine.

    MTB:
    1. Complete 3 Enduros, each of 4hr-6hrs duration
    2. Usual Alps week's Downhilling (Morzine/Les Gets)

    Road:
    1. Complete 4 Sportive's (1 Spring, 2 Summer, 1 Autumn)

The above goals will be sufficient to ensure that I am riding at least each weekend plus the usual midweek night ride.

I'm comparing Formula The One's with XTR and X2's because they seem very light compared to most brakes. They're rated for AM/DH use but they are as light as many XC brakesets. At least, if you believe the stated weight.

Having just interviewed 2 people currently at SAS, the company may be good but their people are not that great. 'Middleweight' is how I would describe them.

SAS is a strong company though – will look good on your CV.

What's the job? R&D, Services, Sales, Marketing, dogsbody?

I've had some ZRT355's (Hope Hoops) since the summer and have given them a right thrashing – including this past weekend riding blasting rocky, technical, rough trails downhill in Spain (not DH – more like very aggressive trail riding – much rockier than anything in UK).

I'm 15 stone and the wheels are straight and true.

    I rate 'em!

I have a whole bunch of mtb DVD's you could while away long dark winter nights watching…

    – Clorophilla

    – Earthed Boxed Set (i.e. Earthed 1, 2, 3 and 4)

    – Counterparts (Aaron Chase)

    – Unscene

    – Disordely Conduct

    – Super 8

    – Anti Gravity 1

    – Anti Gravity 2

    – Rush

    Plus some skills training/development DVD's:

    – Tricks & Stunts

    – Fundamentals (Dirt)

    – Crank It Up

    Plus 1 or 2 others I don't have to hand…..

I would prefer them to go as a job lot – will be cheap. Email me if interested.
