You have to spend over £100 – then you get a £50 discount voucher – which you use against a future order which must be over £100.

It’s not a bad deal at all – but it’s a bit misleading because it suggests that you get £50 off when you spend £100… which you don’t. You get £50 off when you spend £200 which must be split across 2 separate orders.

Not really truth in advertising is it?

I’m travelling with work every week too… and looked at a Samsonite Pro DLX 3 in Frankfurt airport shop last Weds.

Being pretty picky, this thing fitted my needs exactly – not too large (I don’t need more than 2-3 nights’ clean shirts/pants/socks etc), very good wheels (larger diameter than most – important so it doesn’t get those annoying little stones/gravel stuck in them), very ‘wheel-able’ if you know what I mean, with a well-made, sturdy collapsible handle, and also has excellent business storage pockets (papers, laptop etc).

At the airport shop it was £250 – found it online here for £129(!)

Well TJ, if I enjoyed a “good lynching” as you have suggested I would hardly be disturbed by pictures of the remains of people having been burned alive, other victims who had tortured/murdered or by their children who have lost their fathers & mothers would I?

Useful to apply logic before posting sometimes.

Enjoy a good lynching do you digger?

Think you should re-read my post as you’ve clearly missed the point.

    No.

However, I was disturbed to see the pictures of the victims his troops burned alive in warehouses a couple of weeks ago.

I was disturbed to see pictures of the civilians he has tortured and murdered.

I was disturbed to see the crying faces of the children whose mother and fathers he murdered.

2 mates have them: 1 smaller diesel, 1 the 6cyl diesel.

Both get same mileage, as smaller diesel works much harder for same weight/speed etc. Buy the bigger engined one if you get one.

As Hora said – they are the equivalent of an Inverse Tardis – huge outside, small inside. No bigger than a normal family car.

My wife’s 16yr old Isuzu Trooper and my cheap as chips Kia Sedona are much more useable for packing family/kids/bikes/dogs in as well as towing.

That said, I do really like the driver’s seating position in my mates higher-spec Touareg – very nice!

I presume the damage was caused when the lock was forcibly removed…

Looking at the pics of the frame and the location of the damage… I think bullandbladder is spot on!

Be nice if they left the factory right in the first place at the price they charge

And every expensive bike made by every manufacturer has been perfect, right?

There is and always will be some error in every manufacturing process. Turner are no different in that regard, but they are very different than other manufacturer’s who I’ve had problem bikes from who foist the problem on you the customer. Basically their attitude was “You bought it – sod off” whereas Turner always give great service no matter if you are the first owner or the seventh. Now that is customer service.

organic… that Cotic X above takes discs and it can be ready this weekend with very, very little used Shimano Tiagra 9spd groupset, FSA Gossamer triple chainset, DT Swiss wheelset on Shimano hubs etc for £700 collected. It would be easy and cheap to upgrade it to Avid BB7 discs for example.

I have E width feet and found Sidi, Shimano etc too narrow. I now use Specialized BG road and mtb shoes which have nice wide toe boexs and wider fittings in general I find.

I’m selling a Cotic X in your size… I could also build it into a complete bike with a newish full Tiagra gruppo for approx £700.

Cotic X frame & fork, brand new and unused, 54.8cms effective top tube, 52cms seat tube (both measurements c-to-c).

Bought new a couple of months ago ready for the CX season but plans have changed.

Has been partially built up, then dismantled. Forks never fitted.

Not a mark or scratch on it – literally ‘as new’ from the factory.

    Cost £350 – sell for £300 posted.

Email: simonpearson AT yahoo DOT com

Have a few other parts for sale elsewhere that fit this frame e.g.

    – SRAM Rival OCT CX chainset (rings 38/46) also new in box £120

    – Frogleggs brakeset in White, brand new £25

Interesting thread – this is simiar to what I’m hoping to do on my CX bike.

I want to run Campag shifters/levers with Shimano derailleur cassette (wider cassette ratios and cheaper rear mechs).

Do Campag shifters work with Shimano 9 spd mtb derailleurs e.g. LX, XT, XTR?

Many thanks for the info… so, anybody recommend a decent (but not too expensive) hotel for a family… wife and 3 kids coming with me (spectating, not riding – obviously!).

Sounds like the logical place to stay is in Bruges?

Anything you like… I’ve run RS Lyriks, Revelations, Pike, Fox 32, Fox 36 and Marzocchi 44’s on mine(!)

    Depends how you ride surely?

    Digger90

    Forks: Coil Lyriks

    Rims: Mavic EX721’s

Helmets: Usually buy something around £80-£100 (not £300 POC’s!) because like you, I crash and cheap ones I don’t mind replacing each year, they’ve done their job.

    Rotors: Any 180mm/160mm will do

    Brakes: Shimano XT

    Shoes: FiveTen

    BB: Saint

    Derailleur: Saint

That is all Alps kit that is tried, tested and reliable for me. Been to Morzine/Les Gets 6 years running and Whistler 1 year. Tried lots of other stuff – Hope brakes, Marzocchi forks, different shifters, derailleurs, shoes, pedals etc… the above is what I’ve settled on and is reliable.

Proper maintenance of the bike is very important IMHO. I strip my bike down to every last nut and bolt – completely bare frame, and build it from scratch prior to every Alps week. I service everything as I’m doing this. I repeat the strip down/service after the week.

The usual result is I’m the only one out of about 10 of us that never has any mechanicals (there goes that luck for next year now!).

The sum total of damage to my bike this year after a week-long thrash in Morzine was a slightly abraded cable housing on the rear derailleur.

Hora – if I’m reading your post right, welcome to the world of Turner ownership. I’m on my sixth Turner now. I’ve bought, ridden, and sold plenty of other bikes alongside them, but they are always something special.

Anyone thinking of buying the XTR brakeset just to be clear that these are the ‘race’ set not the ‘trail’ set i.e. you don’t get the free stroke adjustment.

Shame, as I would have bought them otherwise.

All of the above are durable IME.

I prefer the feel of Campagnolo hoods/shifters, but Shimano gearing gives you more options (wider cassette ranges, wider choice of derailleurs).

If you’re interested I have a new in box SRAM Rival CX chainset/BB for £120 posted. Cost £180. Bought for new CX build which didn’t happen. Will work with all SRAM, Shimano or Campag gears.

Phew! That really was THE most exciting TdF in many years.

Epic battles between Schleck, Contador, Evans and Voeckler and of course the green jersey battles between Cavendish and everyone else. The spectacular firework style of racing that Philippe Gilbert delivers, the eye-watering (and sometimes race-changing) crashes involving Hoogerland, Vinokourov, Wiggins, and Contador and the giant-killer ‘never say die’ fights from Tommy Voeckler to retain the Maillot Jaune for so very long.

    I can’t wait for next year’s Tour!

It’s very professionally run, is clean, efficient etc. They have a good setup at Flyup.

Runs are very short but there is sufficient variety for a day. You will find yourself sessioning teh same runs over and over though. The shuttle itself is also very short – which is great. They literally take you to the end of the road, turn left up a road and up a hill and you’re there. That’s great, as lengthy uplift runs really eat into your day otherwise.

Majorca is always good. Plenty of companies and riders go there in Spring time for training camps etc and there’s good reason – the roads, terrain and weather are excellent.

Sept will be very warm still but not burning hot like July/August.

If you Google around there’s plenty of info about road routes and biking in Majorca.

    It’s all Cycling.

Are you just a Mountain Biker, or are you in love with Cycling?

I’ll ride anything with 2 wheels and have MTBs, DH bike, CX bike, Road Bike and a hack.

Frankly, I think there’s too much separatism in our sport. We’re all cyclists.

Why do people want to classify themselves into a category at all? Is it to take on an identity? Is it because they’re lacking something in their lives and need a herd to join?
