Cheers guys. The argument for paying by card is a none starter really, having driven to Greece a few times the difference between having a tag in France and not in Italy was massive, especially when driving through the night!
Quite a bit of a cost difference in the 2 mentioned above. The emovis would cost me 48euros for the 2 months id be using it once you add in the registration fee, account management fee, deposit and surcharge. The bip and go is about half that, even with 10e postage there’s only a 10e registration fee and 1.70 per month surcharge. Presuming I can get that one without a French bank account it’s definitely the one to beat at the minute, cheers!

@helen.and.hills I was the one that rode to Chapel Stile for water Sunday morning, and Ambleside for a Chinese Saturday night, *waves
Was nice to meet you both again, my ride took a turn for the worse after we left you at Loughrigg, I had a big otb in a rocky stream and landed on my head and both hands, so the descents after that were taken at a slightly more sedate pace 😂
I presume it was the group at Rydal Cave that gave you some grief, I don’t think we saw any others?

Thanks Rich for organising another amazing weekend! Hardest one yet, possibly because of the heat, but was a great route once again. We were just too late into langdale for food at any of the pubs so ended up riding into Ambleside at 10pm for a Chinese and delivering it back to our group in Elterwater! Had a big off this morning in the rocky stream at the far end of Rydal water, helmet did its job but is toast. We did the rest of the route albeit the last loop which we forgave for a blast down the 3 rivers as I could barely hold the bars by then.
Just in from a+e and I’ve done the last 20 miles with a broken hand. I’ll be off the bike for a while, but will def be back next year!

Drug dealer or not, I don’t think the guy I saw bought it from a shop 😂

I’ve never really seen the draw of Norland Moor tbh. Always seems like a bit of a pedal-fest, and like Andy says, you can feel it grinding miles off your drive train. Might be popular mainly because it’s pretty easy riding down that edge of the valley.
Elland Woods i think I’ve only ever managed to ride once in the dry, every time we head there at least one of our group spanners either themselves or their bike 😂
I’d be looking for some rocky bridleways this time of year, get some miles in and leave the woods for spring. Or get a road bike.

I know at Inners it was an issue with an RRP Max, but with a bit of a squeeze it went in. Was easier with 2 people loading it

It’s definitely worth a visit if you’ve not been before! If you need to put up tents you won’t get more local than the New Delight pub in Colden, but the riding will be straight from the door (or flap). Pretty much all the best riding is ‘cheeky’, but there are that many new tracks appearing and people riding them at the moment that a lot of the locals revolting. You’d get the best out of a visit by meeting up with a few locals who can show you the best bits where you’re least likely to upset people or get shouted at at any given time. There are scenic, xc loops aplenty too, but i guess you’re not coming for that kind of riding!

Stumbled across it by accident today – its very impressive! The green trail is great, my kids loved it, and it’s obviously been built with accessibility in mind.
The pump track is HUGE and very good also.
I had a quick chat to the lady in Sutton Bank Bikes, apparently it was only finished last week but they haven’t advertised it at all yet as the area is pretty much at covid capacity as it is (was very busy there today, but not many on bikes). All paid for by our friends in the EU too!

Come down from the pike, don’t go through the gap in the wall but follow it around over the board walks. Through or over another gate then where the track forks, take the left or the slither of path between the L and R options, both will lead you eventually to the top of kebab Street. From the bottom of there just shoot back up Spencer Lane to the top of Crow Nest / Ernies.

Thanks. If you didn’t see it it’s been moved. It was about a foot in diameter and waste height across the bottom of pecket well.
Have fun tomorrow, seems to be drying out quite nicely the last few days

Same here. Get price online, exchange that many vouchers (well, 1/3 that amount but you know what I mean). Ring up and book with the Tesco code. Never had a price change

So off the back of this thread I ordered an FTX colt which arrived today. I got home all excited to play with it, and have been disappointed since.
One of the rear shocks was in bits in the box with the spring rolling around the bottom, bit of an inconvienience but i think I sorted it eventually (presume it’s just a push fitting into the bottom, despite it looking threaded?)
Sorted all that, took it outside for a spin and the controller has a mind of it’s own. The steering was reversed, flipped the switch to correct it which worked, but then closed the lid on the transmitter and it reverted back to reversed again. Steering needs to be trimmed fully one way in order to go in a straight line, which means it turns on a sixpence one way, and makes a massive arc the other. It also doesn’t like to reverse. Probably 1 in 5 attempts will result in it moving, the others it just sits there doing nothing.
Any ideas before it goes back tomorrow? Currently giving it a full charge, although I wouldn’t expect it to make such a difference. I tried binding the control as per the instructions but even that didn’t seem to work as it should (blinking light afterward rather than static).
Cheers for any help, if it wasn’t £80 I’d have thrown it at the wall by now!

Cutting forme manufacturing here. Last week was a lot of new signage for supermarkets and some banking literature, then the last few days has been loads of formes for cutting Pvc face shields for the NHS.
    It’s certainly varied!

Wow! Thanks for the replies so far. I had considered the payload, I’ve got C1 so not as much of an issue but definitely something to look out for.
The ages of the kids is partly the reason we’re looking at doing it now, while they still want to come on holiday with us and are generally pleasant to be around!
Hadn’t thought of trade shows, were only calderdale so will probably have a trip over to Manchester this weekend for a mooch about

Yep. It’s normally a decent weekend as it coincides with the comedy festival and beer festival so you can utilise both of those too, think it might be a bit more low key this year so we’ve decided to stay off site with families and just drive in for the day

How much water are you planning on carrying? I remember last year being desperate Sunday morning and finding a pub tap somewhere near Grizedale. Hoping to get away with carrying a single 750ml bottle

As said, I’d avoid anywhere near the centre of Wisbech. My sister’s lived around there for a few years. March isn’t bad, nice enough town centre, train station etc. She just moved to Wimblington which looked half decent when we visited a few weeks ago. You can give up any idea of mountain biking though. I went out on a 25 mile ride and my max elevation was under 20 foot…

@grannyjone, try Spaggot, bearded lady, **** yeah and Slater wood, just not this week. They could all do with a couple of weeks to dry out!

As for riding back to Hb from the bottom of pecket, you can fork right and ride the steps back down to the riverside path, ride/push back up through Lee Wood and drop down to the bowling green at Salem, or, take the road back to Keighley road, cross over, another short climb then a nice descent through nutclough 😄
