Back in the day this sort of wobble was a problem on one edition of the Range Rover, Land Rover solved this by adding a mass damper. Does a full water bottle achieve the same thing?

Your post reads like you think it’s the derailleur length causing the hanger to bend, so if you’re thinking about “lowering” the derailleur in the same way you can to use a larger cassette then it’s one of these

Athletes all in bubbles too, do your sport then leave. No chance to see anything else or enjoy the athletes village. Won’t be the experience 2012 was 🙄

Love silicone bar tape, with Widget my favo brand as they have great colours (orange on the Orro). Good grip, nice insulation from buzz and you can take it off and re-apply it if it moves a bit after some death-grip-gravel-gnarr action.

Why don’t the popo choppers use whisper mode like blue thunder? It really helped with “just outside the window” surveillance 👍

Forgotten about Tinner’s post and the Laura Ashley reference, my apologies. Could do with an index of classic posts – Picolax but more…

Will you deploying a Laura Ashley cushion in true STW style?

I’m not sure that STW style nowadays is Laura Ashley, I think White Company is more it.

So after another fabulous start to their 2nd innings, what do we think England will be on at the close of day 3?

    68-4 is my bet

6, nearly 4 and a third and final one on the way in August.

Secondary schools in Gloucestershire are great with excellent selective entry grammars and private schools in Stroud, Gloucester and Cheltenham, and great comprehensives in Stroud and Cirencester.

Primary schools in most villages are really good.

We also have cows who have right of way on roads and in a local town. Moo

Road and gravel stuff near Malmesbury. Mountain bike stuff north to Nailsworth/Stroud/Cheltenham and NW to Nibley, further SW to Bath. Off road can be horrific in winter due to mud/slop. Nice balance of local stuff, and easy for FoD, BPW, Quantock and summer Mendip action. 👍 plenty of STW folk round here (I’m Stroud) so am sure others will chime in

If they get really nasty clean with brake cleaner spray, then lube with ZipSlip 👍 has a nice brush to apply and actually hangs around. Candle wax falls off IME

Moral victory to NZ, they’ve kept going. England would have liked to come off, to have given up. Next game is lost already.

This performance just reaffirms their lack of confidence, having a go by keeping the scorecard turning taking singles and shots when they come surely would have helped them even if they’d lost they would have remembered the middle ground between blocking and slogging.

Total yawnfest. Another example of England’s lack of ability to bat to suit the situation. This was an opportunity to have a knock and build confidence. Admire NZ attitude, wish we had some of that too

Another HT fan here, did KAW last October on 29er HT with conti race kings 2.0 and it was fine apart from the wet chalk. Friend on a gravel bike did not enjoy himself and was slower on all but the road bits. His take was why am I on a bike which is better on the road bits, not the best bits?

Did this to a Trak stache years ago – 1.5 angleset and went from 120-140. I’m still alive and bike is in 1 piece 👍

I quite like the Conti race king, used it for KAW last year and it was great apart from on the wet chalk of the Ridgeway. Have kept it on the 29HT through the gorgeous S Cotswold winter and it’s great if you ride it CX-style (for me keep it spinning and shift my weighty arse around). On road it flies, gearing is only thing that slows it down. Only had one flint puncture on it, anchovie holding up nicely. So I like them 👍

I repack with marine wheel bearing grease (£8 for 500ml), after using a #11 scalpel blade to carefully remove the seals, then to reseat seals after #surgery. Except with Hope bearings as they actually seem to last.

Put 2.0 Conti Race Kings on the 140mm Stache 29er HT and it is lovely. Super quick and pretty sketchy in the slop, so trails come alive (honestly), it’s like a comfy, more competent gravel bike. On local “gravel” Strava segments its faster too. Like it a lot, makes you ride trails again looking for lines, carrying momentum, changing cadence as grip changes. Quick on tarmac too

Grew up on North side of Mendip (never the Mendips 😂) and it is monumentally bleak in the winter, with mud galore. Complete commuter belt to Bris/Bath now, which is no bad thing as both are nice places to visit, but house prices are high. Quantock (again not the Quantocks 😂) more rural, Taunton is a strange place, Bridgwater improving, easy to get to Bris/Bath too. If I wanted to walk/mtb and be able to access coast and other National parks (Exmoor/Dartmoor) rather than towns I’d go Quantock. But it is more backward (and I’m saying that as a Somerset native 😂)

Another SRAM gxp happy chap here, but always repack with marine grease (a lot), the original scant thin stuff is awful. But do this will all my BB 👍
