I have one of their backpacks with the back protector in, bought as a knee jerk after OTB rolly-polly crash on Exmoor where my back was hurt. V comfy to use and doesn’t feel big, but honestly only use it unless on an uplift

Still no bag, no comms. Pity as bags seem to get good reviews but the company is a joke. Losing patience, next step is Paypal refund request…

+1 for tramantuna tours, did the uplift day – 2/12h down Barranc de Biniaraix on a Trek Slash – great fun
On the other side of the island try roxybike in cala millor – son servera and aubarca are fun up-down single track day rides (other riders will be german so plenty of lycra action)
Or take your own bike/hire one out there and use the rock and ride guide book http://www.rockandride-mallorca.com

Oh god no! Just meant that we shouldn’t take media headlines at face value, we should actually look at what is being reported and try to understand the data. Headlines such as this will worry many people and allow vested interest groups (usually a financial interest) to exploit this worry, whereas an appreciation of the data (in this case the effect of an ageing population on geriatric disease incidence) can allow people to make informed decisions based upon more than a soundbite

Please go an buy a copy of Ben Goldacre’s book Bad Science to see how the media and vested interest groups manipulate statistics and science. Alternatively go to to wikipedia and look up epidemiological transition to better understand this effect

    Well said torihada!

Forgot I actually got a response from duff:

Thanks for your email and apologies for the delay in replying. We were swamped with orders just before Christmas and got way behind with both admin and despatch whilst we focussed on production. We have some extra help in now tidying up the paperwork and any orders that we may have missed and will get your order checked out and get back to you shortly. Really sorry for the delay and if we missed your order, we will do our best to put things right.

That was a week ago, nothing more yet…

get the spin mentor app on your phone – loads of workouts, most are hard work intervals and you can listen to your tunes. Well worth the £1.99 it cost me a few years ago as I use it all the time.

On a cold morning I love to combine my grubby old lined technical trousers with a tweed shooting jacket to walk the dog in true cotswolds style (its the uniform round here). On the bike would look nice combined with some trouser clips :P

High impact interval training on a static bike = 3 min warm up, then alternate 1min flat out (80+% maxHR) 1min recovery for 20-40mins, then 5 min cool down

get a copy of the 1st 20 minutes for good summary of the myths of exercise and simple benefits of HIIT

Pikes are duals so I drop to 130 for climbs, often change to pedal from charger as well
Shock is CCDBair so no need as it is lush on the way up and the way down

Dropping the front end seems to help me but I’m 42

An alternative to electric is solar thermal, we have 4 panels feed into 750L thermal store = sun produces almost all our hot water in the summer and 50-75% of our heating (underfloor) in the winter, and we get paid for what we produce. Will take about 6y in total to repay cost based on performance over last 2y (system talks to manufacturer base) -based upon savings+rebates. System should last 15-20y. We rebuilt so put in ++ insulation so that flatters the system, but would recommend solar thermal if like me you have kids who shower for hours then get out and leave it running.

Bottom of the valley horrific, bridleways very wet (if used by horses regularly then awful), top of the hill on the cotswold brash is ok but slippery, descents though woods vary from ok when stony to awful when you hit the fullers earth clay seam. I wouldn’t make a trip here unless you want a muddy slog – go south to quantock…

When my old man was in his late 60s, whilst staying at his house, I saw him wandering naked down a dim corridor at night on the way to the loo, thought he was Gollum, not a nice memory so certainly before then.

We used to put it into horses who were constipated but not anymore as it is a poor intestinal lubricant and didn’t help. Sometimes my chain looks like h*rsesh1t so it may not help either.
