Well I rode Wrynose from the eastern side as per the above posts on Friday after Kirkstone Pass. It was tough but definitely enjoyable. I then rode on and did Hardknott which I thought was marginally easier. Thanks for the info anyway! The descents were pretty sketchy in parts and I hit 50mph pretty quickly!!

What about carrying straight on through Cockley Beck, over Hardknott, then taking a left over Birker Fell, before turning south towards Ulpha and Bank End? Is Birker Fell worth a look too?

    I stand corrected.

I'll be on a compact I reckon so hoping to be fine.
You can get to Wrynose without Hardknott if you approach from the east via Langdale. Part of me wants to ride down Hardknott just to ride back up it while I'm there. Not sure time will allow though!

Excellent. Im excited about it. Riding from Penrith through to Patterdal, over Kirkstone, through ambleside to Wrynose then down to Seathwaite and onto Broughton In Furness. Hoping for decent weather now!

Sounds like that could be it. Whip the cap off the reservoir and have a look u nder the rubber membrane which covers the fluid. Mine is always filled right to the brim, so that when you put the membrane back on, a little bit overflows.

I think if I were to replace my TD5 90, I'd probably go for a 110. Just that bit extra room for bikes.

good checklist that Xan. I got carried away with justifying it for the poster!!

Cranberry. I live in Sunderland at the moment for my sins.
Are you not called cranberry on one of the forums too?
I sold a lightbar to someone in Northallerton a while back – that wasn't you per chance was it?!

I had the land rover itch from the age of 15. It took me until the age of 23 before I had finished uni and could afford to buy one. a 2002 TD5 90. The best decision I have ever made. As has been said already, the depreciation is negligible. Mileage isnt as much of an issue as people say either, as long as there is evidence of regular servicing.
They're also not "awful" to sit in or drive etc. You get used to it. Im 6 foot and have no real issues with leg room.

I've also learnt loads when it comes to repairs and maintenance. Most of the jobs are do-able, with a bit of research (Haynes Book of Lies and the forums on lro.com and lr4x4.com where they have comprehensive tech archives with step by step photographs). Failing that, it wouldnt surprise me if you didnt find someone local on the forum who would come and give you a hand! If youre ever in the NE with a problem, let me know!

Ignore the impracticalities. Theyre unbelievable cars.

My desire does the same, but as soon as I take the phone away from my ear, the screen 'comes back to life'. Apologies if this is no good to you.

user-removed. I doubt I'll be going to Ambleside, but I'd be keen to meet up for a ride in Sunderland at some point if you'd be as kind as to act as a guide!??. Recently moved to the area (Near to Rosedene Pub) and have yet to discover any local loops other than a blast round Penshaw monument?!

Im a firm believer in Lance. He's already proven in numerous tests that his natural physical attributes are typically far greater than the average humans. People hate to see one man dominate any event. And especially such a brash american. Long may he continue I reckon!

Exactly the same for web addresses etc. Many threads on here, but a brilliant bit of kit.

Natwest, by and large, are a bunch on incompetent twa*s anyway.
I applied for a loan and was having an interview with one of the women who work there. She actually asked me how to work out percentage rates and check her sums for her. Unbelievable.

I have this with my Recon Race forks. Assumed it had worn bushings perhaps, but maybe not!?
Mines maybe only 1-2mm travel though. Barely noticeable. Sure it wasnt there originally though.

Better to have tried it and regretted it than regretting not trying it surely?!
The way you describe your current job seems like a waste of your life?!

I wouldn't buy your bearings if they were the last set in the world and it meant I could never ride my bike again because you're an idiot.

Many thanks. I've also got some I could send you if you were interested – you might have them already mind?

EDIT: I can only seem to find two now up Alwinton way. Any good to you?

I dont use any sensors with mine. Ive also not bought the download thing. My last one was a polar and I just used the microphone method (the watch sends out a series of beeps and the mic picks them up) which worked. The new download thing looks good though!! How much is the comparable garmin youre considering?

Solarider – yeah, my post was a little unclear. Ive only ever bled them by pushing the fluid through the caliper using a syringe.

Going to try the zip tie trick. have done it before with the reservioir closed and it worked for a little while. Ive also bled my caliper with the syringe – thats how I usually do it. Useful thread this one!!

Another vote for AyUps. Admittedly not the brightest now but for the package I reckon theyre pretty hard to beat. Shame you have to buy them from OZ now, but apparently customer service is still spot on.

Ive just received an RS300x y'day from heartratemonitor.co.uk. (delivery was within 16 hours of ordering!!) and its exactly what I was after. You can set 3 heart rate zones which was what I needed and it stores the last 16 sessions on the watch for you – in case you cant download them to your computer straight away.

I didnt bother with the foot pod or GPS thingys – not heard great reviews about them.

The watch looks smart enough for everyday wear too. I think theyre at 90 quid delivered on amazon at the moment too.

Ive just rang through to them to try and get a refund on a ticket that was cancelled. Apparently theyre so busy they cant answer my call. Not particularly happy. They havent even emailed me to inform me how to go about processing a refund.
