    One Happy hippy.

Mind me asking who that will be working with? I’ve got a couple of mates working for Coffey (Sp?) out there all based in perth. Nothing but good things coming from them!

Im in the geotech industry, albeit in the offshore environment (predominantly office based atm) based up in Newcastle Upon Tyne. I’ve often looked at the opportunities over in australia, NZ and canada and thought ‘maybe one day’. Not sure the girlfriend would cope with 2 weeks on, 1 off though.

    Best of luck to you!

Definitely a utility vehicle and no good for 70mph plus on the motorway, but I wouldnt swap mine for anything. My driving style has completely changed now, and Im now happy to “pootle” around at 60mph on motorway, with the window down and the music on. Much more sedate pace of life!

Shantaram. Although rumor has it Johnny Depp has already bought the rights to it so could well be in the pipeline!

Cyclelogical in Forest Hall is a saracen dealer. Peter the owner is off at the moment I think after a road bike crash. Worth ringing up and speaking to hsi wife though who is running the shop.

    How’d everyone get on then?
Good day – not entirely what I’d expected but enjoyable and well organised.
2hr 29mins at the end – last climb hurt a lot!
Some of the cobbled climbs reminded me of Belgium!
Will definitely be back next year.

Whilst I can agree whole heartedly with you on a lot of the points you put across, your statement regarding not seeing the problem with jumping red lights makes it incredibly difficult to support you.

It’s the smarmyness of him that boils my P**s. If he ran a red light and got knocked off, he has ruined someone elses day, not just his own. Which is selfish.

I’ll be there solo as well. Last year was bone dry. The dust was a real killer – I was hacking my lungs up for a good week afterwards!
Nice and laid back as well with a good atmosphere out on course. Cant wait.

The offshore industry is probably the best market at the moment. I graduated in 2008 and now work for a predominantly offshore based consultancy (although v.little time is spent offshore). Lots of work on at the moment…

How Hull can be categorised as worse than Middlesbrough, Wolverhampton, Dudley, Sunderland, Leeds or London is beyond me.
I lived there for 18 years so speak from experience.

Lets hope they catch them. Brilliant shop run by top guys. Excellent coffee as well. Kick in the balls for them as it’s not long since they moved to that property.

I’d disagree with it being an awful place. The boardwalk section is there because underneath it is peat, many metres deep. It’s effectively a link section. Plus, the views from that section are incredible. I think they’ve done a good job of creating some decent riding in what is a vast remote area.

Depends on source of hot water I guess. Mine is a combi boiler so turning off water under sink cuts off water to hot tap as well. If its coming from a hot water tank, therell be an isolating valve associated with that. Failing that, you could turn all water entry to the house off via the stopcock located outside the property (The one the water supplier would use).

Thomson stem down to about 39 Euros if I remember rightly at probikeshop.fr

Delivery to the UK was also pretty cheap as well I think.

I remember passing by the ICCU on the way down for CT scans and X rays. Often thanking my lucky stars I wasn’t in there! All the best anyway. You’ll be fighting fit in no time.

Humbling read. Couldnt help but notice you were donating to a place based in Sunderland? Are you local to them?
Im just back from a week stay in Sunderland General with a broken hip (im only bloody 25!) Only 6 weeks off the bike for me now and it feels an age. Anyway, I’ll see you at Cyclone.
    All the best!

Im currently recovering from a broken hip and bought some in the hope of reducing associated muscle soreness. They’ve been a total revelation in that department and I’m sure they speeded up my recovery to the being able to walk stage. Worth every penny for me!!

Benefit of having tiles over it are that when you turn it off, it stays warm for days. (Ours seems to anyway…)
