getting onto a packed train and asking people to move along to make room

Pissing hell you must be the living embodiment of Satans spawn. Don’t you know you’re supposed to just barge your way through to the empty part of the carriage.

if you drive like a grandad and aren’t using the capabilities of a grippier tyre, there’s no reason to buy them.

Apart from being able to drive along an uphill dirt track, slightly snowy Chilterns hill, better straight line braking in the wet, nope no reason at all….

Mixing on one axle is a bad idea, front/back not so much. I assume it’s FWD, and you’re putting the all season tyres on the front. Unless you’re driving like a hoon, I don’t see a problem.

I agree – Had new all seasons on the front & part worn summers on the rear for 2yrs before replacing them all a couple of months back, in sunny bucks & front wheel drive, figured I’d rather be able to steer my self out of a head on collision and take a side impact in the worst case and/or drive through a bit of slush if necessary but truth be told I drive like a grandad, it doesn’t snow down south & I avoid driving totally in ice & snow anyway (work from home & train station 5min walk away).

Edit – garage I bought the car from put the all seasons on the front.

Don’t allow an adult step child & their boyfriend to live in your home if they can’t be arsed to help around the house at all.

And breath. I think more walking/bike riding might be in order for me.

My experience with a friends dog, was that it absolutely hated me if I turned up on a bike – turned out it was the helmet that upset her & sunglasses didn’t help either. So try looking a little more human sans helmet & glasses it may well help.

For millennia it was organised religion.

Came on here to say much the same.

Wasn’t sure at first, seemed to be losing too much time in life with family & kids for the sake of not looking accessible, but the finished article was just great  thumbs up emoji

Cameron is an absolute idiot for giving us an advisory referendum instead of a legally binding one with a 60/40 cut instead of a narrow “victory” which incidentally also allowed the leave campaign to break rules with no comeback – but Johnson is just a lying self serving shit – both elevated above their innate abilities by their upper class backgrounds.

Went to see it on Sunday with MrsDb, great acting, great cinema, great filming but as a film to go & see very disappointing spent the whole time waiting for something to happen, just didn’t stack up as a film. PS – we’re not fans of marvel comic genre films either, loved the first one though.

Done it a few times after European trips, usually a case of me thinking “what’s that **** doing on the wrong side of the road” before realising I was the **** in question.

I once managed to drive through a pedestrian underpass in Bracknell, only realising why I was getting such strange looks when I got to the other end & there was only the option to drive across a park or onto a path – chose the shameful drive across the park to the nearest visible bit of actual road.

Last mortgage I got was through a broker that ended up a complete waste of their & my time, as there was slightly special circumstances (only reason I went with a broker) turns out the mortgage they selected wouldn’t cover those circumstances anyway… guess I just got a crap broker.

It would be interesting to hear from an insurers perspective, when there is ( potentially) deliberate damage to a vehicle.

My dad wrecked his car driving through a flood, he’d previously leant a car to a friend who crashed that as well – 2 X total losses in a short space of time equalled refusal to insure for a while, but he got another friend to put him on their insurance untill those losses became historic.

I’m for the idea and if it doesn’t pass before I’ve decided I’ve had enough (spms) then Its easy enough for me to get my hands on enough heroin to finish me off at a time and place of my choosing

My sil had ms & had got to the point where she still had the use of one arm, but otherwise incapable, but because you have to administer your own drugs at dignitas she had to leave us whilst she still had that capability which was sometime before she really wanted to ? she just didn’t want to end up without ability to move at all but with ms she didn’t know when that time would come. Thankfully although my brother, nephew & myself broke the law, the police were very good about it & the CPS see no public good in dragging anyone through the courts so at least one side of the law sees sense, sadly though not that many have the money or bravery to go to dignitas & as Esther Rantzen alluded to she is scared that her family would be prosecuted if they accompany her to dignitas when the time comes.

I think the e-bike thing is out of the bag now basically because just the word “bike” is conflated between both motorcycle & bicycle anyway.

If I tell someone that I got there by “bike” they’d have no clue if that was by pedal or motor, unless I was suitably attired or expanded to bicycle or motorbike.

I’m kind of against the idea. Makes it too easy to slip in other laws or changes to it once its on the books.

I’m kind of for the idea. Would have made it far less traumatic to have taken my sister in law to dignitas via the airport without the need to be interviewed by the police under caution afterwards.

Both my fil & next door neighbours mother effectively died of starvation/dehydration in hospital over a few days, both lives ended horribly for all those involved, a few days less suffering with a lethal injection would have been far more humane.

I think a lot of the questions / requirements are solicitor driven, especially when cheaper remote solicitors are involved, the first buyers of my friends house came up with a right load of twaddle & my solicitors had to remind them on a few occasions that being a sale of a deceased person’s estate there was no guarantees in any event.

Okey doke. I think ours was more fun.

Question is would you prefer to see an stw or pensioners rendition of Electric Ladyland?

Related question: Do people actually pay to get their boiler serviced yearly?

In my last house, got new boiler fitted & never got it serviced for 10yrs, no problems at all, just got new boiler fitted here & will get it serviced to maintain guarantee but only because I’m trying to sell the place – it is something purchasing solicitors will ask though.

Buyers can ask, you can either comply or not. Sold a friend’s house after he passed away, buyer wanted service history of boiler (no idea & very old boiler) & guarantee that burglar alarm worked (didn’t even know the code) – all this was made clear to the buyer when they viewed the property and negotiated the price, so got told to jog on.

I’ve used the QR code on a pickup before while still exchanging cash.

So have I both selling & buying, but that text is from their latest free selling announcement & suggests to me that cash will no longer be an option – I’d like to be proved wrong but….

Just seen the notification from eBay, think this suggests that cash on collection will no longer be possible?

We’re making selling locally easier and safer with our improved collection option. When you list an item, you can choose to offer local collection, delivery, or both. If you sell your item locally, use the chat feature to discuss with your buyer and arrange the collection. When your buyer comes to pick up the item, quickly confirm the collection using a unique QR or six-digit code. With no physical cash payments, your money will be kept safe and you’ll be sure to get paid quickly.

So presumably eBay will still be charging transaction fees & holding on to your money until you request it..

People been coming round viewing the house (Fri, sat & today) so notched the stat up to 20C to keep them from thinking they were looking at buying an oversized refrigerator.

If you check mot history of a vehicle it’ll give you the full history irrespective of any plate changes, so any perceived overlaps are not relevant.

Ditto, also looking as need to spruce up our house to sell & think this would make the most dramatic change. Anyone any experience of Todd doors?

Be interested to know how they’d bring in road pricing/pay by mile as I’m pretty sure odometers* are even more easily tricked than they used to be & to tax after the event would be tricky.

If weight was a factor of ved then my motorbikes should be weigh cheaper per annum…

    * Dodgy sensor means one of my bikes speedo & odometer rarely works.

They don’t want to be tax payer funded and a political pawn so choose not to go down that route.

RNLI are a very well funded charity, which is probably their biggest reason for not wanting to be tax payer funded. For which you can hardly blame them.

I know of a couple of lads that did it on BMXs! Can’t even sit down on them!

My brother did the Kidderminster killer (200km + audax) on a BMX many years ago, he put a massive long seat post on it & also mudguards to comply with audax rules :-)

Seems there is a lot of chastising of the previous generations of parenting on here, was chatting with friends at the weekend and it’s remarkable what people have been through in previous generations – one was the daughter of Vietnamese boat people & my own grand father was at Gallipoli, subsequently becoming an alcoholic & leaving the family home when my dad was about 8, who himself was evacuated away from any family from age 11 to 17 – expecting him to be a perfect parent after all that baggage was never going to happen.

I don’t think it’s possible to be a perfect parent but we can but try to be our best – parent to 5 kids aged 23 to 35.

Mentioned it on another thread but police auctions selling presumably confiscated Surrons doesn’t exactly seem cost/time effective…. Drove up to Hackney on Monday night – the amount of illegal electric bikes is of epic proportions. I have to prove to my employer that I have the correct business use insurance on my car & motorbike, would be good if deliveroo exercised the same cautions.

Don’t know if we or any of our customers have been hit & probably won’t know for a while, don’t remember working on any of their sites recently but they weren’t an organisation that I would ever feel the need to go the extra mile for….

Of all the things to worry about, I think you can take this one off your list. Young children are pretty resilient little things.

Very much this, lost my mum when my boys were 5, 8 & 10 and having  been a single dad she’d been quite involved in their little lives. Certainly hasn’t done them any lasting harm, despite me not paying any particular attention to their well being at the time.

You’ll have to “buy it now” to be able to get their contact details anyway with eBay, then if you dig around a bit it will let you pay cash on collection but it’s hard to avoid fees these days & if you do you’ll have zero protection.

More storms forecast down there today. If you see some soggy and disappointed looking Ilkeston Cycle Club riders on their away day to Chipping Norton, give them a cheer!

Will do, but it will almost certainly be from a bedraggled motorcyclist plotting my least wet route from Gower to Aylesbury.
