I miss them as well…I seem to go through packets of them at a fantastic rate!

If it is in a 20mph zone then you might be unlucky and the finish isn’t now that close!

Surely give it a quick spray with snow foam and then just turn the hose on it and all those gaps get cleaned without too much hassle.

I’m impressed to see the chain guide is ziptied round the whole stay and not going through the hole in the frame – assuming that puts less stress on the ziptie so it won’t snap so quickly?

Assuming it is very heavy as the frame would be very flexible given the amount of gaps…reminding me of a Kirk Revolution frame for some reason!

Haven’t watched the trailer…I sometimes used to watch Top Gear, but it was never a sit down and watch intentionally. I’m happy to take or leave the 3 of them together…I find Hammond and May good tv presenters on their own.

I’ll watch this but won’t really miss it…it is just a bit of daft humour entertainment rathe than anything else…

Watched the trailer now…yeah, I’ll watch it at some point, but I’m not sure I’ll be missing it particularly, it is just another bit of humour on the tv.

Saying that, I’d absolutely love to go on some adventures like that with a couple of mates…that aspect of it, I’m very jealous of, but aware it is almost all scripted.

Glad to see someone is taking the need for on-bike storage seriously…I reckon the Pontipines will be looking to holiday there!!!

It isn’t infrequent charging though…it is more efficient power use…and it has ways of alerting you so it isn’t even guesswork.

Mech goes from a green led to red – needs charged. If you have the app installed, it also reports when charging is needed. If you connect axs to your bike computer that will also tell you. If you buy it, you aren’t likely to forget to charge it after the first time you forget.

Plenty of ways and it takes no time at all to plug it in and charge.

We do this with so many other things that it is a non-starter as a negative.

Genuinely stuck to see why the battery charging is such an issue – it gets done every few weeks and is the same kind of effort as plugging a bike computer in to charge up – which many people have and do. Those that don’t are likely to have a mobile phone that will need recharged more often than the axs battery…plugging stuff in to recharge is an incredibly common thing nowadays, so this new bit of tech really is no different.

Di2 isn’t wireless, is it? Less tech needed so likely to be cheaper. Wireless is fantastic but an wired solution should still be a more consistent shift than a mechanical solution as well.

Depends on how it is transported – if nothing else next to bike then likely zero issues, if you squeeze the bike in with everything else then there is a chance the bike or other stuff shifts and the controller button is pressed.
Happened to me once as I hadn’t realised the bike had shifted.
I’m 5 years in on my X01 rear mech and it has been brilliant…new jockey wheels but everything is still tight and working as expected, a few scrapes but still shifting like new. 5 years isn’t long, but it is a reasonable start!

Agreed, @tjagain, but you are now looking at the individual parts, so have gone from high level overview to a more in-depth look at each part solution. As said, there is no cable, so at a very high level you have replaced 3 required parts with just 2 required parts…which is definitely simpler. Once you zoom into each part, it isn’t.

It really does though – as an actual principle – you remove a part from the required parts list – shifter, cable and mech becomes just shifter and cable.

As an absolutely basic KISS piece, it does do this. If you then look into each part, it probably doesn’t, but the overall piece it really does. 3 required bits down to 2 – if the piece is how many parts are needed to move the chain on my bike on the cassette. If the queation is any more detailed than that then I reckon you are right.

My only real issue with AXS is the cost – there is a lot of technology and bits in there and they do cost money, but the price to the consumer is huge. The price of AXS is high (although it does tend to last well) and is a definite barrier. However, maybe that is good as I’m not sure how much of it is recycleable when it does finally fail.

Like everything ‘new’ plenty people won’t be keen on the idea of having to recharge a battery every 4-7 weeks – many seem to manage to plug their phone in to recharge every night, but this seems a whole new level of inconvenience. If you are even slightly curious I’d suggest you try it and see how you get on with it.

The new T-Type isn’t something I’ve got and to be honest, I don’t think I’d be keen on it – I like the rapid gear change and I rarely do more than 2 shifts at a time and I don’t tend to do it under load…so the advantages of T-Type aren’t as good for me, but non-T-Type is utterly brilliant for my use, just wish it was cheaper. I’ve not managed to write-off a rear mech since I went to AXS, which I’m thankful for as it is going to sting massively if that does happen.

Have to say…no matter how many my rear end has been, the shifting is precise ever single time. I’ve not had that on a cable system…not an every day occurrence, but the fact it never needs tweaking is brilliant.

…and become more of an annoyance as the motor cuts out sooner so more effort is required to go fast…

Ebikes are great, but there have been several threads about making the cut out a higher speed so I suspect a lot of people will just dismiss the idea knowing the cut out is now lower.

I don’t mind ebikes – they all passed me going several times faster than I was going all weekend, so it isn’t going to make any odds to me!

Hahahaha…welcome to my world! I coach kids and they seem to really take to my coaching and suggestions. Can I get myself to do the same? Absolutely not…utterly infuriating.

What was the other group that did this in his previous campaign and ego trip? They managed to get a swathe of their team into positions of power and have been creaming off money and power ever since…seems to be the same situation just less subtle!

It will be flat, but it will also be curved as it sits on a planet that is curved and gravity will be pulling down on it equally across the whole surface. So at each point you are standing (or floating), you will be at the highest point of the curve that you are looking at as the planet curves away from you in all directions.

Could it have been sailed all the way down and then a much shorter effort over land? That seems the sensible method and I’m assuming was done.

Unsure if it is related, but I’m not able to see the article that Hannah posted up about talking to the older riders before the party is over…I click the link to see the article and it tells me I need to join as it is members-only…I’m pretty sure I’m paid-up as it is an annual payment and was made about 6 weeks ago.

Looks like I’ve got the issue now as well – can’t see anything other than suggesting I join…pretty sure I’m a paid-up member, so I’m assuming there is a technical hiccup going on.

@findusomally, for the Garmin discount to work, you need to be logged out of Garmin before browsing and purchasing. You then get an order number for the order, log back into Garmin and go to your account and orders and you can add the order to your account.
Seems to be an issue with the Garmin site and a discount code when you are logged in.

It is bloody brilliant to see…always makes me smile.
Coaching is restarting next week so I’m hoping to see all the kids showing improvements.
I’m not long back in from a MTB cluster session – the kids there are way fitter and faster than me, but the enthusiasm they are showing to improve is amazing – sponges desperate to get feedback and tips to improve.

Biggest issue I see is the parents don’t have the same enthusiasm and don’t have the knowledge of where to take their kids. I think the next nut to crack is helping the parents get an idea of where they can take their kids…I think even more kids would ride more with that knowledge for the parents.

Has Enduro just got too big? Tweedlove used to be all grassroots and just come along and ride with your mates and socialise, but then it started attracting the Pros and things started to change. I suspect as the Pros moved in the courses became more challenging (I’ve only ever done 1 Enduro and it was the Tweedlove Funduro, so not something I’m basing cold hard facts on), and may have put off the grassroots riders, so numbers go down – as said, this isn’t based on evidence, just my thoughts on it – this might be a millions miles away, but reading other comments on this thread, I think it isn’t too far off.

I’d hope every event is a great success, but that proves much harder when the pool of potential entrants is reduced. It is a really difficult balance to put on a course that satisfies everyone that also doesn’t put everyone off.

Pandemic has also changed how people spend their time…far fewer people keen to be mingling with loads of people (although music festivals seems to be surviving well)…

Unsure why only the first sentence posted, but there were 4 paragraphs of stuff and I didn’t copy it and not retyping it…

Make it as awkward as possible to get in externally and internally and make it difficult to see in, cover the stuff in old dust sheets to help hide what there is.

Yesterday morning…drove into work with thunder going off above me, was wet and a few lightning sparks.
Got to the office and the security guy at the gate is standing on his own waving his tablet about – almost like a rain dance. Shouldn’t be a real issue but he is about 6’4″ and was the tallest object around for about 100 yards. Anyway, got past him and just as I parked, the whole sky lit up and a massive thunder clap. Both felt right over the top of me.

Cleared at about 12 noon and was a roaster for the rest of the day!

I can’t select any message…only shows me the latest one…and it won’t delete either.
I don’t tend to use it so not a massive issue but I probably should try and tidy it up (delete them all)…

I think I’m a bit odd when it comes to this kind of thing. I think I’d love to see the spectacle and watch the best of the best giving it their best…but the getting there and the queues whilst getting to and from and all the hassle puts me right off.
I used to go to Fort William to watch the DH and after the second year I wasn’t enjoying it as the hassle to get there and back and then trying to find a decent spot amongst everyone else – I stopped going after the 5th one (went up with mates and they were a laugh but getting to and from the event just killed me).
I seem to be like that with everything these days, so suspect I’d spontaneously combust if I went to the Olympics where it will be even busier.
I think I’d need to be stinking rich and then use my wealth to get there and get a viewing spot that meant I wasn’t stressing about everything else – but that also feels very wrong.
    The atmosphere must be amazing!
Saying all that, your idea sounds excellent as an adventure, so absolutely go for it and make it happen!

Local food van used to cook Lorne sausages and then leave them sitting in a tray of Bovril, most folk wouldn’t take a freshly cooked Lorne but wanted one that had been soaking in the hot Bovril liquid for at least a half hour.
    It was amazingly tasty…
