Giant has BB86 bottom bracket which is what that Chris King fits, 24mm spindle on your Shimano cranks so yes good to go.

Yep as above, buy a map in the RVV for a few euros will provide enough to keep everyone happy with route distances.

Might do! Will give that a try, cheers

Hmmm, so the bolt sits too deep into the “nut” to let the shimano tool in. Its a round hole trying to fit a flat shaped bit on the tool. The recess in the nut isn’t deep enough for a coin/screwdriver to get enough purchase…….

Thanks for the link, I appear to have one in my tool box. I now know what it is for!!!!

On the subject of evacuating on the side of the fire and the turning the aircraft to blow the fire away, note that ATC didn’t say the surface wind again. Not a critisicm, having had the odd emergency in ATC myself I can understand forgetting that.

Also echo dantsw13, going off the paved surface isn’t a great move to make IMO as it causes far more issues than those you are already dealing with.

On my second stages, not by choice. First went back after 18 months when it was eating batteries and looked to have cracked the unit which doesn’t appear uncommon.

Have purchased a Rotor INPower (from Germany, thanks to the weak euro) for the TT bike. So far, only fitted a week ago and ridden twice, it seems a good product. But then again stages did for a few weeks… Interestingly Rotor have put a fair amount of grease on the battery door, perhaps worried about water ingress????

[quoteAnyone been in the situation of having to rebuild the rear mech as a result of a fall perhaps. How/spendy/difficult?[/quote]

I think with the motors etc it would be a struggle. They are fairly robust, I had a fall on cobbles in Belgium and landed on the drive side. Bent rear mech hangar in the crash, but only had a scuff on the rear mech itself and it has worked fine in the following 15 months since the crash.

Have ran Di2 (original Ultegra version then current Dura Ace version) for 3 years. Bikes ridden in all weathers, including the deluge of last years Ride London. No problems with it at all. It just works. I wouldn’t hesitate using it on any bike.

German shops have some good deals on zipp discs at the moment due to the euro being a bit weak. Picked up a zipp 900 for £820 a few weeks ago from bike24

Use one on a Specialized frame (so essentially the same but just a different original BB) and it works perfectly. if it gets very wet take it out, dry it, regrease and you are fine. Has never creaked since I had it fitted almost 2 years ago.

Yep do the crvv visit and there are at least 5 well signposted routes that set off from there, take in the main famous climbs.

For the “0 should be the limit” argument it simply can’t be. The body naturally produces alchol and therefore a 0 limit could potentially see everyone banned even if they were teetotal. My job has a blood alcohol limit of 25% of the drink drive limit purely for that reason. Which basically equates to have any alcoholic drink and you are over that lower limit.

Our medical department give the advice of 1 unit per hour for the body to get rid of, this starting from when finish drinking and provided it has not been a lot of drinks.

I run an SL4 frame (roubaix) and hollowtech cranks.

    I looked at the options when I was specing it up and they are as follows;

1- use the adapter cups that came with the frame to widen out the BB area to allow the fitting of a hollowtech crank. This was what I started with (unintentionally, more of which in a bit) and it creaked straight out of the box. It was removed and re-fitted but the creak never went away.

2- Praxis works. Silent running unless you go BB deep in water, then you will need to pull it out of the frame and re-grease it and all is good again. I now use this option and have been very pleased with it.

I should have had praxis works from day 1 but the LBS didn’t put the praxis BB with the parts when they were building the bike up…. so I used the spesh solution. But my experience of the cups does seem normal when you look into it. The praxis kit isn’t cheap but it does seem to offer an excellent solution, and their customer service dept is excellent if you have any questions.

Kryton57, could well do as I was only looking local to the route. As long as it avoids me I’m not bothered!!

Having just ran through the local forecasts the worst of the rain (rated as heavy) appears to be on the southern part of the loop between 0400-0700. Nearer the start it is rated as light showers/moderate rain.

Between 1000-1300 there is a risk of thunderstorms again on the southern part of the loop, mist likely when most will hit the climbs, but the rain at these times is actually limited to less than 1cm over the 3 hour window.

The return to London looks like showers.

Winds do switch round about 0900 onwards from a South Easterly direction to a stronger South Westerly wind, but that will help the final stint!

It looks like they now anticipate the bulk of the storm to be south of the projected tracks that were available yesterday, which is a good thing.

As an addition to the above, you know when someone overtakes you in too high a gear and you hear the engine strain at low revs – how do you know the person you are waving through will actually overtake in a swift manner? They might dawdle and the gap that was safe to overtake no longer is, but they are along side you now.

I will thank for a wait and overtake, I will also give a rubbish overtake a thumbs up – I don’t think aggression towards an impatient driver will help much.

On the sizing front the gabba fits like the castelli aero jersey, so slightly tighter than their “normal” fit.

Did look at that but worried about the max temp recommendation of 200 deg C for the stove top. Seems a bit low compared to what temps the flue gets to

And a quick view of the fixtures over the next weeks/months, the only games likely to go to general are Hull (4th Dec), Fulham (18th Jan). Marseille might, but it’s midweek and not easy to get home early for work the next day.

Southampton, Everton are already sold out (ticket exchange in operation and you must be a member to use this). Chelsea is yet to drop to the lower level of membership but will sell out.

    hi,

season ticket holder here (and former red member, the basic membership level). Unless a game goes to general sale then yes you have to be a member (for a fee) to obtain tickets. Even then you have to register with the system operated by ticket master to buy tickets. Some games, the ones the club expect to struggle to sell, will become “friends and family games” allow members to purchase more than one ticket – normally a membership only allows the purchase of one ticket. However as we are doing a bit better this year ticket demand has gone up slightly.

It is a massively closed shop and purely to make money, Arsenal are not the only club that does this before anyone starts.

There is a kids membership (junior gunners) but not having kids or not being a BBC DJ from the 70s I haven’t looked into it, but it “might” be cheaper to join that for the kids.

If you fire me an email dha.forward@gmail.com I can look at what games are friends and family in the coming months

If you get the DA cranks you will need to use the specialized expansion cups to widen the BB area. They WILL creak. I went for the praxis works BB conversion kit on my roubaix to fit my DA cranks (same BB as the tarmac) result is no creaking.

Cleared the concorde for take-off from Heathrow on the first test flight after the modifications following the crash in Paris.

Cleared G-BOAD for take-off on it’s final flight to New York before it was installed on Intrepid.

Was also the last controller at Heathrow to instruct a concorde to fly a missed approach.

Sadly never flew on it 🙁

You can order the 2014 models from today, my LBS took a deposit and hopefully have placed the order with Specialized. The website is rubbish but the LBS’s have a catalogue with details of all the bikes.

It’s a decent spec (Full XT 1×10 with hope hoops) 2 years old. Have an idea on prices having looked around, it’s more of what will sell quicker. Can use the parts that I take off it so not desperate to sell them. Frame and forks are they likely to go quickly priced right?
