thanks for the replies guys. didn’t know that about merlin…sneaky. no mention of that on their www.

So to shorten the cables just unplug unscrew them from the brake, remove some wee bit (i’m assuming), chop, screw back in?

    596’s pretty good though yeah?

Would the inbred or scandal make a good bike-packing machine? Quite fancy that but with a full sys seems overkill, but I’m not sure what factors make s bike suitable for some bike packing etc

I’m wanting to replace my (to be fair nothing wrong it but I fancy a change) 2009 kona dawg with something similar but from a 2011 or newer vintage. Just need a frame and have £500 to spend so if anyone has anything that might fit in their garage let me know…

Jesus you’d think Area 51 is up there or something.

Voodoo is behind reservoir not on the moor side
Douglaston is from entrance to fairways off auchemhowie to the virgin gym
Carglas is the woods across the road from the visitor centre

druidh – if you have any GPS logs of your adventures I can only think publishing on your blog would be a good thing? Depending on how much work it is I guess. Always nice to be able to pull them into google maps for example for a quick flyby…

The route gurus here should knock up a kindle version for £5 all proceeds to charity . Bosh. Job done. Contribute 2 or 3 routes each. I would buy it for sure.

    Hi Hunta

I had the same idea as you, and we appear to be similarly hamfisted. Anyway, i managed it and the bike does appear to work ok. well the wheels go round at least.

I took some pictures and documented part of it on my mates blog, but i do recommend you dont go with my instructions and buy a proper book

    build you own guide
