i should add i find it all very odd/confusing that trek and specialized dont really have any 650bs, and they must be a couple of biggest manufacturers out there.

gixerator – no i havent demod it yet, or any other of the “new” sizes. i hope to do so over the xmas holidays. you are quite right, that is a lot of cash just to splurge without trying some first. i was just after the hive mind’s opinion, which have been quite helpful.

    thanks all.

all this 650b/29er stuff is a right pain in the bumhole to be honest, must be making some folk delay a new purchase i think.

ive got a 350L one i think (takes half of roof up), leaving 1/2 for bike rail things.

just back from center parcs for 5 days – took 2 bikes and clothes for me and the missus and 2 kids. we chuck clothes in binbags and cram them into the roofbox, dont bother with the wee lock too much i just strap them down with those tie/webbing type things you can get. got it all in a 5 door hatchback golf, inc a push chair, selection of balls etc.

same as irv in think above.

Ain’t been for years and was v wet unsure if its been worked on . I know there is the pipetrack from dumgoyne to strathblane north of main road but wondering about the old railway line specifically.

Used to enjoy lowe alpine clothes- only seem to see rucksacs from them in the shops near me these days though.

I’m liking stuff from mountain equipment and paramo these days.

I seem to receive TNF kit for pressies though, have to say not liking their fleece and goretex trainers much.

if an app comes along that allows local streaming from your nas to it for all those “home movies” – it should be a no-brainer.

rumors that plex team are looking at it.

I got a 2nd hand one from gum tree. Bargain less that half price.

I have the Thule aeros and the box I have fits fine – exodus – think its halfords own brand.

For that sort of stuff I think 2nd hand is worth investigating. Just a big box in the end, not much to go wrong.

Have you added yourself in as an attendee?

We used to have a similar setup, and if you wanted to book a meeting with the “manager” you would invite the manager and yourself.

i’d suggest cairngorms natioal park and/or west coast islands if you have time.

if you hurry up you might catch some sun.

Fish ladder/dam at Pitlochry? There used to be a wee fairground at pitlochry too, not sure if its still on the go.

There is a deer park near Aberfeldy – mind you last time i was there they didn’t have any deer on show they were pregnant.

Tisos soft play is ok, but its pricey if you are just going for 20mins to have a coffee.

My Wife doesn’t have any problem with me going out once the beggars have been put down after 7. So evening rides for me. We have 6 months and a 3 year old, the only light I can give you and you’ll know this is that once they get a bit older things become easier. I’ve also traded with her sometimes she can have a Saturday etc to herself and I’ll look after the kids, then I get the next sat to myself etc.

It must have some sort of video out surely, dvi perhaps?

I think win8 is good, but if you don’t like it you can get start8 for £5 to get the old start menu back a la win7.

I haven’t used DVD drive for ages , we have a USB DVD drive in the office we share if we need to access discs.

I’d always look for more ram over CPU grunt tbh, unless you do a lot of video/photoshop etc

If you can afford, SSD drive is v good

with aws or azure windows virtual server(s) you can rdp to them just the same as normal physical servers, and you can install whatever apps you want.
