I currently have a wee exposure joystick, which knocks out a piddly 200 lums.

I fancy one of those big boys at 900 though, as I do like to win a “who’s got the biggest cock” contest over my mates, so to speak of course…

So I assume best to have the most power on the bars, and then the wee joystick on the helmet?

Alex – thanks for that. Why didn’t I think of that…. ohhh dear. long day.

So, please excuse my ignorance here, with mounting the big daddy 900 lumen sucker on your helmet, where do you put the battert/cable to the lamp?

I assume the battery is strapped onto the bike and somehow you make the cable not interfere with your arms etc… Do you put it on the seatpost or something?

durrrr.

TJ – I assume you mount it to the helmet with a couple of these?

Yeah its great news. Too often these types of stories end in disaster.

Still, i wouldnt like to be the last man getting pulled out, having to wait down there on yer todd would be a bit scary.

had a good ride down there a month ago.

Great wee trails, sadly overshadowed by the pesky 7 stains for some reason, but I think it is well worth a visit.

If i had 3 or 4 days away from the family and wife etc., I would certainly not choose to do the WHW.

Pack your tent, perhaps a couple of days in the pitlochry area then head up to cairngorm would get my vote.

The section beside loch lomond is nasty….

I will be down on Saturday myself, hope for good weather!

dont know if it is in the book or not.

There is fair wee chunk of ST, heading north out of bravel is fireroad then turns to ST over to loch venechar. Good bit of down from the picnic bench to the loch but you need to keep your eyes peeled to notice it.

Along the lochside it is singleish…. :-)

Once you climb up to head back to DML area it is all fireroad, thats why I was hoping to include craigmore.

Cheers

only know that there are 2 of them near the david marshall, specifically for MTB.

I think one was technical and another downhill? Quite short but a nice difference from the normal fireroad. If you found one, I think the other is close by. There are a few wee other bits of ST, but i’ve never really found much more than a couple of minutes worth.

There is nice route over menteith hills quite close to the DML, I have a memory map of it somewhere if you want it?

Good ride, always thought somebody should install a wee cafe at the loch awe side for a half-way round cup of tea.

Bit differnet from the normal batter down whistler movies (and why do the have such bloody crap music over them?)

Anyway that divide race is pretty impressive stuff.

Guy that won it rides a 29er as well…

choices choices…

Do folk generally prefer to have a light on the bars and one on the helmets as well? I currently have a single light on the bars, but cant make up my mind whether to double that up with a unit like cookeaa has suggested, or get a helmet mounted one..

VPN wont cost anything if the routers already support the function, which most do.

For backups you can use something like mozy

really depends if you buy into the whole cloud based stuff etc..

dh

You want a site to site VPN between both the offices, that way people from each office could connect in theory to \\office1\sharedocs and also \\office2\sharedocs.

With a bit of luck the routers you have already for the internet connections at both ends will probably support that, so all it is is a matter of setting it up. Sometimes it is easier to make the routers the same make and model at both ends though.

Once you have that, you can use various flavours of sync software to copy the documents from the office1 server to office2 and vice versa for DR purposes.

Assuming it is new and windows 7….

Control Panel >

Appearance and Personalization >

Display > Screen Resolution

You should have a play in there, probably want to change the orientation or the resolution by the sounds of things.

I think MBR magazine did an article on biking up there a few issues back, might be worth checking out the back issues.

If i remember i'll have a check over the weekend.

Dont know about the first aid, but i'd recommend the flume trail in south lake tahoe, or northstar for that bike park experience. Also mammoth is cool, but a bit far off the beaten path. Natural hot springs a nice touch….

ive stayed at 2:

peebles hydro do MTBers rate for £50
hydro

tontine is around the same price £50
tontine

tontine is right in the centre of peebles, so handy if you want to hit the pubs straight away and has a nice wee bar in it.

hydro is a bit more family orientated, not such a great bar, but does have good facilites like swimming pool, snooker etc etc. great breakfast too.

Id stay at both again, and they do single rooms etc.
