This is all new to me, I don’t have a turbo but this looks like great fun and could satisfy my inner geek.

Can anyone tell me what the cheapest smart trainer is that would meet the requirements?

the “big” lights that folk have with the battery pack and such – if you want to mount on the helmet do you just run the cable into your camelback or similar? does it get in the way?

as i’ve just spend an hour buggering about with 2 x halford own brands ones, and 1 thule (thule took 5mins) i’d say deffo yes.

However, i have also had halford own brand ones before that were just OEM thule, so if you can get them then that is the ideal answer.

    gumtree is your friend tbh.

file export > select your mailbox and then create a pst file? then re-import into new mail client (assuming it imports pst of course)

as this explains it better fire at will

captainslow – depending on the load balancer config, that will normally terminate the ssl connection first then start the connection to the next destination, using its implementation of ssl (perhaps it is openssl or not), sometimes offloading the calculations to dedicated hardware cards.

e.g. my citrix load balancers run openssl, but dont run the affected versions (slightly older) so its all a-ok for me.

Where are all the open-source zealots today? 8O

oh if you have cisco read this: cisco

I’ve got that very model and its very good.

I think to be honest I’d get off gumtree or eBay etc as they are the type of thing that is probably bought a lot and hardly used.

yeah mondeo does look boring, passat i dont think is quite such good value. although there is a new mondeo out next year, so maybe prices will fall on the current model.

op – i’m looking for the same as you soon – is there a reason the mondeo isn’t on your list?

some good deals 1yr old with all the toys <20k. Estate car of the year 2013 according to what car, and surely cheap(ish?) parts etc.

    sorry, i mis-read.

intune is good, you get enterprise edition of windows, so would deal with your pesky home editions easily enough, and you can deploy software from the cloud, yadda yadda.

not sure i’d bother with micrsoft’s AV though, the days of either the free or paid for ones being any good seem over judging by recent tests.

its a pain in the arse that innit. i suppose to be fair to them they must look at the numbers of folk running free and never upgrading and just think we’ll f’em.

think i’d do the same tbh.

If your not going to pay for logmein, your hardly going to pay for sccm or intune. sccm over poor links without a local server isn’t too good, and home edition puts you firmly in the non-enterprise arena.

i’d keep looking at logmein, that can do windows updates and can also run scripts. shame they’ve just cut the free edition.

psexec is a firewall/security disaster if not on private links.

can they run flash on websites etc? thinking on one for my daughter but all those wee cbeebies/peppa pig etc websites use flash a lot iirc.

if your using vmware workstation – you can just setup a shared folder on the vm in question to your portable drive on your laptop. copy the files off to it via a batch file or whatever unixy type script you may need.

so, for example your f: usb portable drive can show up inside the vm as z:. “copy c:\imporantsecretfiles\ z:\vm1\” . bosh.

i’d just lump apps and windows on the one drive. vms on the other for performance. presumably disk space isnt an issue. SSD ftw.

VC – virtual center server. the expensive vmware.

I split mine between one partition for windows and apps, and a separate partition for my vms. seemed a logical idea at the time, but really there isn’t much benefit in reality.

If you are into your disk encryption software then you might want to think it through a bit more. i use bitlocker and its fine for my needs. it does of course make it impossible to recover any data from a boot cd, but that’s the whole point.

i put my normal workfiles/documents to skydrive folder, and for any data in the vms, id just install a normal backup agent, as for the most part, the data contained within them is tiny compared to the actual vms size (os etc.). or setup a wee batch file to copy them off to a nas.

if your using vmware workstation, you can just drag and drop your vms to a fully fledged VC which could act as a sort of backup i guess.
