Did an out and back from Bonawe a couple of weeks ago. Turned back just after Barrs lodge. Top end of the track was a bit wet and Bonawe quarry was a total mud pit. Planning another trip once it dries up a bit but looking at coming from Glen Creran over Glen Ure (down to Invercharnan) and then back down the loch side to Bonawe.

No scheduled boat that I know of. Might be worth contacting Etive cruises to see if you could ‘persuade’ him

    Contact: Donald P. Kennedy

    Email: lochetive@aol.com
BOOKING NECESSARY CALL 07721732703 WORKING HOURS AND 01866 822430 EVENINGS.

Failing that it’s only about 15miles by road and pretty flat.

Other hotels to consider include the Caledonian (bang in the middle of town next to the buses, train, ferries and taxis) and the Oban Bay (a bit further out along the Esplanade but with a cracking view over the bay).
Things to do that don’t require a car – many of which have been said so sorry if I’m repeating – day trip to Mull (and then either Iona or Tobermory), small boat trips to see the seals, open top bus tour, war and peace museum, for the stately home thing try Dunollie House (short taxi trip probably required), cinema (if it re-opens in time), Scottish show in Skippnish Ceilidh house or there maybe something on in the Corran Halls depending on which weekend you’re up here.

you can undercut the panels using a std fine tooth saw 20″ handsaw.
Remove the plinths and fix a couple of offcuts of laminate or similar thickness ply to the floor either side of the panel as a guide. Apply a bit of pressure to the side of the saw blade with one hand approx half way along the blade – there will be enough flex in the saw blade to allow it to bend slightly and give a horizontal cut.

40mm deep should only require a sand / cement screed i.e. no aggregate.
7 or 8 25kg bags of coarse sand and a couple of bags of cement. Could be left slightly low (about 3 – 5mm) and finished with self levelling as carlos said.

Edit – if you want to add aggregate for strength use a 10mm or grano dust.

Depends on how strong you need the mix tbh. I would allow 8 x 25kg bags of ballast and 32(ish)kg cement. A single bag of cement may just be enough but really depends on the strength you need.

While in Blackpool with my 9 year old lad last year I made an impulse bid on a bike for him which was located in Huddersfield. Figured it was about a three hour round trip so contacted the seller immediately in the hope I could collect it that night. Unfortunately he wasn’t able to meet until the day I was due to head home (which was a 5 hour drive in the opposite direction).
Time and place agreed, I set off with cash in hand and duly arrived at midday as agreed. After knocking several times a young lad, who I had obviously just woken up, answered the door to inform me that the seller no longer lived there. Not a problem I said, I’ll just take the bike and leave the cash for him to collect. 10 minutes of searching then ensued, only to be told that another of the flatmates must have “borrowed” the bike to get to uni but he might be back in a couple of hours. 😥

Needless to say the form on the drive home wasn’t good (and was only made worse by a poor decision to carry on through Leeds and up the M1 rather than back the way I came). What should have been straight forward 5 hour journey home ended up nearly double that.

the waterrower is a good machine and may be better than a concept 2 for home use. I’ve owned a waterrower for around 2 years and find it smoother and a good bit quieter in use than the c2 – it’s also easier to store if space is at a premium.
If you are used to the c2 you will find that the waterrower feels a bit strange at first as you are sat lower in relation to the foot plates but you soon get used to it. Comparing the two machines, my own experience is that the waterrower is better suited to longer sessions (60 – 90mins) and the c2 better suited for shorter, more intense use.
Bought mine as an ex hire machine from Rowhire (via ebay). It came fully serviced and with a short warranty for just over half the price of a new machine.

I for one was really looking forward to it and was a tad dsappointed to say the least. Alpine bike were the only stand to make an effort, the rest was pretty poor including the stunt show (nowhere near the standard shown in the video trailer)
Stayed for about three hours only because that was the time I had to wait for my lad to try the tirol boardwalk track. Nevertheless, good to see an event of this type in Scotland and hope to see it return again – just bigger and better.
