On my Nomad I am running 2.35 60a LUST HR on EX823s. This is the bike that does stuff like Golspie and Laggan and big natural rides like Carn Ban Mor. Because they are tubeless and I can’t be arsed faffing with sealant all the time (I don’t need it but like the confidence it gives regards thorn punctures etc) when swapping tyres, I have found them to be the best all rounder. Whilst I was waiting for the last one to arrive I had a non LUST 2.5 HR on the front. You know about this on the climbs but it grips well!
On my HT I’ve just taken my winter Swampthings off and replaced them with 60a single ply HR ghetto’d on Tesco 20″ inners. They got their 1st 15 miles tonight and I like them. I ran them a bit hard (always do on the 1st run after ghetto) so had a bit less grip on rooty sections but they were much faster.

Trimmings fine IMNSHO. Most trail users will appreciate it. As long as you don’t go overboard and start hacking down trees and stuff.

This is the home of niche and Rockshox fanbois. Most of the FS riders here appear to have Fox shocks though. Try a different forum or review and you’ll get different answers. I like what comes on my bike when I get it providing it works and lasts. Both RS and Fox have done that for me. I did swap some Fox 32 Flaots for Pikes because of the U turn though.

I’ve been to 2 wars and skied down a 40 degree ice sheet on fat powder skis with blunt edges. I’ve never been so scared as riding a normally average rooty trail in the wet on those POS tyres. Threw them in the bin.

I wouldn’t touch a crossmark with a bargepole after watching a decent rider slide off the grippy Golspie rock a few times.

Highroller semi slick for the dry. Or a Larsen TT. Or a DMR Moto. Or Racing Ralphs. Depends how hard you’re going to abuse them where there are rocks or or sharp roots around. Personally I’d have a HR SS on the front and a Larsen on the back. Until it rained.

Got Swampthings on at the mo but I’m just about to replace them with 60a Highrollers for the summer. Swampies have been great particularly in the snow and on wet roots. The theory is that I’ll fly along on the lower rolling resistance of the HRs too!

5 quid a tube is daylight robbery! I find that storing the tyres inside out for a while before fitting just makes them work.

Bus pulled out in front of me in my huge Movano white van. I had to lock up to miss him. I pulled up behind him at the next stop and asked him why he had done it. He said he didn’t see me. I pointed out the size of my van and the fact i was 10 yds away when he pulled out might suggest he was blind and shouldn’t be driving. He got arsey and told me to piss off. I complained to his company. Never seen him again.

Seen them twice. Good but not great live for some reason. My pal saw them in a small room at SbSW and said they were awesome. Enjoyed the show on C4 though.

I did 108 miles in a day on a 06 Dawg Primo. Was fine and fun. My pal did it on a Nomad. He put 1.95 tyres on but that was the only mod. Just use the Nomad, it’ll be fine. It’s not like it’s a race is it?

Apparently the new layout is due to customer feedback. I’ve installed it of a couple of hundred pcs or so now. There’s about a 50:50 split as to who does and doesn’t like it. I don’t care. Life’s too short to get stressed about such trivial things.

Get chainsuck on my summer season too. Changing down to granny. If I take the power off completely it doesn’t happen but it was all new kit too. I think a dent or ovalisation will occur in my frame soon. Still love it to bits though.
